Outcry after ICE arrests migrants at LA car wash on independence day
Liberal Los Angeles residents were outraged as ICE agents with bulletproof vests spent the Fourth of July holiday continuing to carry out Donald Trump 's mass deportation promise. One video showed a raid at a West Hollywood car wash, showing a man who alleged to have been in the country for 30 years. His son, who had been alerted to the raid, was left asking: 'Why? My dad is not a criminal. He was working at a car wash on 4th of July. My dad came to work today on the Fourth of July. He loves his country. We've been here as long as I've been around,' the son, who wouldn't identify himself, added. The owner of the Santa Palm Car Wash was reportedly in the bathroom when the raid happened and enraged that he had not been informed. They told NBC Los Angeles that they arrested several people who have worked at the car wash for decades in the span of ten minutes at around 11am. Another employee was seen being tackled in a nearby alley. The city of West Hollywood issued a statement criticizing federal officials for the holiday raid. 'On a day meant to honor the ideals of liberty, democracy, and freedom from oppression, we instead confront a deeply troubling reminder of federal overreach. Independence Day should be a time for reflection and reverence, not fear and persecution,' they said. Federal agents arrested around 1,600 people for deportation in Southern California over the holiday, The LA Times said. The mayhem Friday broke out just hours before the President signed his so-called 'big, beautiful bill' into law - a sweeping $150 billion package that boosts funding for the border wall, ICE enforcement and deportations, while slashing Medicaid. The massive tax and spending bill passed by the House on Thursday includes huge infusion of funding for Immigration and Customs Enforcement, tripling its annual budget for an agency that is under fire by Democrats. 'ICE gets $45 billion more to supercharge their kidnapping and disappearing of people of all legal statuses,' progressive Rep. Pramilla Jayapal, D-Wash., warned on Thursday after the bill passed. The additional ICE funding represents a nearly threefold increase in the agency's 2024 budget of around $10 billion, though additional funds were also provided to other border security efforts, like completing a wall along the U.S.-Mexico border. House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries noted on Thursday that 'a deportation machine will be unleashed on steroids' under the new legislation. The extra funding for ICE will help grow its migrant detention centers, boost its deportation efforts, and hire an estimated 10,000 additional agents. 'With this vote, Congress makes ICE the highest-funded federal law enforcement agency in history, with more money per year at its disposal over the next four years than the budgets of the FBI, DEA, ATF, US Marshals, and Bureau of Prisons combined,' Aaron Reichlin-Melnick of the left-leaning American Immigration Council posted on X. Republicans, however, were jubilant about the increased border security funding. 'I speak on behalf of the entire agency when I say that ICE is grateful to President Trump for putting in the hard work necessary to get the Big Beautiful Bill across the finish line — but the real win is for the American people,' acting ICE Director Todd Lyons wrote in response to the bill's passage. 'The unprecedented funding for ICE will enable my hard-working officers and agents to continue making America safe again by identifying, arresting, and removing criminal aliens from our communities.' Though not all of the funds are going directly to ICE, a significant portion will support ICE-related projects, particularly migrant detention and removal operations. Under the new legislation, $45 billion is earmarked to expand migrant detention capacity to more than 100,000 beds. Approximately $52 billion is allocated for the construction and maintenance of the border wall and related Customs and Border Protection (CBP) facilities. The bill also authorizes $10 billion in grant funding to reimburse states for border security expenses incurred during the Biden administration. Up to $6.2 billion is approved for enhanced border surveillance technology and vetting systems. Additionally, the bill includes $4.1 billion to hire more Border Patrol agents and $2 billion for retention and signing bonuses. The increased funding will help authorities process and deport the estimated 10 million migrants who entered the U.S. illegally under the Biden administration. 'The Big Beautiful Bill has officially passed! Here's what it means for CBP and the American people: 701 miles of new, modern border wall, 3,000 new Border Patrol agents to defend our borders, 5,000 new Customs officers to secure our ports of entry,' CBP posted on X. 'Massive upgrades to technology, infrastructure, and enforcement power. This is historic. Border security is national security—and under President Trump, we're getting the job done.'

Chiefs owner's wife confirms loss in Texas floods
The wife of Kansas City Chiefs owner Clark Hunt (pictured) has confirmed the tragic loss of a family member as a result of the devastating Texas floods. The total death toll has risen to 82 after the Guadalupe River flooded and surged by up to 30 feet above its usual water level on Friday. 68 bodies have been found, including 28 children. Clark's wife, Tavia, revealed that Janie Hunt (pictured)- a young cousin in the family - was among the Camp Mystic campers who died during the incident. Taking to Instagram, she wrote: 'Our hearts are broken by the devastation from the floods in Wimberley and the tragic loss of so many lives — including a precious little Hunt cousin, along with several friend's little girls.' Eleven girls are missing from Camp Mystic in Hunt, Texas, and five of their fellow campers have died after the rushing waters destroyed the all-girls private Christian summer camp. Beloved director of Camp Mystic, Richard 'Dick' Eastland, 70, died while trying to save girls as a month's worth of rain dropped in a matter of minutes. One week before the tragedy, the camp shared videos on social media of the campers happily prancing around on stage during their first term chorus and dance production. The youngest campers slept on low-laying 'flats' inside the camp's cabins, whereas older girls slept in cabins on higher ground, according to the NYT. Most of the missing girls are from the younger age bracket, who were sleeping just yards away from the banks of the Guadalupe River. Texas Governor Greg Abbott said that some 750 girls had been staying at the camp when the floodwaters hit. Abbott also vowed that authorities will work around the clock as they continue to search for missing people and later declared Sunday as a day of prayer. In a statement, he said: 'I urge every Texan to join me in prayer this Sunday — for the lives lost, for those still missing, for the recovery of our communities, and for the safety of those on the front lines'. Relatives of the missing have started arriving in the Kerrville area from across the Lone Star State to provide investigators with DNA samples. The federal agency issued a flood watch on Thursday at 1:18pm, estimating up to seven inches of rain on Friday morning in South Central Texas . A flash flood warning was issued at 1:14am on Friday, with a more extreme warning coming at 4:03am, urging people to immediately evacuate to high grounds as the situation became 'extremely dangerous and life-threatening.' The estimate of the dead is vastly different than the message state officials are projecting publicly, insisting that they are still searching for people who are alive , and refusing to say rescue efforts have shifted to recovery of remains. 'Our state assets and local partners are continuing to search for live victims,' the head of TDEM W. Nim Kidd told reporters at a press conference Saturday. 'Our hope and prayer is that there is still people alive that are out there.'

CCTV footage taken outside disgraced financier Jeffrey Epstein has now been released, six years after the notorious paedophile was found dead. Around 11 hours of CCTV footage taken from inside the Metropolitan Correctional Centre in New York City on August 9 and 10 2019 has been publicly revealed for the first time, amide a probe into his death. Following his arrest on multiple charges, including sex trafficking, he was found unresponsive in his cell early in the morning of August 10 and was later declared dead in hospital. Coroners at the time ruled he had committed suicide by hanging, and now an FBI and Department of Justice (DoJ) investigation into his death has concluded the same. The footage, released as part of the investigation, appears to shows the orange-clad paedophile being led to his cells by a guard and being trailed by a second one at 7.49pm on the night of August 9. The trio were apparently seen walking across common area as the move to Epstein's cell in the video, released to US news site Axios. The DoJ said that while the footage doesn't show his cell door, it would capture anyone moving to it. And other than the guards leaving, no one else walks to or from Epstein's cell. The joint investigation has concluded that Epstein was not murdered, nor did he blackmail powerful figures or keep a 'client list.' The well-connected financier and Maxwell kept a wide circle of friends from fellow billionaires to politicians like Trump and Clinton, and entertainment icons. The memo from the FBI and DOJ announced that no one involved in the Epstein case will follow former right-hand woman Ghislaine Maxwell to prison, as no further charges will be filed. Epstein's death led to several conspiracy theories and a general hunger for knowledge regarding his crimes. In May, the FBI's deputy director Dan Bongino confirmed the footage was set to be released, following a campaign pledge by US president Donald Trump. The issue of Epstein's death has charged many in Trump's sphere. In March, his attorney general Pam Bondi released hundreds of pages detailing information connected to Epstein, claiming to have disclosed 'a lot of names' and flight logs that would 'make you sick.' The first wave of documents have largely been circulating in the public domain for years and so far are yet to include any new bombshells, leading to great disappointment from the public. 'What you're going to see, hopefully tomorrow, is a lot of flight logs, a lot of names, a lot of information,' Bondi previewed on Fox. 'But, it's pretty sick what that man did, along with his co-defendant,' referring to Ghislaine Maxwell. The officially declassified material included flight logs, Epstein's infamous contact book, an evidence list and a masseuse list in ten different links posted to the Department of Justice website. The contact list, which has previously circulated in various forms, shows redacted information for dozens of the Hollywood, political and fashion elite and was purportedly compiled by Epstein and his longtime confidante Maxwell. Personal contact information was redacted throughout the list. FBI Director Kash Patel had been a skeptic of the official findings behind Epstein's death, however, he told Joe Rogan that since he'd taken over the bureau, he hadn't found 'what you want,' which he described as 'some guy or gal committing felonies.' 'If I had it, I'd be the first guy to bring this case hard and fast,' Patel claimed. He added that his team at the FBI has viewed everything they have been given lawful access to from the infamous island. Epstein's 'pedo island' aka Little Saint James in the US Virgin Islands was a focal point of his horrific child-sex-trafficking operation. It has long been believed that Epstein hosted a wide array of rich and famous clients at the island. Patel said that the bureau is doing the best that they can and encouraged anyone with information to get in touch. 'I got here 100 days ago. I can't be held to account for 20 years of failures,' he said. Though Patel claimed that his FBI will 'give you everything we can' he does have some boundaries set around Epstein's victims. 'Remember, we're not gonna' re-victimize women. We're not gonna' put that s*** back out there. It's not happening because then, he wins.'
