Comoros Reaffirms Support for Morocco's Autonomy Plan in Western Sahara
Speaking at the seminar, the Comoros' Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Ambassador Ismail Chanfi, described Morocco's 2007 Autonomy Plan as a 'serious, credible, and solid' basis for finding a political solution to the regional dispute.
He said the plan is in line with international law and has received widespread international support as a realistic and constructive approach. 'More and more UN member states are backing this initiative, which proves its strength and relevance,' Chanfi said.
He added that the Autonomy Plan is part of the momentum created by UN Security Council resolutions, especially those calling for a lasting, practical, and agreed-upon political solution to the issue of Western Sahara.
Chanfi also expressed his country's firm commitment to the principles of the UN Charter, especially respect for the territorial integrity of member states and the peaceful resolution of conflicts. He called for increased support for the UN Secretary-General's efforts to find a political solution based on Morocco's Autonomy Plan.
The diplomat commended Morocco's active participation in the political process led by the UN Secretary-General and his Personal Envoy, Staffan de Mistura. He also encouraged all parties involved in the dispute to join this 'positive dynamic.'
On another note, Ambassador Chanfi commended Morocco for its major efforts to promote social and economic development in its southern provinces. He pointed to large investments in infrastructure, education, health, and renewable energy as proof of Morocco's serious commitment to improving the lives of local people.
He noted that the Western Sahara region benefits from projects launched as part of the 2015 New Development Model for the Southern Provinces. These efforts, he said, have turned the region into a real development hub and have improved human development indicators.

Rabat – Algerian regime mouthpieces are again resorting to social media to fuel their Morocco-bashing campaigns. Unsurprisingly, this time Algeria's regime online trolls revived their fraud and disinformation machine, especially after US President Donald Trump's recent strong-worded statement reaffirming support for Morocco's territorial integrity and sovereignty over its southern provinces in Western Sahara. The Algerian regime's fraud machine went so far as to fabricate official statements from the US State Department and the White House. In the past few days, Algeria's regime mouthpieces on social media fabricated a statement from the US State Department, inventing a fake name to claim that the message received by King Mohammed VI from Trump was allegedly false. Algeria's online trolls, however, failed to forge the document, leaving behind glaring typos and inconsistencies that no State Department release would contain. Looking closer at the forged document, the fake release reveals serious errors, with a forged signature as well as blatant linguistic errors like 'Amrica' instead of America.' The errors took minimal fact-checking, which was swiftly carried out by Moroccan social media, which caught Algeria's mouthpieces red-handed. The recent situation marks a pattern of disinformation tactics that the Algerian regime uses in an attempt to undermine Morocco's interests, especially as Rabat continues to gain momentum in the Sahara dossier. Over 115 countries are on a growing list that explicitly support Morocco's Autonomy Plan as a serious and credible political solution, or the only or most political framework able to end the dispute over Western Sahara. This momentum leaves Algeria's regime lobbying attempts and advocacy for separatism and Polisario's 'self-determination' narrative isolated within the international community. This is not the first time that Algeria's regime fabricated a release from the US State Department. In July, the Algerian presidency, Algeria's regime mouthpiece press, as well as the state media, fabricated a letter from Trump. Algeria's affiliated media claimed the US president had praised a 'lasting' partnership and expressed hope for flourishing ties between the two countries. However, some critics exposed the regime's attempt, noting that Trump has indeed sent a letter to Tebboune. Unlike the claims reported by Algeria's regime, the letter sought to inform Tebboune about the 30% tariffs on Algeria. The Algerian latest disinformation attempts come as the regime continues to turn a deaf ear to a direct opportunity to end tensions with Morocco. In his speech on Throne Day on Tuesday, King Mohammed VI reiterated Rabat's readiness to open a bridge of dialogue and discussion, stressing the importance of good neighborly relations to address regional challenges. Morocco, Korea Celebrate Strong Bilateral Relations on Throne Day Celebration
Rabat — Moroccan and Korean delegations have emphasized the importance of Morocco-Korea bilateral ties during the celebration of the Throne Day. During the ceremony, the two countries reflected on decades of partnership rooted in shared sacrifice and mutual support. Speaking at a commemorative event marking the 26th anniversary of King Mohammed VI's ascension to the throne, Moroccan Ambassador to Korea Chafik Rachadi pointed out the strategic momentum building between the two countries. The celebration served as a platform to display not only Morocco's economic achievements but also the deepening ties with Korea. The relationship between Morocco and Korea traces back to the Korean War, when Moroccan soldiers fought alongside UN forces to defend Korea. Israel Conducts Ground Raids in Southern Syria
Rabat — The Israeli Occupation Forces (IOF) announced Sunday that they carried out ground raids in southern Syria. IOF claims that raids are targeting arms trafficking operations near the annexed Golan Heights. The operation marks IOF's latest ground operation since the overthrow of Syria's previous president in December 2024. During the night, IOF troops 'completed a mission that included on-site interrogation of several suspects involved in arms trafficking in the Hader region of southern Syria,' near the Golan Heights that Israel annexed, the IOF said in a statement. The IOF claimed that following gathering intelligence and conducting field interrogations, its 'troops simultaneously entered four locations and found numerous weapons that the suspects had trafficked.' The military released footage showing IOF soldiers in uniform, operating in armored vehicles and on foot during nighttime operations in the area. The IOF said one of its troops 'remains deployed in the region, continuing to operate and prevent any terrorist elements from taking root in Syria,' and claimed this is 'to protect Israeli civilians, particularly residents of the Golan Heights.' The ground operation represents the latest action Israel has taken in Syria, as the IOF has deployed forces in the UN-controlled buffer zone on the Golan Heights after the rebel coalition toppled Bashar Al Assad in December 2024. Since Assad's fall, Israel has launched hundreds of strikes on Syrian military sites. Israeli officials claim they want to prevent Assad's weapons arsenal from falling into the hands of the new authorities, whom they view with suspicion.
