Rajesh Khanna and Dimple Kapadia marriage
Veteran actress Mumtaz , an icon of beauty and grace in Hindi cinema, recently opened up about the bittersweet stories behind the glittering façade of Bollywood's golden era. Known for her electrifying on-screen chemistry with Rajesh Khanna in blockbusters like Do Raaste, Roti, Bandhan, Prem Kahani, and Aap Ki Kasam, the actress reflected on the superstar's real-life relationships, particularly with her close friend, Anju Mahendru Dismissing long-standing rumours of a rivalry with fellow star Sharmila Tagore or any romantic link with Rajesh Khanna, Mumtaz set the record straight in a candid chat with Vickey Lalwani. She revisited the turbulent end of Rajesh and Anju's enduring relationship, which shocked many in the industry. Having seen the bond between them firsthand, Mumtaz believed Anju was a grounding force in Rajesh's life, someone who genuinely cared for his well-being, even during his final years.Despite the heartbreak of being left behind when Rajesh married a much younger Dimple Kapadia , Anju never spiralled into bitterness. Mumtaz recounted how her friend stayed composed and dignified, choosing to carry on rather than dwell in sorrow. The veteran actress even expressed, '...Kaka may have still been alive if he had stayed with Anju.'Anju Mahendru and Rajesh Khanna's relationship began in 1966 and lasted through many ups and downs. Anju supported him during his rise to superstardom, even managing his home, Aashirvad. However, Rajesh's possessiveness and interference in her career led to friction. After Anju rejected his 1971 marriage proposal, rumours linked her to cricketer Gary Sobers. Tensions peaked when Dimple Kapadia entered the scene, leading to a confrontation at Rajesh's party. Soon after, Rajesh proposed to Dimple, and the two married in 1973 despite their large age gap. Anju and Rajesh's romance ended, but its intensity left a lasting legacy.Rajesh Khanna, at the age of 31, married the 15-year-old aspiring actress Dimple Kapadia in March 1973, just months before her debut film Bobby hit theatres in September that year. The couple had two daughters, Twinkle and Rinke. They got separated in 1982.

Mohit Suri, Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda's ‘Saiyaara' becomes 2025's third biggest Hindi hit edging out Ajay Devgn's 'Raid 2'

Mohit Suri's Saiyaara is now the third highest-grossing film of 2025. The movie stars Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda. Saiyaara surpassed Ajay Devgn's Raid 2 collection. The film earned ₹173.96 crore, exceeding Raid 2's lifetime collection. Saiyaara might beat Housefull 5's record soon. The movie's success is notable because of its newcomer leads. After a thunderous first week where it collected Rs 172.5 crore , Mohit Suri 's Saiyaara has officially become the third highest-grossing film of 2025, edging past Ajay Devgn 's Raid 2 on its 8th day. The romantic action-drama starring Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda has added Rs 1.46 crore on it's second Friday till 12 Noon, taking the overall collection to Rs 173.96 crore overtaking Raid 2's lifetime India net of Rs 173.44 crore. Mohit Suri Spills On 20 Years In Bollywood - Ahaan & Aneet, Alia Bhatt Dream Collab & More Released last Friday, Saiyaara opened with Rs 21.5 crore and saw a sharp upward trend through its first weekend, peaking on Sunday with Rs 35.75 crore. With a strong Monday hold at Rs 24 crore and a solid Tuesday of Rs 25 crore, the film continued its impressive run even mid-week where it collected Rs 21.5 crore on Wednesday and Rs 18.75 crore on Thursday. With afternoon, evening and night shows yet to be accounted for, the film is to cross Rs 184 crore by the end of Day 8, which would mean surpassing the lifetime total of Housefull 5 (Rs 183.38 crore) — making it the second highest-grossing Hindi film of 2025, behind only Vicky Kaushal 's Chhaava which has collected Rs 585.5 crore in Hindi. Last night Saiyaara was on the third spot as it zoomed past Aamir Khan 's Sitaare Zameen Par's collection of Rs 164.91 crore. What's more impressive is that Saiyaara has achieved this milestone with two newcomers in the lead, making it one of the rare Bollywood blockbusters to do so. The film has found resonance among the youth, with its emotional core, chart-topping music, and gripping performances driving repeat viewership across urban and tier-2 centres. It would be interesting to see how far can Saiyaara walk in the days to come as within next week Aditya Chopra is set to release his next big Spy instalment in War 2 with Hrithik Roshan , and Kiara Advani.

‘Akshay Kumar's wife came to know of a relationship with Priyanka Chopra, it was unethical of him to quit film': Suneel Darshan

Actor Priyanka Chopra alluded to being cornered by certain forces in Bollywood, which was one of the reasons why she chose to switch base to the United States and begin afresh abroad. Among the many controversies that hounded her during her rise in the Hindi film industry was her rumoured affair with Akshay Kumar. They worked together in the films Andaaz, Aitraaz, and Waqt: The Race Against Time in three successive years. They were also supposed to work together in the film Barsaat, and had even shot a song for it. Director Suneel Darshan said in a recent interview that the rumours of a relationship reached Twinkle Khanna, Akshay's wife, that forced him to present director Suneel Darshan with a tough choice. He told his frequent creative collaborator that it was going to have to be either him or Priyanka, and Suneel went with Priyanka. None of the actors involved, however, ever commented on the controversy. In an interview with journalist Vickey Lalwani, Suneel opened up about that chapter in his career, and said that it was one of the reasons he and Akshay drifted apart after working on seven films together. 'One beautiful song was shot between Akshay and Priyanka before they broke off… When it was time to get back for the final schedule, during which the entire movie had to be made, I was called by Akshay to his set. Seldom was I called to his sets, so I was surprised. He informed me that there were some issues that were uncontrollable, and there were some repercussions on his personal life. He requested me to take a decision on how to move further. I can't remember the exact words, but it was about having either him or Priyanka in the movie.' Circumstances had reached a point… The public, the media did mention a relationship, which the wife got to know of. But suddenly, after making me wait for 18 months, to say that I can't be a part of the film, I was shocked… He did want to compensate by saying he'd do the next film with me, but I just thought it was unbelievable, coming from Akshay.' In a previous interview, Suneel suggested that Twinkle actually 'left' Akshay after discovering his rumoured affair. 'Kuch blunder aise ho chuke thay (He did some blunders). Some rumours about Priyanka Chopra and Akshay Kumar started doing the rounds and Twinkle had left his home. As an actor you have to be responsible. If your wife has been an actress, she knows everything about the industry and she has also worked with all the big stars. She knew everything,' he said in an interview with Friday Talkies. Suneel said that Akshay had basically been written off by the industry after delivering a string of flops, which was when he approached him for work. They agreed to do Jaanwar together, and subsequently, Akshay's career was reignited. Suneel claimed that Akshay promised to do 100 films with him, but their streak came to an end at seven. He eventually signed Bobby Deol for Barsaat, but Priyanka stayed on because she wasn't the one who put the 'unethical' condition on him. They worked together on one more film, but Suneel said that he realised that the working chemistry had fizzled out by then. 'I realised it was time up,' he said, mentioning that he hasn't met Akshay in two decades.

‘Sarzameen' movie review: Prithviraj Sukumaran and Kajol can't salvage this emotional misfire

Sulking sons, duty-bound fathers, and suffering mothers make for engaging Hindi cinema. This week, emerging director Kayoze Irani revisits familiar daddy issues with mixed results. Sarzameen's basic premise reminds me of Ramesh Sippy's Shakti, where circumstances force a father in uniform (Prithivraj Sukumaran) to choose between his son (Ibrahim Ali Khan) and his duty. Set in the picturesque political cauldron of Kashmir, the stakes get higher here when the neglected son stutters his way into the enemy camp led by dreaded militant Kabil (K.C. Shankar). As expected, the mother (Kajol) tries to be the connecting link, but a past that needs to be addressed remains unhealed, leaving wounds unresolved. Sarzameen (Hindi) Director: Kayoze Irani Cast: Prithviraj Sukumaran, Kajol, Ibrahim Ali Khan, K.C. Shankar Duration: 137 minutes Storyline: An army officer out to eliminate militancy in the Kashmir valley finds himself at a vortex where his principles are put to the test After preparing the audience for a realistic terrain, Irani takes mainstream leaps of faith, landing in no man's land. The film attempts to explore parenthood, patriotism, and militancy, but fails to effectively integrate the personal within complex socio-political dynamics, instead resorting to tropes that have become clichéd due to overuse. It seems the makers set out to map the complexity of militancy in the Kashmir valley through a personal story, but ended up making a safe product to populate the OTT shelf. Hence, the drama doesn't leap at you, the conflict doesn't engage you enough, the suspension of disbelief doesn't hold, and the layers in the story don't add up to create an emotional swell. ALSO READ: An artiste with a view | Prithviraj Sukumaran Prithiviraj and Kajol form an interesting screen pair. However, despite their immense talent, their chemistry doesn't click, and the melodrama falls short. Shankar is no Amrish Puri to generate the dread of revenge. For a script that demands a deep emotional commitment, Ibrahim Ali Khan, like the film, is undercooked. Sarzameen is currently streaming on Hotstar
