Iron Man game details leaked by EA as Marvel 1943: Rise Of Hydra delayed

Metro14-05-2025
A major Marvel title has been delayed to next year, as details emerge around EA's upcoming Iron Man game via a job listing.
It's easy to forget about the huge number of Marvel games in development, as there are so few tangible details about any of them.
Beyond Insomniac's Wolverine, we have a standalone Black Panther game from Cliffhanger Games, an Iron Man title from EA Motive, Arkane Lyon's Blade, throwback brawler Marvel Cosmic Invasion, and Marvel 1943: Rise Of Hydra from Uncharted director Amy Hennig.
While the latter was due to be released later this year, developer Skydance New Media has announced it has now been delayed to early 2026.
'Taking this additional time will allow us to add more polish, and make sure we give you the best possible experience, and one that lives up to our vision,' read the brief statement from Skydance Games. 'We have some exciting things in store and look forward to sharing more soon!'
A trailer for Marvel 1943: Rise Of Hydra was released last year. The action game will revolve around four heroes, namely Captain America, Black Panther, Howling Commandos member Gabriel Jones, and Wakandan leader Nanali, in an original story.
Considering we haven't seen any gameplay from the project yet, the delay isn't exactly surprising. A 2026 launch could benefit the game timing wise too, as it might get a bump from the release of crossover film Avengers: Doomsday in May next year.
However, that does start to stray perilously close to the release date of GTA 6, which is currently set for May 26.
Beyond Marvel: 1943: Rise Of Hydra, a job listing for EA Motive's Iron Man has outed new details about the single-player action game.
As noted in the level designer advert, EA Motive is looking for someone who can 'design and build major single-player levels, within the project's creative constraints'. More Trending
While it isn't stated explicitly, this description suggests the game could be level-based. However, a prior job listing on the same game described it as an 'open world action adventure AAA title', so it's unclear if plans have changed, or if it's simply referring to levels within the open world.
The listing also calls for 'experience in single-player action RPG games', which is the first mention we've had of any role-playing mechanics (even if it will likely just mean some sort of skill tree.
Development on Iron Man is being led by Olivier Proulx, who previously worked on the acclaimed Guardians Of The Galaxy game for Square Enix. No footage has been shown, yet but the studio apparently hit a 'major internal milestone' on the project last year.
With so many unknowns, we could hear more about both projects at Summer Game Fest on June 6, 2025. However, EA Motive is also working on the next Battlefield, which is set to launch before March 2026, so any news about Iron Man might be held back till after that.

Sacha Baron Cohen, 53, claims he was 'only joking' about using Ozempic to get his ripped revenge body and insists transformation is 'down to hard work'

may be feeling slightly embarrassed as he backtracked on claims he'd used Ozempic to help achieve his new ripped physique. The actor, 53, who has has undergone an incredible body transformation for his role as Marvel's newest supervillain Mephisto, took to Instagram on Wednesday and said his new abs were in part thanks to the use of the weight loss drug. But now his representatives have insisted to MailOnline that the Borat star was 'only joking' and his new buff physique 'all down to hard work'. After debuting his chiseled muscles in the new issue of Men's Fitness UK, Sacha, who split with Isla Fisher in 2023, after more than two decades together, re-shared the photoshoot to social media. He captioned the snaps: 'Some celebs use Ozempic, some use private chefs, some use personal trainers. I did all three.' 'This is not AI. I really am egotistical enough to do this. The actor who has has undergone an incredible body transformation for his role as took to his Instagram Stories to make the claim (pictured as Borat) 'Debuting my new character. Middle aged man who replaced beer with protein shakes.' Sacha then thanked his personal trainer, writing: 'Thanks @theangrytrainer for doing the unthinkable - putting up with me for 25 minutes a day.' He revealed he had just three weeks to get into superhero shape, putting in the 'hard work' ready to portray Mephisto, a devil-like figure who makes Faustian bargains. Speaking to Men's Fitness UK, the actor revealed he turned to Matthew McConaughey to get the phone number of celebrity trainer Alfonso Moretti, who has well-established reputation for transforming physiques on impossible deadlines. Sacha went on to have a FaceTime meeting with Alfonso, who got him to strip down to his underwear during their first chat. Due to the short time frame and Alfonso workout methods, Sacha was tasked with being 'consistent' by doing '100 push ups a day'. Sacha's incredible transformation was far from marathon workouts and extreme dieting, as they concentrated on short workouts and a diet high in fibre and protein as well as low in sugar. He said: '25-minute workouts that were sustainable. Even while filming, the workouts happened. In the past, I would've thought you needed hour-long sessions'. He admitted at the beginning of the regime he 'had the core strength of an arthritic jellyfish... but the short sessions made it so much easier to stay consistent - even with the demands of being on set.' By the two-week mark, Sacha's wardrobe team had to spend $5,000 (£3,600) altering costumes because his body had changed so significantly. He was leaner, stronger, and fitter than ever before. His trainer also shared the magazine's photos to Instagram and wrote that he 'could not be more proud' of Sacha after working out with him. In a recent press conference, Marvel chief Kevin Feige confirmed that Sacha will be portraying MCU character. Sacha first rose to fame in the 1990s with his Ali G character, the infamous spoof wannabe gangster who became a comedy star. He also starred as Borat, a journalist from Kazakhstan, and played the role of flamboyant Austrian fashionista Bruno. The actor made his Mephisto debut in the finale of miniseries Ironheart earlier this month, marking the first appearance of the character in the Marvel Cinematic Universe after years of speculation. One of Marvel's key villains, Mephisto is a demonic entity who acquires souls by making pacts with mortals and has battled the likes of Spider-Man and Doctor Strange.

Does Fantastic Four First Steps have a post-credits scene

The latest Marvel movie is finally arriving in cinemas and it is expected to be a significant entry in the franchise. This is despite the fact studio heads including Kevin Feige having dubbed it as their first standalone movie. That might mean that audiences can be comfortable in going to see the release without needing to have seen one of the many films or television spin-offs released beforehand. However, that doesn't mean that there won't be any meaningful connections to the overall franchise. It is also the first time these characters will be seen on the big screen since the rights reverted back from Fox to Disney and Marvel. According to the movie's synopsis, the film is set against the vibrant backdrop of a 1960s-inspired, retro-futuristic world. It is a different version of Earth from any of the previous movies. Fans will need to stay in their seats (Image: MARVEL) Audiences will be introduced to Pedro Pascal, Vanessa Kirby, Joseph Quinn and Ebon Moss-Bachrach's versions of Marvel's First Family. Otherwise known as Reed Richards/Mister Fantastic, Sue Storm/Invisible Woman, Johnny Storm/Human Torch, and Ben Grimm/The Thing. Together they are known as the Fantastic Four and they face their most daunting challenge yet. Forced to balance their roles as heroes with the strength of their family bond, they must defend Earth from a ravenous space god called Galactus, played by Ralph Ineson and his enigmatic Herald, Silver Surfer, played by Julia Garner. If Galactus' plan to devour the entire planet and everyone on it wasn't bad enough, it suddenly gets very personal for the heroes. Sue Storm has a significant meeting in one of the scenes (Image: MARVEL) Fans will want to remain in their seats even after the film appears to have finished and before the lights come back on. That is because not only is there a post-credits scene but there is also a mid-credits scene. We will not spoil everything that happens in the scenes however, reports suggest that it will have huge ramifications for upcoming titles in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. It is no surprise at all considering that one of these scenes was directed by Joe and Anthony Russo. The pair directed films including Avengers Infinity War, Endgame and are set to return with Doomsday. There is also a post-credits scene right at the end of the movie. Similarly to more recent comic book movie releases, this scene is a more light hearted and fun add-on to the film rather than including any major reveals. The new Fantastic Four has already earned an impressive 89% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. At the time of writing it does not yet have a fan score, with the general public only just being able to go see the film for themselves. The Fantastic Four: First Steps is in cinemas now.

‘This is not AI': why oiled-up abs are the least radical thing about Sacha Baron Cohen's reinvention

It is a rite of passage for almost every comic actor working today. You spend years – sometimes even decades – curating a reputation as a happy go lucky, physically anonymous everyman. Then Marvel comes knocking, and you realise that you might have to share a scene with Chris Hemsworth, and next to him you're going to look like a weedy twig-worm hybrid. The next thing you know, you're all over the internet, greased up and flexing. Which is a very long way of saying: Borat's got abs now. Sacha Baron Cohen is this month's Men's Fitness magazine cover model. His pecs are popping. His biceps are bulging. His forearms look like a sack of live snakes. His pants are, conservatively, two and half inches lower than they really should be. His entire torso looks like it's been rolled around in margarine. He is, to use his own words, 'hard launching my mid-life crisis'. And this is all because of Marvel. Sacha Baron Cohen stars in the Disney+ TV show Ironheart as Mephisto. Which might be news to a lot of you, since Ironheart was released right at the moment that superhero fatigue hit such terminal velocity that president of Marvel Studios Kevin Feige essentially chose to promote the Fantastic Four movie by promising everyone that he wasn't going to make as many TV shows any more. But, really, that's beside the point. Because, of all the shredded topless comic actor torso reveals, the only one to go on to any substantial screen time was Chris Pratt. It has now been 12 years since he took his top off for Instagram to show his transformation from 'the schlubby one from Parks and Recreation' to 'man with abdominal muscles', and he has since been in six MCU films, a Christmas special and several other projects that relied on him looking ripped. Contrast that with Kumail Nanjiani, who went from a round-faced, Oscar-nominated writer in 2017 to looking like a vacuum-sealed walnut bag in 2019. And this because he had been cast in The Eternals, in which he effectively had a bit part as one of about 300 new superheroes. Aside from a voice acting gig in one episode of What If…?, that has been the sum total of his MCU output. Which is still a ton compared to Sacha Baron Cohen, whose Mephisto appeared fully clothed in just one episode of a television show that has left no cultural footprint whatsoever. The point is that, while a Marvel gig might ostensibly be the impetus to start pumping iron, it isn't necessarily the end goal. For all anyone knows, we may never see Mephisto again. But the image of Cohen clutching a pair of dumbbells while being covered in more goose fat than a cross-channel swimmer will live for ever. Especially since his earlier career relied upon him showing off as much of his body as he could. Go back and look at photos of him in a mankini as Borat, and you'll see what a change this is. That said, despite being leaner and better defined now, those pictures demonstrate that the most effective element in his transformation may well have been a comprehensive chest wax. Still, let's allow him this moment. If nothing else, Cohen is being neatly self-deprecating about how he looks on Instagram, quipping: 'Some celebs use Ozempic and some use private chefs, others use personal trainers. I did all three,' and 'This is not AI. I really am egotistical enough to do this.' And if it means that he's moving away from comedy – there's no way that Borat can ever wear another mankini unless he's going to aggressively rebrand himself as a thirsty divorcee – then so be it. Between Ironheart and last year's Disclosure, it seems like that's where he was headed anyway. Besides, this reveal puts Sacha Baron Cohen one step closer to the next chapter in the MCU playbook: complaining about how horrible it is to look like this. Chris Pratt did it, claiming that he had to drink so much water that his life became a 'nightmare'. Kumail Nanjiani did it, making a colossal show of getting to eat some cake like a normal person. And so it will inevitably be with Sacha Baron Cohen. That is, unless Mephisto becomes a central part of the MCU in the future. If that's the case, the brand sponsorship with Veet must be just around the corner.
