Wimbledon: No. 1 Jannik Sinner moves into the 3rd round with a straight-set victory over Vukic
Sinner had 38 winners and just 11 unforced errors in the 1-hour, 40-minute match and saved all four break points he faced.
The owner of three Grand Slam titles advanced to face 52nd-ranked Pedro Martinez of Spain on Saturday.
Wimbledon is the only major tournament where Sinner has yet to reach a final; he lost in the 2023 semifinals at the All England Club.
He won the Australian Open each of the past two years, won the U.S. Open last September and was the runner-up to Carlos Alcaraz at the French Open last month. Sinner took the first two sets in that final and held three championship points before Alcaraz came back to win.

Their conversation turned to golf as Alcaraz said: 'Tom, I saw you playing golf as well. Good swing, good swing, eh?' Holland, a noted tennis fan, responded by saying: 'We should play. I'll give you my number and we'll get a game together'. With two days to relax before his semi-final against American fifth seed Taylor Fritz on Friday, Alcaraz accepted Holland's challenge following his quarter-final victory. 'Once we set up a match on golf, I just go for it. I see him playing sometimes. There are some videos of him playing golf. I would say he could beat me,' Alcaraz told reporters at the All England Club. Alcaraz, a five-time Grand Slam champion, is bidding to win Wimbledon for a third successive year. In his down-time between matches, the world number two has revealed he likes to switch off from tennis by playing golf and travelling into London. The 22-year-old has already played golf with former Wimbledon champion Andy Murray ahead of this year's tournament. Now he wants a celebrity match-up against Holland, who has been performing on stage in Romeo and Juliet in London. 'I would love to play against him in the golf course. For me it would be such an honour,' Alcaraz said. 'I will try to set it up in these two days that I will have much time to do it. So let's see if he will be available, and we'll tee it up.'

The No. 2 seeds defended just one of the three break points they faced against Belgium's Mertens and Russia's Kudermetova. The eighth-seeded team of Mertens and Kudermetova also out-aced Dabrowski and Routliffe 7-2. Dabrowski and Routliffe reached the final at the All England Club last year, but the 2023 U.S. Open champions fell to Kateřina Siniaková of Czechia and Taylor Townsend of the United States. The 33-year-old Dabrowski also lost in the championship game at the grass-court Grand Slam in 2019 with then-partner Xu Yifan of China. Dabrowski was the only Canadian remaining at Wimbledon. Celtics' Brad Stevens shuns idea team is in a rebuild with Jayson Tatum out
BOSTON (AP) — Even before Jayson Tatum limped off the court with a torn Achilles tendon during the Celtics' Eastern Conference semifinals loss to the New York Knicks, Brad Stevens knew big changes would be on tap for the franchise this offseason. Yes, big spending on free agents and contracts had lured in key players like Jrue Holiday and Kristaps Porzingis who, combined with stars Tatum and Jaylen Brown, ultimately helped Boston capture the NBA championship in 2024. But keeping the core of that roster intact next season with Tatum possibly missing all of it while rehabbing from his injury would have come with a combined payroll and luxury tax bill of more than $500 million. And as a team exceeding the second apron of the salary cap, it would have also meant additional penalties limiting ways they could sign or trade for players. 'We've known for a long time that hard decisions were coming,' Stevens said Tuesday on the decisions to trade both Holiday and Porzingis, which both became official this week. 'The second apron is why those trades happened. I think that is pretty obvious. And the basketball penalties associated with those are real. … So that was part of making the decision to push and put our chips on the table and go for the last two years.' Now under that dreaded second apron, it's also brought about a different way of looking at what's next for the Celtics. As the team's president of basketball operations, Stevens knows their approach will have to change while Tatum is out. But as a former coach, he also said he's never going to put a ceiling on any team's potential. 'My expectations are always the same — compete like hell to win the next game,' he said. Stevens said he doesn't want to hear any mention of the term 'rebuild' this upcoming season. 'That's not going to be part of the lexicon in our building, and that's the way we're going to focus moving forward,' he said. While the team could make additional moves to get completely out of the luxury tax, Stevens said it's not the mandate he's been given by incoming team owner Bill Chisholm. 'Bill has been pretty clear from the get go that he wants to make sure that we're prioritizing basketball assets and the ability to retool this thing at the highest level that we can,' Stevens said. 'The most important acquisition that we're going to be able to make in the next couple of years is getting Tatum out of a (walking) boot. We're not beating that one. So that's going to be the best thing that can happen for us.' In the meantime, Stevens said he's completely comfortable with Brown being the team's focal point on the court. He thinks it's a challenge that Brown welcomes and one that he's proven an ability to excel in during previous times Tatum has been sidelined by injury.
