Gigamon appoints new Asia-Pacific leaders to drive cloud security
Gigamon has announced the appointment of two new leaders for the Asia-Pacific region amid increasing demand for deep observability solutions across key markets such as Australia, Japan, Korea, India, New Zealand, and Southeast Asia.
David Land joins the company as Vice President of Sales, APAC, and will operate from Sydney, while Nikolas Kalogirou has been named Country Manager for Australia and New Zealand (ANZ), working from Melbourne. Land will report to Chief Revenue Officer John Giacomini and oversee the APAC sales and channel teams. Kalogirou will report to Land.
The appointments come at a time when organisations across APAC are contending with a complex digital landscape, increasingly impacted by artificial intelligence and hybrid cloud infrastructure, according to the company. In the Gigamon 2024 Hybrid Cloud Security Survey, 87 percent of Singaporean and 83 percent of Australian security and IT leaders said that deep observability is a foundational element of cloud security.
The Gigamon Deep Observability Pipeline is designed to help organisations secure and manage hybrid cloud infrastructure by delivering network-derived telemetry directly to cloud, security, and traditional observability tools. This approach aims to reduce blind spots, optimise network traffic, and enhance the efficiency of existing tools by up to 90 percent.
The expanded leadership team will prioritise strengthening the Gigamon channel ecosystem, improving customer outcomes, and supporting the delivery of observability across hybrid and multi-cloud environments throughout the region.
David Land brings over 20 years of experience in enterprise sales and leadership. Most recently, he served as Vice President for Asia Pacific and Japan at Fortra, where he was responsible for revenue growth and the development of the company's partner ecosystem. Land has previously been recognised for building high-performing global sales organisations and scaling businesses within cybersecurity and enterprise IT sectors.
Nikolas Kalogirou, based in Melbourne, brings more than two decades of experience in enterprise technology sales and management to his new role as Country Manager for ANZ. He has previously held leadership positions at companies including Recorded Future, BlackBerry, Cofense, and Fraudwatch International, with a strong background in cybersecurity and enterprise technology.
Chief Revenue Officer John Giacomini commented on the new appointments, stating: "Welcoming David and Nik to the team reflects our deepening commitment to customers and partners across the fast-growing APAC region. Both are seasoned leaders with deep domain knowledge and local market insight, and I'm confident they will play a key role in advancing our growth strategy in the months and years ahead. Their cybersecurity expertise will be essential in delivering meaningful outcomes for customers seeking to better secure and manage their hybrid cloud infrastructure."
Gigamon's Deep Observability Pipeline is positioned as a solution to deliver network telemetry to various security and cloud tools, supporting organisations in reducing blind spots and managing hybrid cloud environments. The company reports that it has served more than 4,000 customers globally, which includes more than 80 percent of Fortune 100 enterprises, nine of the ten largest mobile network providers, as well as numerous government and educational entities.

Wavelink appoints Danny Meadows to lead expansion in New Zealand
Wavelink has launched its operations in New Zealand, appointing Danny Meadows as regional manager in a bid to strengthen relationships with local partners and vendors while expanding its presence in the region. The company has historically provided support to New Zealand partners from its Australian operations for over two decades. With this new investment, Wavelink will now establish a dedicated local team in New Zealand, led by Danny Meadows. This strategic move forms part of a broader regional expansion plan and responds to increasing demand from vendors and partners for a stronger local presence. Expansion and leadership The appointment of Meadows and the establishment of a New Zealand team denote Wavelink's intention to build a lasting presence in the market and accelerate growth. The company aims to align its operations more closely with the needs of strategic vendors and to better support joint go-to-market efforts. The New Zealand technology market is experiencing heightened demand for advanced solutions in cybersecurity, mobility, storage, and networking, particularly within key sectors such as critical infrastructure, government, healthcare, and logistics. Wavelink plans to address this demand by introducing its range of mobility and security vendors, including Censys, Claroty, Garland Technology, Honeywell, Orca Security, Penguin Solutions, SOTI, Spectralink, and Swimlane. Additional vendors are expected to be added in the coming months. Supporting local partners Wavelink's expanded presence will mean local partners have access to portfolio solutions that are already established in neighbouring markets, supported by enablement, training, and support services. This is expected to help channel partners accelerate deal cycles, support evolving customer needs, and improve competitiveness in New Zealand. Ilan Rubin, chief executive officer, Wavelink, said, "Expanding into New Zealand is a key part of Wavelink's regional growth strategy. There is increasing demand from partners and vendors for a local presence, and this investment reflects Wavelink's commitment to meeting that demand with the right people and support. Having Danny on the ground gives Wavelink the ability to provide a more consistent and dedicated partner experience and meet the growing expectations of the vendor community. Danny's appointment reflects Wavelink's commitment to New Zealand as a growth market and positions the business to accelerate its momentum, especially as many vendors serve both the Australian and New Zealand markets. Danny's industry experience, local insight, and partner-first mindset align strongly with Wavelink's values, and the company is confident he will play a key role in shaping the next phase of its ANZ expansion." Danny Meadows will operate from Auckland, tasked with developing Wavelink's network of partners and building a local team. His background includes decades in the IT industry and experience building high-performing teams within both distribution and vendor roles. His main focus will be on onboarding and enabling partners, helping ensure that Wavelink's proven approach and vendor portfolio is effectively introduced to the New Zealand market. Danny Meadows, regional manager, New Zealand, Wavelink, said, "I'm excited to be joining Wavelink and using my extensive network and local knowledge to further establish the New Zealand arm of the organisation. Wavelink's unique approach to distribution will be a huge selling point to open doors to channel partners. Wavelink's reputation for delivering genuine channel value and its strong portfolio of vendors make this an ideal time to launch a local presence in New Zealand. I'm looking forward to building the business with the support of an experienced and committed team." The company's move is seen as a response to global vendor demand for consistent coverage and strengthened capability across the Australia and New Zealand region. By investing in local leadership and market capability, Wavelink aims to reinforce its position as a trusted partner across both sides of the Tasman. Follow us on: Share on:

Discovery Consulting names Shobhit Garg as National Supply Lead
Discovery Consulting has appointed Shobhit Garg as its National Supply Chain Practice Lead as Australian manufacturers increase adoption of cloud-based ERP and digital supply chain solutions. This appointment is positioned to expand Discovery Consulting's Digital Supply Chain capabilities, particularly as manufacturers and asset-intensive sectors across Australia and the Asia-Pacific region pursue operational modernisation using new ERP technologies. Garg brings more than two decades of SAP experience across manufacturing, pharmaceuticals, mining and discrete industries to the role. Extensive experience Garg began his career in 2001, gaining early exposure to shop floor operations in the manufacturing sector. This first-hand insight into manufacturing operations was followed by a transition into enterprise technology, where he contributed to SAP implementations in the United States, India, Asia-Pacific, and Australia. Garg has worked with large consulting firms such as Deloitte, Accenture, KPMG, and NTT DATA. His specialist expertise lies in S/4HANA Manufacturing and SAP Digital Supply Chain solutions, and he has delivered major projects for clients including General Electric, Novartis, Goodman Fielder, and Nutrition Care Pharma. Discovery Consulting has indicated that Shobhit Garg will focus on supporting mid-sized and asset-intensive manufacturers as they transition away from legacy systems and spreadsheets towards more integrated and scalable ERP platforms. This comes as more manufacturers in Australia seek to address the challenges of operational silos and the need for real-time visibility across supply chains. Market dynamics The move responds to a significant shift within Australia's manufacturing and resources sectors towards cloud-based enterprise technology. Businesses seek solutions that allow them to streamline operations, reduce costs, and maintain competitiveness in an environment shaped by regulatory demands and global competition. "I'm thrilled to join Discovery Consulting at such a pivotal time," said Garg. "There's a clear appetite in the Australian market for more integrated, agile, and cost-effective solutions, particularly among manufacturing and mining businesses. As smaller manufacturers move away from manual processes and spreadsheets, S/4HANA public cloud offers a scalable entry point to end-to-end digital transformation and a step closer to achieving operational excellence." In his new capacity, Garg will be responsible for building and leading the SAP Digital Supply Chain practice. This includes hiring dedicated consultants and developing specialised solutions that address the evolving needs of regional manufacturers and asset-intensive enterprises. Leadership comments "We're pleased to welcome Shobhit to the team," shared Rod Gallagher, CEO of Discovery Consulting. "His outstanding track record and deep understanding of manufacturing and supply chain challenges offer our clients a unique advantage in their digital transformation journey. Shobhit will play a key role in accelerating our growth and enhancing our ability to deliver industry-leading solutions to clients across Australia and beyond." He has managed greenfield and brownfield SAP projects globally and is noted for his expertise in guiding companies from legacy platforms to centralised, cloud-based SAP architectures. Discovery Consulting aims to address the increasing digitisation witnessed in these industries, assisting businesses as they update their technology to meet the demands of a rapidly shifting market. Christchurch engineering firm sold to Canadian company
A Canadian company with an international reach in sustainable engineering and environmental consulting has bought Christchurch-headquartered engineering firm Cosgroves. The Toronto Stock Exchange and New York Stock Exchange-listed Stantec paid an undisclosed sum for its latest acquisition. Cosgroves has more than 90 staff across New Zealand and works with clients, architects, project managers and other professionals in consulting engineering on private and public building projects such as the redevelopment of the Christchurch Town Hall. Stantec said the addition of Cosgroves would expand its buildings' engineering capabilities in New Zealand, particularly in fire engineering, electrical, mechanical, hydraulics, buildings' sustainability, and civil expertise. Cosgroves was expected to support Stantec's growth in healthcare, advanced manufacturing and data centres. The acquisition will increase Stantec's market presence in New Zealand by about 10%, to more than 900 staff. Stantec president and chief executive officer Gord Johnston said in a statement bringing Cosgroves on board would diversify its offerings and reinforce its position among top-ranked firms in New Zealand. ''Our two firms have shared values and a history of working together, and our complementary strengths will support our strategic plan in a key region we've identified as a core area for growth.' The combined Cosgroves and Stantec team sees itself nicely positioned to make the most of increased public funding in healthcare in the next decade, and to increase market share in New Zealand and Australia. Cosgroves founding director Brady Cosgrove said the company had delivered reliable, sustainably focused services for nearly 30 years and was now facing an exciting opportunity for growth. 'In joining Stantec, we are positioning ourselves to capitalise on increased investments through our local relationships and Stantec's international experience, while providing our staff with expanded opportunities to work on national and international projects.' Stantec said it had experienced strong business growth in New Zealand in the water, transportation, and government sectors and expanded its regional footprint with the acquisition of Cardno, Traffic Design Group (TDG), and MWH. In 2019 Stantec also bought Australian buildings engineering firm Wood & Grieve Engineers. Previously Cosgroves has provided consulting engineering services for projects such as the Rutherford Regional Science and Innovation Centre at the University of Canterbury, Invercargill Central redevelopment to breathe life back into the central business district, Manukau Health Park, Canterbury District Health Board's Outpatients Building and the development of The Court Theatre.
