Codes and creeds in freelancing
She spoke about the importance of professionalism in freelancing — from email etiquette and invoicing to client contracts and boundary-setting. She stressed that a successful freelance career demands more than creative skill; it requires consistency, clarity, and a strong mindset. A passage from the book, read aloud by Satyabama, struck a chord with the audience: 'The higher the price, the higher your quality of leads and results will need to break free from your mental prison and let your value shine.' While the publishing industry and creative careers reel under the weight of artificial intelligence, Meenakshi offered a grounded perspective that cut through the hype. Addressing a question on AI's influence in content creation, she said, 'I believe AI is great at giving information, but the voice and the tone — that only you can bring in.' Her advice to freelancers: 'AI is a tool. It should be used as a collaborator, not a competitor.' She reframed AI from being a looming presence to a partner in process — capable of offering suggestions, but not stealing the soul of the work. 'Let's say I have writer's block or I want a structure for something. If I key in a prompt into ChatGPT, I would get a couple of ideas. I might then pick and choose from that and craft it in my own way.' In the closing remarks, Dr Jayalakshmi, head of the English Department, said, 'It's inspiring to see how she dealt with everything from ghosting clients to difficult conversations — and still kept at it.' She added with a smile, 'Seeing the brave attitude and resilience in our students makes me think — maybe I should freelance too.'

GPT 5 Launch To Come With New ChatGPT ‘Go' Premium Plan? Here's What We Know
ChatGPT 5 launch is widely expected this month but could we also see a new cheaper Go premium version? OpenAI is close to releasing the GPT 5 version in the market but it seems the company also has one more big weapon in its plans. New reports say ChatGPT could get a new premium version that will be priced lower than the Plus model. The new ChatGPT Go subscription tier could allow OpenAI to add more paid users to its network, and give more people the chance to try out the popular features without spending big on the AI chatbot. ChatGPT Go being priced below the 'Plus' version means you are looking at a sub-$15 (Rs 1,200 approx) per month plan which should get less number of features than the Plus and the Pro variants. ChatGPT Go Launch News: Will It Work? The Go version has been spotted in the internal version of the app so we are not sure if OpenAI will ever bring it to the public. There is not much known about the features and benefits of signing up for the supposed 'Go' version but we are sure that premium features like Sora to generate videos and access to high-end ChatGPT models will not be available. ChatGPT Plus has been the preferred model at $20 (Rs 1,900 per month in India) while the Pro version comes at $200 (Rs 16,000 approx) which is too pricey for most users. Bringing a Go version makes a lot of sense and if OpenAI can price it right, as well as give it the right feature set, the company could make merry. OpenAI is bringing the much-awaited ChatGPT 5 version in August and it seems the company is already scared of the new AI model. We are eager to see if the supposed Go model is also part of the big reveal. Sam Altman, the man leading the AI charge with ChatGPT has been quoted saying some worrying things about the upcoming AI chatbot version, which he says, 'feels very fast," than the previous iterations. 'There are moments in the history of science, where you have a group of scientists look at their creation and just say, you know: 'What have we done?," he was quoted saying in the podcast. view comments First Published: August 06, 2025, 08:17 IST Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's.
