Coldplay's Career-Making Singles Become Hits Again
After taking a few weeks off in mid-to-late June, Coldplay is back on the road as its years-long Music of the Spheres World Tour continues. The trek began in 2022 and isn't set to end until September of this year. The group will return to London for 10 dates at Wembley Stadium, which will serve as a fitting end to one of the highest-grossing concert treks of all time.
The pop-rock band recently picked things back up in Toronto and is set to continue throughout the United States in July. Several of Coldplay's beloved tracks make their way back onto the Official Singles chart in the U.K. as fans revisit the classics and continue to fall in love with a newly-viral cut.
"Viva La Vida" and "Yellow" Return
Both "Viva La Vida" and "Yellow" reenter the Official Singles chart this week. That tally ranks the most-consumed tunes throughout the U.K., blending both sales and streaming activity to reflect what people in the country are actually listening to. "Viva La Vida" returns at No. 95, while "Yellow" comes in at No. 99.
Three Hits for Coldplay
Coldplay currently fills three spaces on the Official Singles chart, the most allowed for any musical act in a lead role at one time. "Sparks" jumps from No. 48 to No. 44, nearing its all-time peak position of No. 40. Interestingly, all three of Coldplay's tracks that land on the most competitive songs ranking in the group's home country are years old, as none come from any of the outfit's more recent projects.
It seems that fans of the Grammy winners in the U.K. are comfortable revisiting the albums that made the group so famous in the first place, and focusing their buying and streaming on some of the biggest wins.
'The Scientist' Is Also A Top Streamer
"Viva La Vida" and "Yellow" also find space on the Official Streaming chart, where they are joined by "The Scientist." Those three tracks settle at Nos. 75, 77, and 95, respectively, with only "Yellow" managing to hold steady while the other two drop from where they sat last frame.

A cast member at the Royal Opera House has unfurled a Palestinian flag on stage during the curtain call of Saturday's performance. Video shows a brief scuffle as an official at the London venue tries unsuccessfully to stop the protest, with the performer refusing to let go of the large flag. It came on the closing night of Il trovatore, a four-act opera by Giuseppe Verdi. The Royal Opera House said the protest was "completely inappropriate for a curtain call". One cast member standing at the top of the stage is seen in videos of the incident silently displaying a large Palestinian flag, at one point shaking it gently. While the audience continues to applaud the performance, a man from the stage wings is seen attempting to wrestle the flag away from the cast member but they resist and hold on to it for the remainder of the curtain call. Other officials stood in the wings can then be seen shouting messages to the cast member. One member of the audience posted on X: "Extraordinary scenes at the Royal Opera House tonight. "During the curtain call for Il trovatore one of the background artists came on stage waving a Palestine flag. "Just stood there, no bowing or shouting. Someone off stage kept trying to take it off him. Incredible." The identity of the cast member is unclear, but Il trovatore has now finished its 11-night run at the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden. The protest comes as the war between Israel and Gaza continues, with a ceasefire yet to be struck.

Brat star Charli XCX has confirmed her marriage to fiance and The 1975 drummer George Daniel. The 32-year-old, whose real name is Charlotte Aitchison, could be seen wearing her wedding dress, and the dark sunglasses she has become known for following the release of her latest album, in a post on TikTok. The TikTok read: 'When George isn't crying when he sees me walking down the aisle.' Charli confirmed in the caption that 'luckily' the 35-year-old drummer did cry. In a separate post captioned 'bridal party energy' Daniel could be seen wearing his wife's veil, while The Dare, who produced Charli's track Guess and whose real name is Harrison Smith, could also be seen at the party. The wedding reportedly took place at Hackney Town Hall in London on Saturday, with the pair being spotted taking pictures with friends and family outside the venue, on social media. The pair first shared photos of their engagement in 2023, and have worked together on a number of occasions collaborating on Charli track Spinning, before Daniel was credited as a co-producer and co-writer on two songs on Brat. Daniel has also performed the viral 'Apple dance' at one of his wife's London shows. Following the release of the Brat album, Charli's infectious electronic-pop tracks soared up the charts and inspired a trend, with fans embracing the 'Brat summer' cultural movement. The accolades followed, and in March she dominated the Brit Awards, winning five categories including songwriter of the year. She also secured album of the year, artist of the year, dance act, and song of the year for a version of her track Guess featuring Billie Eilish. In February she picked up three awards at the Grammys and she was named songwriter of the year at The Ivors in May. She recently performed at this year's Glastonbury Festival and at her own day festival in London's Victoria Park. Daniel's band The 1975 are completed by singer Matty Healy, guitarist Adam Hann, and bass player Ross MacDonald, they are best known for tracks such as Chocolate, Love Me and The Sound. The drummer has also launched an electronic solo career, releasing his first solo song Screen Cleaner in 2024.
