South Asian neighbours Nepal and Bhutan were among eight nations honoured in the 2024 edition of the ICC Development Awards, cricket's governing body announced during its annual board meeting on Sunday.
USA Cricket received the ICC Associate Member Men's Team Performance of the Year award for their achievements in the past year, which included qualifying for the Super Eight of the T20 World Cup hosted by the USA and the West Indies.
Their victories against Canada and the historic win against Pakistan led to the elimination of Babar Azam's team from the competition, bringing the tournament into the spotlight of mainstream American television and news.
Besides the USA, Bhutan and Nepal, other nations receiving awards were Indonesia, Namibia, Scotland, Tanzania, and Vanuatu.
Fifteen associate member nations were shortlisted for the awards.
Cricket Namibia won the ICC Development Initiative of the Year award for their Ashburton Kwata Mini-Cricket Programme, the country's flagship grassroots development initiative.
For the first time, the ICC Female Cricket Initiative of the Year award will be shared by two Members – Bhutan Cricket Council Board and Vanuatu Cricket Association.
The Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) received the ICC Digital Fan Engagement of the Year award. Their strategic expansion across Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, X, and their newly launched CAN Domestic Facebook accounts resulted in a total reach of approximately 117 million.
ICC chairman Jay Shah said: 'It is a pleasure to announce the global winners of the ICC Development Awards. This is a celebration of global exceptionalism, with all winners deserving the accolades they have received in their mission to grow the game in emerging nations."

IND Vs ENG: Why Is Chris Woakes Batting Left-Handed At The Oval?
Last Updated: Chris Woakes is a right-hander but he's going to bat left-handed at the Oval. Here's why. England all-rounder Chris Woakes has come out to bat at number 11 in the final Test of the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy despite suffering from a serious shoulder injury. To help with the pain on the left side, he's going to bat left-handed, despite being a right-hander by trade. Woakes suffered the injury while fielding on the first day of the Test. He went chasing after a drive from Karun Nair at mid-off and landed awkwardly on his left. He was whincing in pain immediately after and had to be helped out of the ground by the physio. Later, he was seen wearing a sling. When wickets started to fall on Day 4 and again on Day 5, cameras panned onto him and he was ready in his whites. Woakes walked out to bat as Prasidh Krishna clean bowled Josh Tongue. 'With his left arm in a sling. Chris Woakes is coming out to bat. He is the best and bravest of us all ❤️" England cricket wrote in a post for him. Earlier, Joe Root had confirmed that Woakes was 'desperate' to help the team. 'I assume so. He is desperate to do what it takes. There is a lot of things that have to happen before that," Root told the press after the fourth day's play. 'He's all in, like the rest of us," Root added. It's been that kind of series where guys have had to put bodies on the line. Hopefully it doesn't come to that but he had some throw-downs in here at one point so he's ready if needed. It shows the character and the person that he is, that he's prepared to put his body on the line like that for England and hopefully he doesn't have to, but if it does, to get us across the line and win us an incredible series," he added. Explained: Why Suryakumar Yadav Was Left Out Of West Zone's Duleep Trophy Squad?
Last Updated: India's T20I captain Suryakumar Yadav was left out of the West Zone's Duleep Trophy team because of his rehab at the National Cricket Academy after hernia surgery. India's T20I captain Suryakumar Yadav was left out of the West Zone's 15-member squad for the Duleep Trophy because he is already at the National Cricket Academy after undergoing a hernia surgery and he is looking to get fit in time to lead India at the upcoming Asia Cup, according to a report in Cricbuzz. This was the prime reason the West Zone selectors left Suryakumar out of their 15-member Duleep Trophy team for which Shardul Thakur was named skipper. The team includes multiple Mumbai stalwarts such as Yashasvi Jaiswal, Shreyas Iyer, Sarfaraz Khan, Shams Mulani, Tanush Kotian, and Tushar Deshpande, but excludes Suryakumar. The rehabilitation process is a follow-up to the hernia surgery Suryakumar underwent in Munich, which he had announced in June. 'Underwent surgery for a sports hernia in the lower right abdomen. Grateful to share that after a smooth surgery, I'm already on the road to recovery. Can't wait to be back (sic)," Suryakumar wrote in a social media post on June 26. Suryakumar's next major assignment is the Asia Cup in the United Arab Emirates, scheduled from September 9 to 28. As per MCA officials quoted in the report, Suryakumar is confident of regaining full fitness in time for the tournament. Suryakumar was last seen in action during the Indian Premier League, representing the Mumbai Indians, who lost in Qualifier 2 to the Punjab Kings. According to the report, PBKS skipper Shreyas Iyer also visited the Centre of Excellence last week for fitness tests. Iyer has since returned to Mumbai and according to the report, the visit was for routine assessments. view comments Location : New Delhi, India, India First Published: News cricket Explained: Why Suryakumar Yadav Was Left Out Of West Zone's Duleep Trophy Squad? Kareena Kapoor Khan And PV Sindhu Redefine Power Dressing In Athleisure's Bold New Era
Last Updated: Kareena Kapoor Khan and PV Sindhu come together, athleisure transforms into a statement of strength, confidence, and modern femininity. When fashion icon Kareena Kapoor Khan and Olympic medalist PV Sindhu join forces, the result is a masterclass in strength, style, and synergy. The latest Puma India campaign captures these two trailblazers redefining athleisure with a bold new energy rooted in confidence, discipline, and unapologetic individuality. The campaign, shot in a clean, high-impact studio setup, blends Puma's signature performance-wear with the personalities of its stars. Kareena brings her innate glamour, posing in sculpted burgundy co-ords and sleek monochromes, while Sindhu channels athletic intensity in functional, form-fitting separates designed for movement and power. From high-waisted leggings and sports bras to training-ready sneakers and statement outerwear, the collection bridges comfort with a contemporary edge making the gym-to-street crossover look seamless. More than just a fashion spread, this visual narrative celebrates the intersection of strength and femininity. PV Sindhu, one of India's most decorated athletes, lends authenticity to the performance gear embodying purpose, movement, and ambition. Kareena, on the other hand, brings her timeless charisma and body-positivity ethos, proving that you can look fierce and feel comfortable no matter the workout (or lack thereof). Their camaraderie in the frames also subtly hints at what modern womanhood looks like: supportive, stylish, and strong in every arena. The mirror-themed backdrop reinforces the core message, 'They Know." It's a nod to inner validation, encouraging women to look inward for strength rather than outside approval. Both Kareena and Sindhu, despite belonging to vastly different worlds, echo the same sentiment: self-worth is the real flex. In an age where activewear is more than just utility, this campaign positions Puma as a label that listens to women, athletes, mothers, celebrities, professionals and designs for their many avatars. Whether you're hitting the court, the treadmill, or just grabbing a coffee post-yoga, the line blends performance with polish effortlessly. This isn't just about sportswear. It's a celebration of two icons owning their journeys, one outfit at a time. view comments First Published: Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's.
