Man in Raleigh gets 23 years for drug trafficking
Myquan Taquil Houston, aka 'Dirty,' pled guilty on January 13, 2025, to the offenses of conspiracy to distribute and possession with the intent to distribute 40 grams or more of a substance containing fentanyl, and possession with intent to distribute 40 grams or more of a substance containing fentanyl and 500 grams or more of cocaine.
Court documents say that Houston and another person sold fentanyl to a confidential informant five times in Raleigh. Houston's house in Knightdale, North Carolina was searched by officials on July 26, 2025. They found 502.29 grams of cocaine, 41.54 grams of cocaine base (crack), 134.46 grams of fentanyl and ANPP, 26.6 grams of Oxycodone, digital scales, a loaded .45 caliber handgun, two cellphones, and $7,970 in U.S. currency. After investigation, Houston sold around $1,400 of fentanyl every other week for at least a year prior to his arrest, which made him responsible for 1,590.46 grams of fentanyl and 635.1 grams of cocaine.
Houston had prior convictions for felony breaking and entering and conspiracy to distribute and possess with intent to distribute a quantity of cocaine and a quantity of cocaine base (crack), distribution of a quantity of cocaine, and aiding and abetting. He was also on federal supervised release in the Eastern District of North Carolina at the time of these offenses.
Acting U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of North Carolina, Daniel P. Bubar made the announcement after sentencing by U.S. District Judge James C. Dever III. The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives and the Raleigh Police Department investigated the case and Special Assistant U.S. Attorney Aria Q. Merle prosecuted the case.

Shot during a robbery, former Ohio State wrestler now facing Pennsylvania gun, drug charges
NAZARETH, Pennsylvania (WCMH) – A former Ohio State wrestler has been arrested in Pennsylvania on weapons and drug charges. Sammy Sasso, 25, was arrested on July 16 in Nazareth, Pa., a borough in eastern Pennsylvania about 70 miles north of Philadelphia. According to the Nazareth police department, Sasso was charged with firearms not to be carried without a license, possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, and operating an unregistered vehicle. Sasso, who grew up in Nazareth, was pulled over for an expired Ohio registration on the evening of July 16, police said. Sasso was allegedly found with marijuana and a firearm in the car. He was arrested and the car was towed from the scene, police said. A later search of the car allegedly yielded three more guns and more drugs. Police claim Sasso had neither. Sasso was arraigned and booked into Northampton County Prison on $35,000 bail. While a student at Ohio State University, Sasso was shot during a robbery attempt in August 2023 in Weinland Park. He returned to the wrestling mat in November 2024 before retiring from active competition in February. Earlier this month, he accepted a coaching position with Lehigh University in Pennsylvania, approximately 16 miles south of where he was arrested.
