BOYNEXTDOOR gives out free No Genre albums at supermarket, faces sales manipulation allegations
Is BOYNEXTDOOR giving out free No Genre albums to inflate sale numbers?
According to post in the online discussion portal Nate Pann, the HYBE LABELS -owned BOYNEXTDOOR gave out No Genre albums as freebies with the purchase of instant rice worth over 20,000 KRW (14.41 USD). This move sparked intense reactions from netizens, including allegations of sales number manipulation. Notably, No Genre sold over 1.16 million copies in its first week– between May 13 and 19.
This marked a significant achievement, showcasing the group's growing popularity. However, with the free album distribution issue coming to light, fans are doubting the authenticity of their million-seller status. Critics pointed to HYBE's alleged practices of pushing out album sales, which involves bulk sales to distributors with return clauses, potentially inflating sales numbers.
Fans weigh on other possible reasons for BOYNEXTDOOR free album distribution
The accusations of album sale number manipulation led to the undermining of hard work of Jaehyun, Sungho, Riwoo, Taesan, Leehan and Woonhak. Many accused their agency, KOZ Entertainment, for the plight of the boys. Weighing on the probable reasons for the move, they predicted them trying to get rid of unsold albums in this way. They criticized the unethical practice and even called the group "flop."
According to some, the reason might be potential promotional partnerships with the rice company. While mostly the reactions were negative, some dedicated ONEDOORs (BOYNEXTDOOR's fandom) defended their favourite artists, dismissing the allegations as unfounded. As per them, many spread hate by saying, "When it [HYBE groups] sells out it's hybe payola and when it doesn't it's nugu." The fans clapped back at such people, stating, "BOYNEXTDOOR DID A GREAT JOB AND YA IT'S TRUE OUR FANDOM IS SMALL BUT STRONG."

The Fantastic Four First Steps Day 2 India Box Office: Marvel's superhero flick grows by just 40 percent on 1st Saturday after mediocre start
The Fantastic Four: First Steps, directed by Matt Shakman and starring Vanessa Kirby, Pedro Pascal, Joseph Quinn, Julia Garner, Ebon Moss-Bachrach and others, opened to a mediocre Rs 5.25 crore net at the India box office. The pre-release expectations were for the movie to net Rs 8-9 crore on day 1, but screen sharing issues due to strong holdover competition and new releases, along with the superhero fatigue played a spoil sport. The Fantastic Four: First Steps Grows By 40 Percent On Saturday; Nets Rs 7.35 Crore On Day 2 In India On day 2, the superhero flick grew by just 40 percent to net Rs 7.35 crore, and that's not a good sign for its legs. The weekend net collections of the movie will be in the vicinity of Rs 20 crore, and Rs 40 crore lifetime is the best it can manage, given that the screen sharing issues will persist even in week 3, with big Bollywood releases like Dhadak 2 and Son Of Sardaar 2. The Day Wise India Net Collections Of The Fantastic Four: First Steps Are As Under The Fantastic Four: First Steps Heads To Be Yet Another Marvel Underwhelmer In India The Fantastic Four: First Steps will be yet another Marvel flick to not do well in Indian theatres this year, after two duds namely Captain America: Brave New World and Thunderbolts*. Marvel doesn't necessarily have to introspect as two out of their three releases have won universal acclaim. It's just that there's a sort of an inertia and it will take a standalone Spiderman film like Spiderman: Brand New Day or Avengers: Doomsday to change everything. The Fantastic Four: First Steps' global weekend will be around USD 230 million, setting it up well for a lifetime total of over USD 600 million, and perhaps even USD 700 million. The Fantastic Four: First Steps In Theatres The Fantastic Four: First Steps plays in theatres. Stay tuned to Pinkvilla for more updates.

Box Office: Saiyaara records UNBELIEVABLE collections on 2nd Saturday; Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda starrer nets Rs 27 crore on Day 9
Saiyaara, directed by Mohit Suri and starring Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda continued it's insane box office run on 2nd Saturday, with the numbers almost matching the first Saturday's numbers. With a 50 percent jump from 2nd Friday to pack Rs 26.50 - 27.50 crore on day 9, the total collections of the Mohit Suri directorial stand at Rs 207 crore net. Saiyaara Nets Rs 27 Crore On 2nd Saturday; Crosses Rs 200 Crore In India After becoming the first film led by debutants to net Rs 100 crore, Saiyaara has also become the first to net Rs 200 crore. Rs 300 crore is a lock deal and Rs 400 crore is also in sight, provided the film holds even after the release of Son Of Sardaar 2 and Dhadak 2. The Day Wise Net India Collections Of Saiyaara Are As Under Saiyaara Will Zoom Past Rs 350 Crore Worldwide By The End Of 2nd Sunday Saiyaara will be standing at around Rs 240 crore net (Rs 289 crore gross) by the end of the second weekend in India. The overseas collections will be around USD 9 million (Rs 78 crore gross), taking the film, well over Rs 350 crore worldwide. The target for Saiyaara is to atleast hit Rs 600 crore gross worldwide if not more, based on its trend. To note, the day 1 expectations for the film were in the Rs 3 - 4 crore vicinity, a week prior to its release. For the musical to open with 5 times its expected day 1 numbers, and then go on the run that it has, it's is quite an achievement. Saiyaara Is Among India's Most Profitable Films With the songs of Saiyaara blowing up, and with the non-theatrical deal likely to be revised in favour of the film's makers, it is certain that the producers will be in profit even without the global theatrical share. The global theatrical share, that's expected to be in excess of Rs 250 crore, will be the additional profits from the film. Hand's down, Saiyaara is one of India's most profitable films.
