Seattle Mariners catcher Cal Raleigh enters the Derby as the favorite, with his MLB-leading 38 home runs at the All-Star break just one short of Barry Bonds' first-half mark from 2001 - the year he went on to set the single-season home run record.
Other participants at Truist Park are the Pirates' Oneil Cruz, Nationals' James Wood, Braves' Matt Olson, Athletics' Brent Rooker, Twins' Byron Buxton, Rays' Junior Caminero and Yankees' Jazz Chisholm Jr.
Last year's champion was Teoscar Hernandez, who became the first Dodgers player to win the contest.

Home Run Derby rules, new format
The 2025 Home Run Derby features three rounds: the first round, semifinals and finals.
In the first round, the hitters have three minutes or 40 pitches (whichever comes first) to hit as many home runs as they can. Each player gets a bonus period that lasts until they take three swings that don't result in a homer. If a home run of 425 feet or longer is hit during the bonus time, the hitter gets a fourthout
The four players with the highest totals advance to the semifinals - with first-round ties being broken by the player who hit the longest home run in their round.
The semifinals becomes a knockout format, with players seeded Nos. 1-4 based on their first-round totals. Players have two minutes or 27 pitches in the semifinals and finals. Ties in the semifinal are broken by a 60-second "swing-off."
Each batter gets one 45-second timeout - but timeouts be called during bonus periods or tiebreakers.

Wimbledon men's final between Sinner and Alcaraz on ESPN draws most viewers since 2019

Jannik Sinner 's victory over Carlos Alcaraz was the most-viewed Wimbledon men's final since Novak Djokovic edged Roger Federer in a five-set thriller in 2019. ESPN said Sunday's match averaged 2.9 million viewers, a 31% increase over last year's final and its best performance since about 3.8 million watched Djokovic win a fifth-set tiebreaker in a match between two of tennis' greatest champions. The network also said Tuesday that ratings were up for the both the men's and women's semifinals. The women's semis, which included American Amanda Anisimova upsetting No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka, averaged 897,000 viewers, the most since 2015, when Serena Williams was part of the final four. The men's average of 1.31 million was the highest since 2019. ___ AP tennis:

MLB open to letting players take part in 2028 Olympics

ATLANTA — Baseball Commissioner Rob Manfred and players' union head Tony Clark say plans are moving ahead exploring the possibility of using major leaguers in the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics, a tournament that could be played on an extended All-Star break. "I think it is a opportunity to market the game on a really global stage," Manfred told the Baseball Writers' Association of America on Tuesday. "Obviously the clubs are going to have to endorse this. I mean, this it's a big deal." MLB met with Los Angeles organizers Monday in Atlanta ahead of the All-Star Game and Manfred said the Olympic officials were meeting with the Major League Baseball Players Association. "There's a lot of work that still needs to be done," Clark told the BBWAA in a separate session. "We do know players are interested in playing, whether it's for the Team USA or any number of other teams around the world. ... There's just a lot of conversation that needs to be had sooner rather than later to see how viable this is, but we're hopeful that we can figure our way through it for the benefit of the game." The World Baseball Softball Confederation said Monday the baseball tournament will be played from July 15-20 at Dodger Stadium. MLB is considering whether it can interrupt its 2028 season to allow major leaguers to participate, which could necessitate changes to the sport's national television contracts. "They put out a schedule. They tell you it's not going to move. We'll see whether there's any movement on that," Manfred said. "It is possible to take it, to play the All-Star Game in its normal spot, have a single break that would be longer, obviously, but still play 162 games without bleeding into the middle of November. That is possible, OK? It would require significant accommodations, but it's possible." MLB did not allow players on 40-man rosters to participate in the 2021 Tokyo Olympics, when Nippon Professional Baseball interrupted its season and Japan beat the U.S. 2-0 in the gold medal game. "In the event that major league players are going to play, what does that mean and what does that look like?" Clark said. "And perhaps just as importantly, what does it mean for those players who aren't participating? What type of scheduling adjustments need to be made? What type travel considerations and support need to considered? What does that means in regards to insurance?"

Livvy Dunne wowed by baseball star's impressive performance... but it's NOT boyfriend Paul Skenes

Livvy Dunne was left gobsmacked after one of her boyfriend's baseball teammates hit some absolute bombs during the MLB Home Run Derby. The TikTok sensation and former LSU gymnast was at Truist Park in Atlanta with her Pirates-star beau Paul Skenes for the annual All-Star Game event on Monday night. And while taking in the action, Dunne could not believe her eyes when Pittsburgh outfielder Oneil Cruz let rip with one of his 21 home runs that saw him advance to the semifinals. Cruz, who crushed a 513-foot homer on the night, averaged 447 feet during the first round with a top exit velocity of 118mph. Dunne shared a video on Instagram of the Dominican star sending one flying into the stands, before spinning the camera round to show her stunned reaction. She also included the caption 'holy cr@p' while saying in the background 'oh my god'. Dunne and Skenes, who is set to make his second consecutive All-Star game start on Tuesday after being drafted by the Pirates last year, were captured on ESPN's broadcast cheering on Cruz from the sidelines. The social-media beauty also shared a pic of her and Paul taking in the festitivies while sat side by side. Earlier on Monday, Dunne had shared a pair of snaps to her Instagram Story of herself and her man on a private jet bound for the ATL. The couple rode in style and in comfort - with the cabin of the aircraft adorned with slick wood accents and cushioned leather chairs. The couple are both in Georgia this week after Skenes was named one of the best baseball players at this point in the season.
