Mets Announce Francisco Lindor Move After Dodgers Game
The New York Mets and Los Angeles Dodgers are playing the rubber match of their three-game series on Thursday. These two teams met in the 2024 National League Championship series, with LA securing a six-game win, but the Mets have responded by taking the 2025 season series.

In Wednesday night's 6-1 victory, New York received an encouraging performance from the middle of its lineup. Juan Soto walked three times, and Pete Alonso homered twice behind him, tallying five RBIs.
Atop the order, shortstop Francisco Lindor went hitless in four at-bats, and seemed to be dealing with some foot discomfort after being hit by a pitch in the first.

While he stayed in the game and played all nine innings, Lindor looked to be nursing some discomfort in that foot. Perhaps in response to this, the Mets have made the move to sit their star shortstop in the series finale, marking just his second missed game all season (assuming he does not pinch-hit).

"A day after taking a painful-looking HBP off his foot but staying in the game (and gutting through some apparent discomfort), Francisco Lindor is out of the Mets' starting lineup against the Dodgers," Anthony DiComo of MLB.come wrote on X.
The Mets made this move official when they announced their starting lineup on X. Luisangel Acuna will take Lindor's spot at shortstop, while Brandon Nimmo takes over the leadoff duties. Shortly after the news that Lindor was not starting on Thursday, he spoke with reporters and revealed he has a broken pinkie toe, but plans to play through it (via SNY).
As they look to take the series from LA, the Mets will have to do so with their star shortstop on the bench.

Senga loaded the bases with no outs the previous inning, too, after allowing a double, hitting a batter and issuing a walk, but a double play helped limit the damage to just a run. 'They weren't good,' Senga said of the runs through a team interpreter. 'It wasn't a pretty sight to see, and as the one actually giving them up, it obviously didn't feel good, either. So moving forward I hope to be able to stay in the game and perform at the level that the team would want for me to stay in the game.' For one game, the Mets offense erupted for more than enough production to help mask Senga's early struggles. The bullpen covered the extra innings.
