Tunisia: Tunisair share price plunges to historic low
The share price of Tunisair hit a new historic low on Tuesday, reaching 0.360 dinars on the Tunis Stock Exchange. This decline marks a worrying turning point for the national carrier, whose market capitalization has halved in just four years, dropping to 38 million dinars. This drop in the stock price highlights the structural and cyclical challenges facing Tunisair. Despite its historic status as the flagship of Tunisian air transport, the company appears unable to reverse the trend. Several factors explain this growing disinterest from investors, weighed down by persistent delays in the company's restructuring. Indeed, the recovery plan repeatedly announced by the authorities remains largely theoretical. Few concrete steps have been taken, particularly in modernizing the fleet and reducing staff. Additionally, frequent leadership changes and the lack of a long-term vision have weakened the corporate strategy and eroded market confidence. The plummeting of Tunisair's stock sends a strong alarm signal to the government and social partners. At this valuation level, the company is now perceived by the market as a high-risk asset, despite its strategic role in transport and tourism.

Automotive Industry: TAA and CCITF forge strategic partnership
A strategic partnership agreement to develop the automotive sector in Tunisia was signed in Tunis by the Tunisian-French Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCITF) and the Tunisian Automotive Association (TAA). This partnership reflects a mutual commitment to fostering stronger ties between Tunisian and French stakeholders in the automotive industry by leveraging the synergies and strengths of both organizations. The agreement focuses on several strategic areas, including promoting the strengths of the Tunisian automotive industry to French companies and facilitating trade and investment opportunities. The agreement also aims to encourage cooperation and technology transfer, as well as the joint organization of events to stimulate trade and partnerships. The agreement was signed by CCITF President Khalil Chaibi and TAA President Myriam Elloumi at a conference entitled 'The automotive sector in the face of global change: challenges, opportunities and prospects.' It also aims to promote Tunisian participation in the Equip Auto Paris motor show, which will take place in Paris from 14 to 18 October 2025. On this occasion, Chaibi reiterated the four pillars on which the agreement is based, adding that it would facilitate the development of cooperation projects, particularly in the fields of innovation, research and development (R&D), and technology transfer. He stated that this partnership would raise Tunisia's profile as a competitive industrial hub with high added value in the region. There are more than 280 companies in Tunisia. According to Imed Charfeddine, vice-president of the TAA, the Tunisian automotive industry currently comprises over 280 companies operating in various sub-sectors. Seventy per cent of these are located in the north-east zone and are involved in areas such as electrical wiring, software engineering, textiles and renovation. He added that 67% of these companies operate exclusively in international markets, with Germany being the main destination for 37% of total exports, followed by France (21%), Romania (12%), and Italy (11%). The sector employs one hundred thousand people and has seen remarkable growth of 126% since 2000. In 2024, it accounted for 7% of industrial added value and 4% of GDP. It should be noted that the TAA and the CCITF have defined mutual commitments to ensure the effective implementation of this partnership. The two organizations are committed to pooling their networks, expertise and resources to achieve the set objectives. The Tunisian Automotive Association (TAA) is a not-for-profit trade association established in February 2016 by stakeholders in the Tunisian automotive components industry. Its aims are to promote exchanges, collaboration and synergy between companies in the automotive industry, and to support the Tunisian authorities in developing and promoting the sector in Tunisia.
