Tatkal Ticket Booking Rule Change Alert: Indian Railways To Soon Use....Passengers To Get Confirmed Ticket With...

India.com04-06-2025
Booking a confirmed tatkal ticket with Indian Railways has been a dream for many train travellers in India. The Indian Railways Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC)'s website irctc.co.in often hangs, slows down and delays booking by individual passengers. This often leads to outrage among passengers who get waitlisted tickets despite efforts and payment deductions. Notably, the Indian Railways and IRCTC have been working to resolve this issue and make tatak ticket booking by individual passengers smooth.
Now, Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw has announced a change in the booking rules for tatkal tickets. The rule will come into effect soon, said Vaishnaw. "Bharatiya Railways will soon start using e-Aadhaar authentication to book Tatkal tickets. This will help genuine users get confirmed tickets during need," said the minister on X.
With e-Aadhar authentication, the passenger will get OTP on their mobiles and they will have to verify it on the IRCTC ticket booking website. This will weed out fake users/passengers/agents who often book tickets and sell it in black at higher prices to those in need. Aadhaar authentication will help the railways verify the passenger's info and thus, reduce the burden on servers by removing fake users.

DMK tweaks campaign after high court injunction on OTP

Chennai: A day after Madras high court issued an interim injunction restraining DMK from sending one time password (OTP) verification messages during its 'Oraniyil Tamil Nadu' campaign, the party made a change in its enrolment procedure eliminating the usage of OTP for verification. DMK organisational secretary R S Bharathi issued a statement on Tuesday asking DMK cadres to use the updated 'Makkaludan Stalin' mobile app for the membership drive, as the changes have been incorporated in the app. According to the changes, while an OTP will not be requested, the mobile number of a person is mandatory for enrolment. Also, one mobile number is enough for a family even if multiple members from the household get enrolled. If the family members agree, all their mobile numbers can be obtained, Bharathi said. 20% of artisans complete training under Vishwakarma scheme

Pune: As many as 5,974 artisans of the total 29,000 from Pune district registered for the Vishwakarma Scheme have completed the training programme. Around 7,934 artisans have completed the three-stage verification, while 1,960 applications for training are pending. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now Close to 3,768 artisans filed applications with banks seeking loans, of which 998 applications were approved, totalling Rs 10 crore. The PM Vishwakarma Yojana is designed to offer comprehensive support to artisans and craftspeople working with traditional tools. The scheme aims to provide them with skill upgradation and relevant and suitable training opportunities, along with credit access. "We have provided 964 toolkits to the artisans under the scheme so far," Satish Kharat, district village industries officer, said. Most of the registrations are from artisans in trades such as toymaking, garlandmaking, goldsmiths, tailoring, cobblers, and washermen. Sandip Lokhande, who runs a centre to implement the scheme, said although the scheme is extremely beneficial to the artisans, there is a need to ease the process. "The registration process is lengthy as applications are routed through Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) and Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC). Many people face problems linking bank accounts with Aadhaar cards," he said. After registration, artisans have to travel from Pune to Pimpri Chinchwad due to a lack of facilities. "Overall, there is a lack of trainers. Banks also reject loans because the artisan is a fresher or does not have an existing setup," Lokhande said.

Centre owes state 464cr under rural employment scheme

Chennai: Union govt owes TN 464crore in dues under Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGS), Centre told Parliament. This comes as fund allocation and job generation saw a sharp decline over the years. Response to more than seven starred questions from MPs across states, including TN MPs Thamizhachi Thangapandian, TM Selvaganapathi, and Thangathamilselvan, came from ministers in Union rural development ministry. Union minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan said dues comprising wage and material costs were pending due to procedural requirements, fund utilisation pace, and existing liabilities. Centre, having issued new standard operating procedures, is pushing for Aadhaar-linked DBT payments, and is conducting regular reviews to clear backlogs, he added. The statement also revealed that TN's allocation under MGNREGS dropped from 9,743crore in 2022-23 to 7,585crore in 2024-25. The number of person-days generated fell from 3,346 lakh to 3,061 lakh, indicating fewer work opportunities for rural households. Union govt said about 2,884crore of wage dues to TN was released in April this year, and another 50% of material component dues of 858crore in March. Allocations under the Centre's housing scheme will be based on previous usage, pending houses, and current targets. To a query on rural roads, the ministry said 7,375 km of roads were relaid in TN and more have been sanctioned.
