A Japanese man who went viral for mimicking a dog has launched a new business renting out his dog costume to like-minded people.
As a result, he hopes those who share his interests, will be able to fulfil their dream of 'becoming an animal'.
The man, known as Toco, from Saitama prefecture, east-central Honshu, Japan, had dreamed of becoming a dog since childhood.
He decided to pursue his dream and, to make it a reality, spent 2 million yen (US$13,000) to buy a costume from a company specialising in film props and designs. One of Toco's fake canines rolls around like a happy, real dog. Photo: Instagram/@ toco.ev
He chose a costume of his favourite dog breed, the collie, which weighs 4kg and features a movable mouth, tail and paws.

Chile hands luxury watches stolen from actor Keanu Reeves over to the FBI

Chilean authorities said on Tuesday they turned six valuable watches stolen from Canadian actor Keanu Reeves – including an engraved Rolex worth at least US$9,500 – over to the US Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), months after recovering them in a police raid. Advertisement The FBI will arrange for their return to Reeves , best known for his roles in action franchises such as The Matrix and John Wick. Chilean prosecutors told reporters that Reeves had identified the watches as those stolen from his Los Angeles home during a string of high-profile burglaries in December 2023. The announcement was made as the Trump administration's Secretary of Homeland Security, Kristi Noem , arrived in the South American country for meetings with Chilean officials about transnational crime, among other issues. Noem was also the victim of a robbery attributed to a Chilean national living illegally in the US, when her handbag was stolen last April at a Washington restaurant. Advertisement Reeves' six watches are valued at a total of US$125,000, said Marcelo Varas, a police officer from Chile's robbery investigation squad.

Labubu retailer Pop Mart focused on taking Chinese brand to world, CEO says

A new wave of Chinese consumer companies, led by toymaker Pop Mart, is seeking a greater global presence, reflecting China's strategic pivot towards exporting its brands, and not just products. 'We originally hoped to become China's Disney; now we hope to become the world's Pop Mart,' the company's founder and CEO, Wang Ning, said in an interview with state broadcaster China Central Television on Thursday. 'We use China's manufacturing industry and market to incubate artists from all over the world, and bring their creations back out to the world.' Pop Mart, a retailer with an intellectual property-focused business model, has seen its international revenue soar with the explosive global popularity of its Labubu dolls. The plush character with pointy ears, jagged teeth and signature mischievous grin, has gained high-profile fans like Lisa from K-pop group Blackpink and global music icon Rihanna, and is often sold out around the world. The company's revenue from markets outside mainland China surged 375.2 per cent to 5.07 billion yuan (US$708.35 million) last year and is set for further growth. 'This year, overseas sales will likely surpass domestic sales,' Wang said, noting that sales in North America were expected to exceed sales in Southeast Asia, its top-performing overseas market last year.
