The Southwest Monsoon is moving deeper into India, with most parts of Bihar and more areas in eastern Uttar Pradesh now experiencing rain as of June 19, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD).This growing monsoon activity is expected to bring very heavy to extremely heavy rainfall across several parts of the country in the coming days.The IMD has predicted extremely heavy rain in isolated parts of Jharkhand on June 19 and 20. Similar conditions are likely in West Bengal and Odisha on June 19.States in western India, including Gujarat, north Konkan, and the ghat areas of Madhya Maharashtra, are likely to receive extremely heavy rainfall on June 19. Isolated downpours are expected in these regions as the monsoon strengthens.People in Northeast India should expect light to moderate rainfall at most places, with thunderstorms, lightning, and heavy to very heavy showers in some areas, continuing over the next seven days.In Northwest India, isolated heavy rain is likely over Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, and East Rajasthan from June 19 to 25. The IMD has also warned of:Rainfall is also expected in Jammu & Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Muzaffarabad from June 22 to 25.In the southern region, Kerala and Mahe may see isolated heavy rain on June 19 and between June 22 and 25. Coastal Karnataka is also likely to receive rain on June 19 and again from June 21 to 25.However, hot and humid weather is expected to continue in isolated pockets of Tamil Nadu, Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Yanam, and Rayalaseema from June 19 to 21.Earlier on June 19, the IMD office in Bhubaneswar reported heavy rainfall in 8 to 9 locations across Odisha in the last 24 hours.Manorama Mohanty, Director of IMD Bhubaneswar , said the rain is due to a well-marked low-pressure area over Gangetic West Bengal. Char Dham Yatra suspended due to heavy rainfall red alert in Uttarakhand
