Uttarakhand CM launches dedicated Yoga Policy on occasion of 11th International Yoga Day
Chamoli (Uttarakhand) [India], June 21 (ANI): Uttarakhand has made history by becoming the first state in India to implement a dedicated Yoga Policy, following its pioneering efforts in introducing the Uniform Civil Code.
The Pushkar Singh Dhami-led cabinet on Saturday approved this landmark initiative, aiming to establish Uttarakhand as a global hub for yoga and wellness.
The Yoga Policy has been prepared with the aim of establishing Uttarakhand as the global capital of yoga and wellness under which a subsidy of up to Rs 20 lakh is being provided for developing yoga and meditation centers in the state.
A provision of grants up to Rs 10 lakh has also been made to promote research in the field of yoga, meditation and naturopathy in the state.
With the inspiration of the Prime Minister, the state government has implemented the country's first Yoga Policy 2025 in the state.
The Chief Minister further stated that the state government is determined to establish five new yoga hubs in the state by 2030 and by March 2026, the availability of yoga services will also be ensured in all AYUSH Health and Wellness Centers in the state.
The CM also planted an apple tree in the Vidhan Sabha premises under the 'Ek Vriksha Yoga ke Naam' program.
During this, the Chief Minister announced that the state government would soon establish one Spiritual Economic Zone each in Garhwal and Kumaon divisions to promote Ayurvedic and Naturopathy, Yoga and Spiritual Tourism in the state.
He further stated that two new towns would be established in the hilly areas of the state, which would establish the special identity of the state on the global map by becoming the center of Yoga, Ayurveda and Spirituality
Extending wishes on the 11th International Yoga Day, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said that the presence of all the foreign guests will give global recognition to this event.
He further stated that Bhararisain, along with being the summer capital, was also a center of rich cultural heritage and amazing natural beauty.
He further said that the mass yoga practice done with the representatives of eight friendly nations would prove to be an important step towards making Devbhoomi Uttarakhand the global capital of yoga and spirituality.
The Chief Minister said that Uttarakhand was also the land of yoga and spirituality along with Devbhoomi.
Focusing on the importance of yoga, the Chief Minister said that the practice helped establish complete harmony between the mind, soul and body.
'Yoga keeps our body healthy and provides inner peace, mental balance and spiritual stability to human life. With various yoga asanas and pranayama, the body and mind can be freed from stress. Yoga increases concentration of mind and also transmits positive energy in life,' the CM said.
He further stated that the practice of yoga had helped connect the human society across the world by crossing caste, language, religion and geographical boundaries.
'Yoga is working to tie the whole world together by becoming a bridge of global unity, harmony and brotherhood. The visionary thinking and inspirational leadership of the Prime Minister has given Yoga a new identity on the world stage by making it a mantra of global connectivity and health of humanity,' Dhami stated.
He further state that state government was committed to solving the problem of employment generation and migration in the state under the guidance of the Prime Minister.
Several important schemes are also being worked on to promote local economy and tourism in the state. The state government has also constituted a Strategic Advisory Committee in the state with the aim of providing maximum means of self-employment at the local level.
This committee will work to promote innovation for the economic and social development of the state. We are also working towards providing employment opportunities to the youth in the hills as per their skills.
Before participating in the program organized on International Yoga Day in Bhararisain, the Chief Minister reached among the students and local people.
He interacted with the people and enquired about their well-being and also met the students. Special enthusiasm and excitement was seen among the students on finding the Chief Minister among them. (ANI)

Earlier, in a preemptive effort to ensure safety during the upcoming Amarnath Yatra 2025, a joint mock landslide drill was conducted by the Indian Army, CRPF, Jammu and Kashmir Police, and the JKSDRF (Jammu and Kashmir State Disaster Response Force) at Samroli, Toldi Nallah, on the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway on Sunday. The exercise aimed to assess emergency preparedness in case of landslides or natural disasters during the pilgrimage. The simulation involved rescuing stranded vehicles and providing immediate aid to injured pilgrims, with security and disaster response teams efficiently coordinating evacuation and medical assistance. During the drill, a mock victim was safely rescued by the joint teams, administered first aid, and transported to a nearby hospital via ambulance. The exercise demonstrated seamless coordination among agencies for rapid response in real emergencies. Deputy SP (Headquarters) Udhampur, Prehlad Kumar, emphasised that security forces are fully equipped to handle any challenges during the yatra and ensure pilgrims' safety. He stated that such drills enhance the readiness of disaster management and security personnel to address emergencies and protect devotees throughout the pilgrimage season. J&K: Offline registration for Amarnath Yatra begins today in Jammu at special centres set by Administration
Jammu (Jammu & Kashmir) [India], June 30 (ANI): The Amarnath Yatra is set to commence on July 3, and the registration is underway for devotees who have not yet registered for the Yatra through online mode. A large number of devotees have visited the special centre as registration begins today at the centres set up by the administration. The Yatra will begin on July 3 through the Baltal and Pahalgam routes. A devotee who came to the centre for registration said, 'The people are enthusiastic this time. There is no fear (due to the Pahalgam attack). Arrangements are good. The administration is with us.' Another devotee added, 'You can see the enthusiasm in the people. I have faith in Amarnath. I want to request all the people to visit J&K so that our army and government can say that we are not affected by their (terrorists) actions.' Nuuk BFF: Yes, I can do with a handheld fan in the Delhi summer
Over the past few years, I have noticed how handheld fans are becoming a thing, especially in Kerala. And during a vacation in Malaysia earlier this month, I saw that most tourists had one in their hand to take on the sultry weather. This is why I wanted to test out the Nuuk BFF which was gaining a lot of traction on social media. As expected from Nuuk, this rechargeable personal fan has a stylish and functional design. But this is not something that will stick out in a crowd and many of us prefer our designs to be subtle and not too loud. The handle houses a 3600 mAh battery. While the fan faces you, there is a small LED below to show the speed. The dial on the side can be double-pressed to switch on the fan and turned to increase the speeds. Now this is where the fan gets very interesting. I initially thought the fan would have maybe five or ten speed levels. But as you rotate the dial you realise it goes up all the way to a 100. And at that setting, whirring at 12000+ RPM, this fan is really fast and powerful. With Delhi humidity kicking in over the past few weeks, a few seconds in front of the BFF meant you were at least sweat-free. The real power of the BLDC fans is felt only after you ramp up the speed at least midway. At this point, you can feel the air hit your face even from a small distance. At 100, the fan blows your hair all over the place and has a distinct whirring sound. Since the fan head can be tilted 180 degrees, I used this on my work desk and sofa with the fans facing me. That worked well and kept me cool even when the power decided to play hide and seek when the demand peaked in UP. Then there is IceTouch. A long press on the dial switches this mode on and offers a slight nip along with the powerful wind. This was especially helpful when used outdoors under the sweltering sun. If you find some shade too, then you have a temporary summer sanctuary of your own. With IceTouch on, I noticed a bit of condensation on the front of the fan. The device is pretty compact and can easily slip into the side pocket of your office bag, or even into your denims. The design is also very safe and you can hardly even see the blades of the fan, so no chances of accidents. The 3600 mAh battery can last you an entire working day, but not if IceTouch is on all the while — so use that feature sparingly. The only issue I spotted with the BFF was that it took a few attempts to switch it off — again a double press on the dial, but there were no challenges switching it on. At Rs 2,049, the Nuuk BFF is a great accessory for those struggling with the summers and those who have to spend a lot of time outdoors.
