FAM avoids comment on Cklamovski's interference claims in Harimau Malaya
THE Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) has declined to comment on national team head coach Peter Cklamovski's allegations of interference in team management, stating that the matter should be clarified by the coach himself.
FAM president Datuk Mohd Joehari Mohd Ayub said the Australian-born coach's remarks regarding external influences on the national squad require direct explanation to prevent unnecessary speculation.
'We don't know what Peter meant. I think it's best to ask him directly,' he told reporters after the 2025 FAM First Extraordinary General Meeting (EGM) here today.
Recent media reports highlighted Cklamovski's claims of internal challenges, including political factors and obstacles faced by the national team under his leadership as they aim to progress internationally.
The coach made these statements following Malaysia's 4-0 win over Vietnam in the second Group F match of the 2027 Asian Cup Qualifiers at Bukit Jalil National Stadium on June 10.
'Let Peter explain it himself. Sometimes, when statements are translated or relayed, the context can get lost. So honestly, it's best to ask him directly,' Joehari added.
Despite the controversy, he reiterated FAM's unwavering support for the Harimau Malaya coaching staff since Cklamovski's appointment.
'As the FAM president, I can assure you that we give 100 per cent, even 150 per cent, support to the coach and the players. We are always behind them,' he said.

FAM president Datuk Mohd Joehari Mohd Ayub, who chaired the meeting, said the appointment was based on Hamidin's credibility, vast experience and significant contributions to the development of football both domestically and internationally over the past 30 years. Speculation over Hamidin's appointment as honorary president arose after he announced he would not defend his position as FAM president at the Election Congress in January. "We do need Tan Sri's presence, particularly given his extensive network with the Federation of International Football Associations (FIFA), ASEAN Football Federation (AFF), Asian Football Confederation (AFC), as well as with government bodies and the private sector - we need those connections. Tan Sri's function is more advisory, and he also serves as an ambassador for FAM. "Like I said, it's not a matter of overshadowing or anything like that. Iskandar joins BAM as singles coach
KUALA LUMPUR: The BA of Malaysia's search for a national singles coach is over. Former national shuttler Iskandar Zulkarnain Zainuddin will take up the post from Oct 1. BAM president Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Abdul Aziz confirmed today the appointment of Iskandar, who is currently Ireland's head coach. "We have a new coach, Iskandar, to support the singles team. He will be returning from Ireland and will join us on Oct 1," said Tengku Zafrul. Iskandar, 34, who was the 2009 World Junior Championships runner-up and a 2016 Thomas Cup team member, first joined Ireland as a sparring partner in September, 2021 while still active on the World Tour. However, the Kuala Lumpur-born Iskandar decided to retire and became Ireland's national coach in the same year. Ireland was also impressed with his services and signed a contract with him until the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics. Iskandar, whose work had been commended by national singles coaching director Kenneth Jonassen, will fill the spot left vacant by Indonesian Jeffer Rosobin in February. BAM secretary Datuk Kenny Goh said Iskandar will guide the Ireland squad for the World Championships in August before moving back to Malaysia. Earlier, BAM also had Chong Wei Feng on their radar but the former Sea Games champion had decided to continue focusing on his private academies in the Klang Valley.
