Jane Street India Ban Threatens 900% Rally for Asia's Oldest Stock Exchange
Asia's oldest stock exchange was preparing to celebrate its 150th anniversary when a storm of bad news upended the festivities.
On Monday, a report revealed deepening losses in equity derivatives among India's retail traders, fueling concerns that the Securities and Exchange Board of India may impose tighter curbs. Just days earlier, the regulator barred Jane Street Group from dealing in local markets, alleging the trading giant manipulated prices to make billions of dollars at the expense of small investors — charges the US firm has denied.

JPMorgan Says Korean Stock Gauge May Near 5,000 Over Two Years
South Korea's equity benchmark may rise more than 50% from its current level over a two-year period should corporate governance reforms gain momentum, according to JPMorgan Chase & Co. Korea remains a key overweight market in Asia and among emerging markets, strategists led by Mixo Das wrote in a note on Friday. The Kospi Index, which has gained 32% so far this year to near a record high, could reach around 5,000, they said. That compares with Friday's close of around 3,176.

MeitY and BITS Pilani Launch Cybersecurity Training Programme for Professionals
The training is designed to address the increasing need for cybersecurity capabilities in the face of rising digital threats You're reading Entrepreneur India, an international franchise of Entrepreneur Media. The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), through its cyber response arm CERT-In, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with BITS Pilani to roll out a professional development programme in cybersecurity. The initiative is aimed at upskilling professionals across government departments, public sector undertakings (PSUs), and the private sector. The eight-week programme is scheduled to begin on July 19, 2025, and will be conducted by BITS Pilani through its Centre for Research Excellence in National Security (CRENS) at the Hyderabad campus. Rapifuzz, a technology partner, will assist in delivering the course, while CERT-In will provide oversight and subject-matter guidance. The training is designed to address the increasing need for cybersecurity capabilities in the face of rising digital threats. It is open to professionals from diverse backgrounds, including those without prior technical or coding experience. According to CERT-In, the course content has been structured to reflect current and emerging cybersecurity challenges. The curriculum will cover areas such as cyber threats and vulnerabilities, network security, cryptography, incident management, and security practices in cloud and mobile environments. Participants who complete the programme will receive a joint certification from CERT-In and BITS Pilani. CERT-In Director General Sanjay Bahl noted that strengthening human resource capabilities is a critical component of India's broader digital security strategy. V. Ramgopal Rao, Group Vice-Chancellor of BITS Pilani, highlighted the relevance of academic and industry collaboration in addressing national cybersecurity needs. This marks one of the first formalised efforts by CERT-In to partner with an academic institution to provide structured cybersecurity education on a large scale.

Microsoft Unveils BioEmu AI to Revolutionise Drug Discovery
The model is trained on a massive dataset over 200 milliseconds of molecular dynamics simulations and half a million protein stability experiments You're reading Entrepreneur India, an international franchise of Entrepreneur Media. Microsoft has introduced BioEmu, a breakthrough artificial intelligence system designed to fast-track the understanding of protein behaviour, a crucial factor in drug development and disease research. Announced by Chairman and CEO Satya Nadella on X, BioEmu promises to cut down years of complex simulations to just hours. "Understanding protein motion is essential to biology and drug discovery," Nadella noted. "With BioEmu, we're delivering insights in hours that used to take years." Developed by the AI for Science team at Microsoft Research, BioEmu predicts the dynamic shapes and movements of proteins, offering a much-needed leap in understanding how proteins function in the human body. These structural shifts, especially hard-to-detect ones like cryptic binding pockets, are often central to disease mechanisms and drug targeting. Trained on a massive dataset over 200 milliseconds of molecular dynamics simulations and half a million protein stability experiments—BioEmu matches real-world experimental stability data with prediction errors under 1 kcal/mol and high correlation scores. It also drastically reduces the computational cost compared to traditional GPU-heavy simulations. The system stands out for its ability to simulate protein "ensembles"—the various shapes proteins adopt—which are vital to grasping how they operate in biological environments. Published in Science, BioEmu is positioned as a generative AI model that could significantly accelerate drug development, synthetic biology, and biomedical research.
