Sprinter Zoe Hobbs breaks New Zealand and Oceania record
New Zealand's fastest woman just got faster.
Zoe Hobbs told Breakfast she was "absolutely stoked" with her brilliant 10.94 seconds in the 100m race at the Ostrava Golden Spike event in the Czech Republic.
The 27-year-old sprinter beat her own personal best time of 10.96 seconds to set a new Oceania record.
"I'm absolutely stoked. Anytime running under sub-11s is amazing, [I'm] very happy," she said.

The New Zealander finished 3rd, but led for a large portion of the race.
Her race start had been a focus in training, after struggling in her previous two European races.
"I was a bit confused. I got a flyer start, came out really low, really horizontal. Almost stumbled. I was like 'I just need to hold this!'
"I got to 30m, 40m, was still leading maybe even up to 80m, so I just had to keep relaxing, keep flowing. I knew if I was top three, especially with the other contenders that were in that race, it was going to be a good time."

Hobbs explained she had to be patient, as she hadn't run under 11 seconds since 2023.
"I wasn't quite expecting to run that at this point, or to run a PB, so I think we're on the right track and doing some good things in training.
The landmark time was a huge boost to Hobbs, who battled jet-lag and sickness in earlier competitions.
"It's really reassuring to be in 10.94 PB shape, we're only looking to build from here."
