What irks Boston Celtics fans more, Marcus Smart to the Lakers, or Ben Simmons rumors?

What are Boston Celtics fans more irked by, Marcus Smart to the Los Angeles Lakers, or Ben Simmons rumors? The Celtics have been linked to the former Los Angeles Clippers big man despite his well-publicized travails during his stints with the Brooklyn Nets and Philadelphia 76ers before joining the Clippers in the same week that Smart, former Boston floor general, signed a deal with the Lakers after being bought out by the Washington Wizards.
Needless to say, neither of these offseason news items went over well with a large portion of the Boston faithful, with some riled up by the possibility of seeing a beloved former player suiting up in gold and purple, and others cringing at the notion of Simmons playing for the Celtics.
The folks behind the "NBC Sports Boston" YouTube channel put together a clip taking a closer look at what is behind the visceral responses to both. Check it out below!

Which players hurt or helped their stock with the Celtics in Las Vegas Summer League?

Which players hurt or helped their stock playing for the Boston Celtics in the NBA's 2025 Las Vegas Summer League? The Sin City Celtics were an interesting mix of players already on Boston's regular roster (Baylor Scheierman and Jordan Walsh), the three incoming rookies that the Celtics took in the 2025 NBA draft (Amari Williams, Max Shulga, and of course Hugo Gonzalez), a player fighting for his spot from last season as a Boston two way player (Miles Norris), and a number of prospects looking to latch on with the Maine Celtics or to use the exposure to land a gig elsewhere. Which of them played their way into the role they were seeking, or further confirmed that they belong where they already are? Which of them hurt their chances of securing the basketball future they were aiming for, with the Celtics or otherwise? The hosts of the CLNS Media "How Bout Them Celtics!" podcast, Jack Simone and Sam LaFrance, took some time on a recent episode of their show to talk it over. Check it out below! Former Alabama basketball guard reportedly waived by NBA team

According to an announcement by the organization Thursday afternoon, the Boston Celtics have reportedly waived former Alabama Crimson Tide guard JD Davison. Davison recently concluded his third season with Boston, the same organization which drafted him with the No. 53 overall pick in the second round of the 2022 NBA draft. Over those three seasons, Davison appeared in a combined 36 games with the Celtics, averaging only 5.5 minutes per contest. Davison also averaged a combined 1.9 points per game on 38.5% shooting from the field, as well as 28.1% from three and 69.2% at the free throw line. The former Alabama guard is also coming off a career-year where he was named the 2024-25 NBA G League MVP. Playing with the Maine Celtics, Davison averaged 25.6 points, 5.1 rebounds, 7.7 assists, and 1.4 steals per game on 48.2% shooting from the field. Will fans of the Boston Celtics boo Marcus Smart when he returns to play with the Lakers?

Will fans of the Boston Celtics boo Marcus Smart when he returns to Boston to play with the Los Angeles Lakers? The Flower Mound native seems to think that he will in a recent interview introducing him to the local Los Angeles media as a new member of next season's Lakers roster. But what Smart may not be counting on is the fact that fans of the Celtics are a wise bunch aware of the fact that it was never the Oklahoma State alum's choice to leave Boston in a trade chosen by the team's front office in order to bring big man Kristaps Porzingis to the team from the Washington Wizards back in the 2023 NBA offseason. There may very well be some boo birds in the house, but they could easily be from the stalwarts booing the Lakers as a team or the vocal minority that did not like Smart even when he was suiting up for the Celtics.
