NEW DELHI: High drama unfolded in the final moments of Day 3 of the third Test between India and England at Lord's on Saturday, as tensions boiled over and emotions ran high under the fading evening light.
With just minutes left in the day's play, the Indian team took the field fired up, determined to squeeze in as many deliveries as possible to unsettle England openers
Zak Crawley
and Ben Duckett.

Jasprit Bumrah was handed the ball and tasked with breaking through early. He immediately went after Crawley with a mix of pace and variation. But after his second delivery, Bumrah appeared visibly frustrated—possibly suspecting Crawley of deliberately slowing the game down.
As the pacer turned to begin his run-up, Crawley backed away from the crease, further aggravating the Indians.
Stationed in the slips, captain
Shubman Gill
shouted something toward Crawley, and his teammates soon joined in. On the fifth ball of the over, Crawley took a blow on his glove and promptly called for the physio, removing the glove to inspect the damage.
Tim Southee press conference: On last over drama, Shoaib Bashir injury, frustration with Dukes ball
The request was met with sarcastic applause from the Indian players.

Gill even ran toward Crawley, gesturing animatedly in the direction of the pavilion. Words were exchanged between Crawley and the Indian captain, and Ben Duckett briefly stepped in, engaging in a heated conversation with Gill before play resumed.
Bumrah responded with a sharp delivery to close out the day, ending a gripping final over that had just about everything—tension, drama, and needle.
Poll
Should players engage in verbal exchanges on the field?
Yes, it adds to the drama
No, it's unprofessional
Only if it's friendly banter
While the incident drew criticism from sections of the English media and several former players, former England cricketer
Kevin Pietersen
threw his support behind the Indian skipper.
'Test cricket needs needle,' Pietersen wrote on social media.
'Finger pointing and a little bit of aggression is the perfect recipe to dish up an action-packed today and tomorrow. When tempers flare and actions boil over, it's entertaining and I LOVE IT!'
KL Rahul press conference: On last over fight, Rishabh Pant run out and fired up Shubman Gill
With the five-match series finely poised at 1-1, the drama at Lord's has only added more spice to what promises to be an explosive finale over the coming days.

'Rishabh Pant made the call. Was an error...': Shubman Gill says 'KL Rahul was in danger' in 'turning point' at Lord's

The Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy between India and England is living up to the hype, and the five-match series is going down to the wire. The Lord's Test turned out to be a cracking contest as England went 2-1 up by registering a 22-run win at the home of cricket on Monday. After the loss in London, India captain Shubman Gill admitted that Rishabh Pant's run-out in the first innings turned out to be a game-changing moment. Shubman Gill said Rishabh Pant's run-out in the first innings turned out to be the game-changing moment in the Lord's Test. (PTI) In the first innings, KL Rahul and Rishabh Pant were performing well, and India looked set to take a lead. However, on the cusp of the lunch break on Day 3, Rishabh Pant ran himself out as he tried to bring KL Rahul back on strike so that the latter could complete his century. A rocket throw from Ben Stokes at the non-striker's end caught Rishabh Pant short of the crease, and the left-hander walked back to the hut after scoring 74 runs off 112 balls with the help of eight fours and two sixes. Pant and Rahul put on 141 runs for the fourth wicket, but the run-out paved the way for England to sneak through the back door. Gill refused to pin the blame on KL Rahul, saying it was Rishabh Pant who made the call and asked the right-hander to charge for a run. Also Read: Shubman Gill breaks silence on 'grow some f*****g b***s' episode involving Zak Crawley "We always talk about keeping the team first. But I think it was more an error in judgment rather than someone thinking about their 100. KL Rahul might have told Rishabh 'It would be good if I complete my 100 before lunch. The batter feels the pressure when he is batting on 99. But I wouldn't say Rishabh Pant got out because of the personal milestone of KL Rahul," Gill told reporters. "It was an error of judgment. Rishabh made the call. The danger end was KL Bhai. I would say it was an error of judgment. It can happen to any batter," he added. Fitness update on Rishabh Pant There is also an injury scare surrounding Rishabh Pant after the wicketkeeper got hit on his hand while trying to collect a Jasprit Bumrah delivery. He then didn't do wicketkeeping in the remaining first and second innings. Dhruv Jurel came in as a substitute wicketkeeper, and he donned the gloves for India. However, Gill said there is nothing to worry about as Pant should be fit in time for the fourth Test in Manchester. 'Rishabh did go for the scans. There is nothing major there, so I think he should be fine for the next Test,' said Gill. Speaking of the Lord's Test between India and England, nothing separated the two teams after the first innings, as both sides posted 387 runs on the board. Washington Sundar then returned with four wickets in the second innings as India bundled out England for 192. However, India fell 22 runs short as they failed to chase 193. India were reduced to 112/8 at one stage in the final innings, but Ravindra Jadeja (61*) put in a valiant effort with Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Siraj.

Can Jeff Skinner revive his old magic in the San Jose Sharks, or is this just a short stop on his journey?

Jeff Skinner looks to regain form while guiding Sharks' youth (Getty Images) After a difficult season in Edmonton, Jeff Skinner is embracing a fresh start with the San Jose Sharks—one that may be short-term on paper but could prove transformative for both sides. The 33-year-old forward inked a one-year, $3 million deal with the Sharks, a decision driven by the promise of opportunity and a desire to prove he still belongs among the NHL 's top contributors. Is Jeff Skinner a stopgap or savior? Sharks place their bet as rebuild gains momentum 'As a player, you look for someone that's sort of interested in you or willing to give you an opportunity,' Skinner said, expressing his excitement to join a young, developing team eager for guidance and leadership. Unlike last year with the powerhouse Oilers—where Skinner was surrounded by elite talent like Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl but received limited ice time—San Jose presents a chance for him to play meaningful minutes. He's expected to slot into a top-six role and contribute regularly on the power play, something he sorely lacked in Edmonton. 'Coming to a team where they're giving you some opportunity as a player, I think that's what you look for,' he explained. 'Then obviously as the player, you have to take advantage of it.' Despite his impressive resume—373 career goals and six 30-goal seasons—Skinner's 2023–24 campaign was underwhelming. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like An engineer reveals: One simple trick to get internet without a subscription Techno Mag Learn More Undo In 72 games, he tallied just 16 goals and 29 points while averaging 13 minutes of ice time. He managed only two points in five playoff games, including the Cup Final, which Edmonton lost in six games. It was a bitter taste after finally making his postseason debut. 'Having gone through the season I went through last year, I think in terms of offensive production, it wasn't up to my standard,' Skinner admitted. 'For sure, I'd like to improve on that production and help the team in any way I can.' The Sharks finished last in the NHL last season, scoring a league-low 2.54 goals per game. With promising young stars like Macklin Celebrini, Will Smith, and William Eklund anchoring the rebuild, Skinner's experience could be invaluable. 'It's always fun to play with great players and that's what those guys are,' said Skinner. 'I'm really excited to join the team.' Sharks GM Mike Grier echoed that optimism, noting, 'These players were brought in to help our group grow and make us a better team.' Though Grier isn't ruling out trade possibilities should the team struggle again, the intention is to make this a season of progress—not a repeat of past fire sales. Skinner, whose contract includes a no-trade clause until January 30, 2026, is one of ten Sharks set to become unrestricted free agents next summer. Whether he stays beyond this season remains to be seen. But for now, the veteran winger is laser-focused on contributing, mentoring, and reigniting his scoring touch in a city ready to turn the page. 'I, for sure, think that I have a lot left in the tank,' Skinner affirmed. 'There's some extra juice and energy that comes with a new challenge. I'm real excited to get going.' IND vs ENG 3rd Test: 'Don't just blame Day 5' - Dinesh Karthik explains how India lost grip on the Lord's Test

England's players celebrate their win against India (AP Photo/Richard Pelham) Former cricketers Dinesh Karthik and Nasser Hussain analyzed the crucial moments that determined the outcome of the third Test match at Lord's, where England secured a 22-run victory over India. Despite Ravindra Jadeja 's resistance with tail-enders Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Siraj, India fell short in their chase of 193 runs. India's batting collapse in the first innings proved costly as they went from 376/6 to 387 all out, matching England's total. KL Rahul 's dropped catch of Jamie Smith, who went on to score 51 runs, also impacted the game significantly. Go Beyond The Boundary with our YouTube channel. SUBSCRIBE NOW! "If you are going to judge the match based on what happened today, I think you are looking at the wrong side. You have got to look at 376-6 in the first innings to 387 all out. Again a bit of a mini-collapse. The catch that KL Rahul dropped, Jamie Smith on five," Karthik said on Sky Sports. "How much do those things matter to you? Those are the conversations you need to have. There were moments India could have gone ahead and couldn't for the third time this series," Karthik added. Hussain highlighted the run-out of India's vice-captain Rishabh Pant by England captain Ben Stokes as a pivotal moment. Pant was dismissed for 74 runs just before lunch on the third day. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Dementia Has Been Linked To a Common Habit. Extremely crucial Somewhat crucial Not very crucial On the final day, Stokes and Jofra Archer reduced India to 82/7 in the opening hour. Despite Jadeja's unbeaten 61, India's hopes were dashed when Shoaib Bashir dismissed Siraj. "This will be a tough one for India to take. If we had those pie charts up about who has won sessions in this series, they have won so many sessions. They have played so much good cricket. But they are 2-1 down because of the key moments - little collapses, dropped catches, Pant's run out here at Lord's. India need a break. If we had back-to-back Test matches, this would he hard for them," Hussain concluded. For real-time updates, scores, and highlights, follow our live coverage of the India vs England Test match here.
