Hometown Developments signs agreement with Savills Egypt to manage 4 projects in New Capital

Hometown Developments has entered into a strategic partnership with Savills Egypt to provide comprehensive management and operational consultancy for four of its flagship commercial projects in the New Administrative Capital.
The agreement was officially signed by Diaa El-Din Farag, Chairperson of Hometown for Real Estate Development, and Catesby Langer-Paget, Head of Savills Egypt, during a press conference held at one of Hometown's developments in the New Capital.
According to Farag, the agreement covers the Zaha Park, La Fayette, La Fayette Village, and Udora projects — developments he described as among the most prominent commercial brands in the New Administrative Capital. He emphasized that the collaboration reflects Hometown's commitment to preserving clients' investments and trust by ensuring a high return through professional and sustainable operations.
'This partnership reflects our dedication to protecting the long-term value of our clients' real estate assets,' Farag said. 'It supports our vision of delivering projects that not only meet market expectations but also enhance the overall investment landscape of the New Capital.'
Farag elaborated on the significance of each project. The La Fayette development, for instance, is a large-scale commercial and entertainment complex covering 43,000 square meters. It is located in a prime downtown position opposite Al Masa Hotel, at Plot No. 1, near the central monorail station. The building consists of a ground floor, five upper floors, and two basement levels.
Udora, another key project included in the agreement, is also located near Al Masa Hotel and just minutes from the central station and the financial and governmental district. Designed as a shopping and entertainment destination, the project has achieved significant construction progress, with completion rates reaching up to 95 percent.
The Zaha Park project is situated in the MU23 district of the New Capital, directly along Al Amal Axis between residential neighborhoods R2 and R3. It is expected to be the first commercial development delivered in the area. The ten-story structure is designed to serve approximately 25,000 residential units. Infrastructure work, including electromechanical systems, has already been completed.
Meanwhile, La Fayette Village is being positioned as a downtown entertainment destination. Construction on this project is also advancing rapidly, reflecting Hometown's commitment to timely delivery and high-quality execution.
Farag noted that the collaboration with Savills represents a broader shift in the Egyptian real estate sector toward adopting modern, professional operational frameworks that support project sustainability and long-term investment performance. He added that such strategic partnerships contribute to enhancing the New Capital's standing as a premier regional destination for commercial and investment activity.
Catesby Langer-Paget echoed this sentiment, highlighting that Savills Egypt will implement a comprehensive operational strategy tailored to each development. 'Through this agreement, we aim to strengthen the performance and customer experience of all four projects by incorporating international best practices and aligning with Hometown's vision for sustainable operations,' he said.
Under the terms of the agreement, Savills Egypt will provide end-to-end consulting services. These will include operational planning, asset readiness assessments, and the development of leasing strategies. The scope will also cover recommendations on tenant mix, occupancy targets, tenant incentives, and detailed financial modeling that outlines projected revenues, operational costs, and long-term expense plans.
This partnership marks a significant milestone for both companies and sets a precedent for how large-scale developments in Egypt can be managed for optimal long-term success.

Egypt inaugurates first Bosch home appliance factory in Africa with €55m investment

Egypt's Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly inaugurated the first African factory of BSH, the German-owned home appliance giant behind the Bosch brand, marking a milestone in Egypt's industrial development and regional positioning. Located in 10th of Ramadan City, the factory represents the company's first manufacturing base on the continent, with a total investment exceeding €55m. The facility is expected to generate around 1,000 direct and indirect job opportunities, with 50% of its production designated for export to markets across Africa and the Middle East. Accompanied by key ministers and senior officials, Madbouly affirmed that Egypt's economic reforms and investor-friendly incentives have successfully attracted major global industrial players. The Bosch plant, he said, will serve as a strategic launchpad for regional expansion, leveraging Egypt's geographic advantage, skilled labour, and growing domestic market. Top executives from BSH Global attended the inauguration and praised Egypt's strategic positioning and the strong support extended by local authorities. Built over an 80,000-square-metre plot, the factory will manufacture more than 350,000 gas ovens annually using 100% Egyptian labour and German engineering expertise. The facility adopts a new BSH production model focused on integrating the local workforce rather than relying heavily on automation—an approach designed to capitalise on Egypt's labour cost advantage while upholding Bosch's global quality standards. This project aligns with Egypt's broader industrial strategy and vision to become a regional hub for manufacturing and export. BSH also confirmed its intention to expand the facility in future phases, further increasing production capacity and employment opportunities. Prime Minister Madbouly toured the production lines and met with workers, reiterating the government's commitment to supporting industrial investment, strengthening local supply chains, increasing exports, and facilitating technology transfer. In his remarks, Luis Alvarez, Chairperson of BSH Egypt and Morocco, explained that the decision to establish BSH's first African factory in Egypt reflects a long-term strategic vision. He highlighted Egypt's potential as a gateway to continental and regional markets and noted that the country is now home to BSH's 40th production facility worldwide. BSH operates 39 factories across Europe, North America, and Asia and maintains a presence in more than 60 countries. The new Egyptian plant is now a critical link in this global network and will serve as a springboard into emerging markets across the Global South. Designed with strict sustainability standards, the factory combines advanced infrastructure with local talent. BSH plans to export 50% of its output to the Middle East, Africa, Australia, Canada, and Latin America. Ahmed Riad, Executive Board Member and CFO of BSH Home Appliances Egypt, noted that the factory's 90 cm cookers were developed specifically to match Egyptian consumer preferences. The current local component ratio stands at 50%, with plans to exceed 70% within two years. He also revealed that BSH is exploring the possibility of expanding its product line beyond ovens and cookers, further strengthening Egypt's position as a regional manufacturing hub. Following the Bosch factory inauguration, Prime Minister Madbouly also opened Jumia's largest logistics warehouse in Egypt—a major development for the country's e-commerce and digital logistics infrastructure. Spanning over 27,000 square metres and equipped with state-of-the-art technologies, the new facility is designed to accelerate delivery times, enhance storage efficiency, and support Jumia's growing operations, particularly in Upper Egypt. It is expected to create approximately 10,000 direct and indirect jobs. The warehouse supports Egypt's goal to become a regional digital hub, aligning with Vision 2030 and national efforts to expand digital services, boost youth employment, and support tech-driven development. Minister of Communications and Information Technology Amr Talaat highlighted that the software powering Jumia's platform was developed locally by Egyptian engineers. Jumia Egypt CEO Abdellatif Olama emphasised the strategic importance of Egypt within Jumia's regional operations. The country hosts one of the company's largest tech hubs in Africa and plays a pivotal role in exporting digital solutions across the continent. He reiterated Jumia's commitment to enhancing Egypt's role in Africa's digital transformation and to supporting local manufacturing and logistics ecosystems.

Egypt's Al-Sisi reviews plan to engage private sector in airport development

Egyptian President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi on Saturday reviewed a comprehensive strategy to develop the country's civil aviation sector, including plans to involve the private sector in operating airports to help achieve a national target of 30 million tourists annually, the presidency said. The president met in New Alamein with Civil Aviation Minister Sameh El-Hefny and the chairperson of EgyptAir Air Services, Soheir Abdallah, to discuss the plan, which covers air navigation, the aircraft fleet, and airport development. Al-Sisi directed officials to proceed with offering Hurghada airport for partnership with the private sector by the end of 2025, according to a presidential statement. This move is part of a national strategy, prepared in cooperation with the International Finance Corporation (IFC) as a strategic advisor, to engage private companies in the operation and development of 11 key airports. The strategy, which aims to enhance operational efficiency and improve services, is expected to be finalised before the end of summer 2025. The state will retain ownership of these assets. The statement quoted Al-Sisi as emphasising the need for international partnerships based on efficiency and sustainability, alongside incentives for the private sector, to transform Egypt's airports into advanced regional hubs. During the meeting, Al-Sisi was updated on the 'New Republic's Air Gateway' project at Terminal 4 of Cairo International Airport. The project aims to build a new passenger terminal with a capacity of at least 30 million passengers, which would raise the airport's total capacity to over 60 million passengers per year. The discussion also covered Egypt's air navigation system, which has received international praise for its performance, particularly amid recent regional crises that led to the closure of airspace in neighbouring countries. The increased traffic, reaching over 1,600 flights per day, was managed efficiently by Egyptian air traffic controllers, earning commendations from organisations such as Eurocontrol, the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO), and the International Air Transport Association (IATA). A plan to restructure and modernise Egypt's airspace and its radar and communication systems was also reviewed. The meeting also addressed the progress made by the national carrier, EgyptAir. The airline was recently named 'Best Airline Staff in Africa' for 2025 by the global rating organisation Skytrax. It also won awards for the best economy class meals, the most improved airline in Africa for the second consecutive year, and the best cabin crew on the continent. EgyptAir has climbed 20 places to rank 68th among the world's top 100 airlines. The statement also referenced the company's plan to modernise its fleet to 97 aircraft by the 2028/2029 fiscal year to enhance its competitiveness. Efforts to develop EgyptAir Air Services were also discussed, focusing on improving infrastructure, equipment, and staff training, as well as upgrading business lounges and improving the company's flight regularity rates.
