Frequent power disruptions hit industries, people in Pirangut
They face frequent disruptions, often stretching three to four hours every day. At present, the 22KV feeder line bears the load for all consumers, though there has been a demand for separate lines for quite some time.
"The problem has aggravated in the last four to five years. Some of the smaller industrial units are now considering relocating their factories elsewhere, even outside Maharashtra," said Satish Karanjkar, president of Mulshi Industries Association.

Large units can afford to run on diesel gensets, he said. "However, small units, especially those near Lavale Phata, are grappling with production issues. These factories deal in auto spare parts, chemicals and textile, and employ 50-100 people each," Karanjkar added.
Raman Govitrikar, another association member, said that a proposal to add more infrastructure has been pending for several months.
Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited has planned to bifurcate the feeder line, but is facing difficulties in obtaining the land required to install necessary infrastructure, said deputy executive engineer Anand Ghule.

"We are discussing with the industries and residents and hopeful that we will reach a consensus on land availability. A final decision has yet to be made," he said.
Ghule further said since the industrial area is not developed by Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC), there is no single planning authority for roads and electricity, which is critical for industries. "It will help fasten the process if the area is brought under MIDC," he added.
"Regular power cuts for three to four hours have impacted our daily routine, making us dependent on inverters. The hope is that the infrastructure-related issues will be resolved quickly," said Pirangut resident Ramesh Patil.

P B Balaji to be 1st Indian CEO of JLR
PB Balaji New Delhi: PB Balaji, the group CFO of Tata Motors , will take charge as the CEO of British marquee Jaguar Land Rover from Nov this year, becoming the first Indian to lead the luxury car ompany in an executive role. Balaji will succeed Adrian Mardell, who expressed his desire to retire from JLR after three years as CEO and 35 years with the company. After acquisition of the brands in 2008, there have been four CEOs, but none of them were Indian. David Smith served as the CEO between 2008 and 2010, followed by Ralf Speth who worked between 2010 and 2020.
