More stellar acts unveiled for Little Simz' Meltdown Festival at London's Southbank Centre
Each year, Meltdown chooses a different musical act to direct the festival's programme.
In February
, Mercury Prize-winning artist Little Simz was revealed as the curator of the 30th edition at London's Southbank Centre, which will take place from 12-22 June.
Last month, we already got an
impressive announcement of artists
including The Streets, MOBO Award-winning London-born rapper Ghetts and multi-award winning jazz pianist Jon Batiste - best known to many as the co-composer of the Oscar-winning score for Pixar's
Soul
.
Now, the already stacked line-up gets more names, with Grammy-nominated R&B singer Mahalia, who will play in the Royal Festival Hall on the first Friday night of the festival (13 June). Joining her on this year's ticket is queen of afrobeats and MTV EMA-winning Nigerian singer Tiwa Savage (Saturday 14 June); hip-hop and jazz melding legends BADBADNOTGOOD; and the acclaimed Ivor Novello and Mercury Prize Award-winning James Blake (20 June).

We're particularly excited about the inclusion of London-born saxophonist Nubya Garcia, who will play at the Queen Elizabeth Hall on 19 June (if you haven't heard her most recent album, 'Odyssey', it's a must-listen), and the presence of Illinois singer-songwriter Kara Jackson, whose 2023 album 'Why Does The Earth Give Us People To Love?' was an arresting and quite simply glorious storytelling gem.

Ranging from jazz, hip hop, R&B, electronic and soul with a line up of both renowned legends alongside the creators of the future, this is going to be London's go-to festival this summer.'

As for Little Simz herself, she commented: 'My team and I have prepared eleven days of art, music, workshops and more. So many incredible artists have curated this festival so it's a true honour to be a part of it. Thank you to the Southbank Centre for having me. Meltdown 2025 the Simz way is going to be epic. I'll see you there.'

It's worth keeping in mind (we certainly haven't forgotten) that Little Simz will be releasing her sixth album 'Lotus' on 6 June.

'Sometimes I Might Be Introvert', 'Lotus' was originally scheduled to be released on 9 May but was delayed "due to a scheduling of shooting a movie that just came in."
"Not ideal for me or you I know, trust me I've tried many ways around it but just means I can't do the film otherwise. If there was ever a time I ask for your grace and patience it is now."

Milan women's fashion week reveals a packed lineup for September
KNWLS will make its Milan debut on Wednesday, September 24. Known for its sexy, Y2K-inspired silhouettes and focus on feminine empowerment, the London-based brand has built strong momentum in recent years. English designer Charlotte Knowles and her Canadian partner Alexandre Arsenault founded the label in 2017. A finalist for the 2022 LVMH Prize, KNWLS now appears in more than 50 top multi-brand retailers worldwide. Several designers will return to the Milan schedule this season after recent absences, including Boss, Calcaterra, Federico Cina, The Attico, and Stella Jean. Anglo-Nigerian designer Ineye Tokyo James, who first showed in Milan in February 2022 and returned in digital format last March, will also be back. A day earlier, on Saturday, September 27, the CNMI Sustainable Fashion Awards will honor leadership in eco-conscious fashion. Launched in 2017 by the Italian Fashion Chamber, the awards have become a benchmark in sustainable innovation. This summer edition will also see several brands step away from the schedule. In addition to Versace, both Marni and Bally will remain absent as they undergo creative transitions. Fiorucci will now appear on the Men's Fashion Week calendar, having shifted its showing to June. Heavyweight shooter 'Battlefield 6' to appear in October
A longtime rival to the dominant "Call of Duty" series, the latest "Battlefield" instalment's story and game modes were unveiled at closed-door events for journalists and influencers in Paris, London and Los Angeles. Boasting hyper-realistic graphics and completely destructible environments, the new game drops players onto the front lines in a world where the United States is at war with a private militia supported by countries that have quit NATO. "Battlefield 6" is set for release on PC, Xbox Series and PlayStation 5 after development by studios worldwide, including Sweden's Dice, the outfit that crafted the series's beloved first episode launched in 2002. EA claims more than 100 million players globally since the first appearance for the series, which has a well-worn formula. Two large teams of players battle across a miles-wide zone that might be ripped from the pages of history or completely fictitious. The dozens of teammates can fight on foot or pilot tanks and jets, with the gameplay rewarding coordinated efforts to capture objectives and wipe out the enemy. "Battlefield" had even made forays into the future, with the most recent instalment, "Battlefield 2042", taking place 20 years ahead of its 2021 release date -- although the latest episode has its feet firmly planted in present-day conflict. Electronic Arts does not reveal official sales figures, but has acknowledged that "2042" did not perform as well as expected. Its bosses will be hoping a return to the contemporary world of the third and fourth games released in the early 2010s will revive flagging sales. The new release will go head-to-head in autumn with "Call of Duty: Black Ops 7", one of a long-rolling string of games in the franchise from Activision Blizzard, whose release date has yet to be revealed. Messi and his wife steal the show on Coldplay's notorious kiss cam
Lionel Messi made a surprise appearance at Coldplay's final US tour stop and found himself in the crosshairs of the now-infamous Kiss Cam. But unlike that other notorious recent couple, there was no dodging, ducking, or scandal here. Just pure, wholesome vibes with his wife, Antonela Roccuzzo, and their three kids. The family attended the band's "Music of the Spheres" show at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami, where Messi's cameo on the jumbotron sent the crowd - and even Chris Martin - into a frenzy. "Well Leo, my beautiful brother," Martin serenaded mid-show. "You and your wife are looking so fine. Thanks for coming today to see our band play, the number one sports person of all time!" The moment couldn't have been more different from the now-viral Coldplay kiss cam incident involving Astronomer CEO Andy Byron and his company's Head of HR, Kristin Cabot. 'Astronomer has gotten a lot of questions over the last few days – and they wanted me to answer the most common ones.' In other Messi news, an AI portrait created by renowned Turkish-American digital artist Refik Anadol and based on the footballer's favourite personal goal recently sold for a $1.87 million (€16.2m) at a Christie's auction. The goal in question? His iconic 2009 Champions League looping header against Manchester United that sealed the match (and Barcelona's first treble).
