Forest Green did not comment when approached by the BBC.
Former Birmingham and Nottingham Forest manager Cotterill was appointed in January 2024, replacing Troy Deeney with the club rooted to the bottom of League Two.
He was unable to keep them in the football league and is due to depart having won 31 of his 71 games in charge, a 44% win rate.

Dodgers pursue record for most MLB All-Star starters as voting resumes for 48 hours
All-Star voting resumes Monday at 9 a.m. PDT for 48 hours with the Dodgers entertaining the possibility of fielding an unprecedented eight position players. The top two vote-getters at each position through Phase 1 of voting are finalists and moved on to Phase 2, which ends Wednesday at 9 a.m. PDT. The defending World Series champion Dodgers boast a finalist at each infield position and two among six outfielders. Even though only three Dodgers led National League Phase 1 voting at their position, all eight have an equal chance of starting because votes don't carry over to Phase 2. The player at each position to accumulate the most votes in the two-day window will start the July 15 game at Truist Park in Atlanta. 'Very proud. It's great,' Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said. 'Obviously we're playing well. As it stands now, we're the best team in the National League, so we should have the most All-Star voting for the team.' Shohei Ohtani locked in an automatic spot as starting designated hitter because he led all National League players with 3,967,668 votes in Phase 1. Catcher Will Smith and first baseman Freddie Freeman are the other Dodgers to lead voting, while second baseman Tommy Edman, shortstop Mookie Betts and third baseman Max Muncy finished second. Among outfielders, Teoscar Hernández and Andy Pages finished second and fifth, respectively. In American League voting, the Angels' Mike Trout is one of four finalists to secure one of two openings in the outfield. Aaron Judge of the New York Yankees already earned a starting spot by leading all players with 4,012,983 votes in Phase 1. Trout, who has 13 home runs in 56 games, is competing against Riley Green and Javier Báez of the Detroit Tigers and Steven Kwan of the Cleveland Guardians. Voting can be done online at all 30 team websites, the MLB app and the MLB ballpark app. The winners will be announced on ESPN at 1 p.m. The most position players voted to start an All-Star Game from a single team is five — accomplished by the 1976 Cincinnati Reds ,the 1956 and 1957 Cincinnati Redlegs and the 1939 New York Yankees. 'I hope we get five, six, seven Dodgers,' Roberts said. 'That'd be great.' Retiring Whit Merrifield drops hilarious take on Phillies tenure
The post Retiring Whit Merrifield drops hilarious take on Phillies tenure appeared first on ClutchPoints. Three-time All-Star Whit Merrifield announced his retirement on Tuesday, and on his way out the door, he took time to thank Philadelphia Phillies fans in the most hilarious way possible. Advertisement Merrifield played for the Phillies in 2024, hitting just .199 with a .572 OPS before the team released him and he caught on with the Atlanta Braves. 'Philly, I liked you way more than you liked me,' he wrote in his goodbye post on Instagram. 'Sorry I stunk for you.' Merrifield was slightly better for Atlanta, where he hit .248 with a pedestrian .648 OPS. He became a free agent at the end of last season and did not sign with a team over the winter. 'Since I've not had some time away from the game, I've had a chance to reflect on my individual career for the first time in my life,' Merrifield wrote. 'I'm proud of myself. The toughness I developed and the things I was able to accomplish, nobody outside of my camp thought possible. I spent a lot of energy proving people wrong but my real joy came from proving my small circle of believers right.' Ex Phillies OF Whit Merrifield made his name with the Royals Jay Biggerstaff-Imagn Images While Merrifield's time in the National League East didn't go so well, he was one of the best hitters in the American League from 2017 to 2021. He came up with the Kansas City Royals and led the AL in hits in 2018 and 2019. He also led the league in stolen bases in 2017, 2018 and 2021. Advertisement Two of Merrifield's three All-Star nods came as a member of the Royals and he finished his time in the City of Fountains seventh in franchise history in steals (174) with a .286 average in that time. The Royals then traded Merrifield to the Toronto Blue Jays midway through the 2022 season where he was a member of two Blue Jays playoff teams. 'I was so privileged and blessed to have played in the cities I played in,' Merrifield wrote. 'KC, you became a second home to my family and I. Toronto, playing for an entire country was an honour I'll never forget.'
