Music Meets Bells returns: A soulful celebration of Indian Classical Arts in New York
Marking the Commencement Day of Matagiri – The Sri Aurobindo Centre in the USA, the production
'Music Meets Bells'
is set to make a grand return after a seven-year hiatus. This performance will reunite two Indian classical arts — Santoor player Pandit Tarun Bhattacharya and Odissi exponent Guru Sanchita Bhattacharya — on one stage.
Originally conceptualized in 2012 with the blessings of the late sitar maestro Pandit Ravi Shankar, Music Meets Bells is a confluence of sound and movement, blending the ethereal melodies of the santoor with the intricate rhythms of Odissi dance. The production has previously captivated global audiences, with performances spanning India, Hollywood, Taiwan, and other international venues.
The upcoming concert in Kingston holds special significance, not only for marking the return of the duo's collaboration since their last U.S.
tour in 2018 but also as a tribute to their continuing legacy in the world of Indian classical arts. Over the years, both artists have garnered international acclaim for their solo work, and this revival promises a powerful synergy of tradition and innovation.
As the spiritual ambience of Matagiri sets the tone,
Music Meets Bells
aims to transport audiences into a meditative, cultural experience — celebrating the rich heritage of India through a mesmerizing blend of music and dance.
