I NEVER really paid much attention to my pout - in fact I'd always thought it was quite nice.
That is, until lip fillers became a thing and a juicy pout was catapulted into trend fame thanks to the likes of the Kardashian-Jenner clan circa 2014.

Ever since the Kardashian-Jenner brood appeared on the scene, I've felt pressured to get lip filler

Like millions across the world, I've considered getting my lips bigger with filler - but there are affordable, needle-free alternatives on the high street
Credit: supplied/kate kulniece
Suddenly, as an impressionable teenager, I started closely analysing my lips - which compared to everything I was seeing on Instagram appeared flat and teeny.
Years have gone by - and while I'm all for embracing and rocking your natural self, I still occasionally catch myself longing for slightly more volume; especially as quite a few people of my friends have had lip fillers.
And it seems that I'm not the only one - as a whopping 24% of people want to alter their lips via fillers, a recent poll revealed.
Lip fillers - commonly made of hyaluronic acid - may appear like a relatively quick and easy solution. But in reality, they can also go horribly wrong.
Lip plumping glosses, on the other hand, are typically pain-free, much less expensive, and can create that little extra oomph you're after, working almost instantly.
But can any actually match up to the plumping powers of lip filler?
On the quest to achieve a juicier pout without needles and forking out a fortune, I tested out five high-street plumping lip glosses - one of which cost just £4.99.
Barry M That's Swell XXL Lip Gloss

The formula boasts Sichuan Pepper and Ginger that help achieve that temporary plump look
Credit: supplied/kate kulniece
At a mere £6.99, Barry M That's Swell XXL Lip Gloss is certainly a significantly cheaper alternative to lip filler - which will set you back around £200 per session.
The 100% vegan and cruelty-free formula - a mega win for me - is formulated with Sichuan Pepper and Ginger that help achieve that temporary plump look.
Out of all the six shades available at my local Superdrug, I chose Honeyed Hue, which is perfect for a soft glam day-to-day look.
I'm so obsessed with filler that my huge lips touch my nose - trolls can't understand what I'm saying, but I don't care
While there was slight burning sensation - as expected with all lip plumping glosses - it wasn't unbearable and the tingling stopped in less than five minutes.
Although I certainly did not end up looking like Kylie Jenner with her mega defined pout, I quite liked the subtle results.
However, while my lips felt moisturised and not sticky the effect didn't last too long - but for the wallet-friendly price, you really can't complain.

L'Oréal Paris Plump Ambition Lip Oil

The skin-like colour is excellent, the product doesn't dry out and the gloss is stunning - but isn't sticky or tacky
Credit: supplied/kate kulniece
Enriched with hyaluronic acid and available in nine gorgeous shades with a glass like shine finish, it's easy to see why this L'Oréal Paris Plump Ambition Lip Oil has won close to five stars online.
Priced at £11.99, the pout must-have is essentially a 3-in-1 - it has colour, helps with hydration and plumps your lips, albeit subtly.
As expected, my pout tingled but it didn't have that nasty burning feel which makes you desperate to rub it off instantly.
The skin-like colour is excellent, the product doesn't dry out and the gloss is stunning - but isn't sticky or tacky.
As if that wasn't convincing enough, beauty buffs have also dubbed it a dupe for the viral Dior Lip Glow Oil - which sells for an eye-watering £33.

Revolution Shimmer Bomb Glimmer Nude

I felt like the silver and light purple shimmer made my lips look almost dead
Credit: supplied/kate kulniece
At just £5.99 - which is pretty much the same price as your favourite iced matcha this summer - the Revolution Shimmer Bomb Glimmer Nude is one of the cheapest options I stumbled across.
But while dozens of people online have been loving this lippy, I simply couldn't see the hype.
Yes, my lips did have the illusion of bigger slightly more plump - but the effect lasted less than ten minutes. So unless you're willing to reapply it several times throughout the day, I'd probably give this one a miss.
Perhaps this was my fault for picking the wrong shade - but I also felt like the silver and light purple shimmer made my lips look almost dead or frozen.

Max Factor 2000 Calorie Lip Glaze
7
Not only was the tingling sensation barely noticeable but the gloss also has a gorgeous vanilla scent - but nothing too sickly
Credit: supplied/kate kulniece
Currently slashed from £9.99 to a more affordable £7.49, this Max Factor 2000 Calorie Lip Glaze seems to have become a massive hit amongst hundreds of beauty buffs online.
With more than a dozen different shades, from more neutral colours to vibrant picks, there's something for everyone.
As someone who doesn't like bright lippies on my face, I opted for Pink Fizz which has a lovely subtle shine to it, without excessive glitter.
With just one swipe of moisturising gloss, my pout was instantly transformed with a full shine, plump effect and maximum comfort without the dreaded stickiness.
Not only was the tingling sensation barely noticeable but the gloss also has a gorgeous vanilla scent - but nothing too sickly.
Out of all the picks, this lippy also delivered results that lasted the longest and I didn't have to rummage through my purse to reapply it every ten minutes.

Collection Gloss Me Up Juicy Infusion Lip Gloss
7
This product gave me a lovely shine and extra volume without the painful tingling sensation
Credit: supplied/kate kulniece
A juicy and hydrated pout with no painful injections and for just £4.99? Yes, please.
This is exactly what Collection Gloss Me Up Juicy Infusion Lip Gloss is all about - and if you love packaging that takes you right back to Y2K, then this is definitely the one for you.
The lip gloss - which makes you feel like you're munching on juicy strawberries - has a small applicator that makes it easier to apply the product without making a huge mess.
The best part? There was no tingling sensation - it felt like a basic lip gloss to give your pout some extra shine.
The only downside is the lack of colour options - online, shoppers can find a mere three picks: clear, a slightly pink and red.

I tried all the supermarket cloudy lemonades – refreshing 90p winner is perfect drink for a summery day

Read on to find out which ones are best to use as mixers at your next barbecue? PITCHER PERFECT I tried all the supermarket cloudy lemonades – refreshing 90p winner is perfect drink for a summery day Click to share on X/Twitter (Opens in new window) Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window) WHEN it comes to refreshing summer sips, nothing quite hits the spot like traditional cloudy lemonade. But shoppers at Tesco have had to find a substitute after the store removed it from its soft drinks range. Sign up for Scottish Sun newsletter Sign up 8 Laura Stott has tested all the supermarket cloudy lemonades and rated them out of five Credit: Damien McFadden Lovers of the fizz have been pleading online for it to be reinstated. Meanwhile, which other own-brand bottles of pop can they turn to? Laura Stott samples a selection and gives her verdict. Diet Lemonade with Lemon Juice, 330ml, 55p, Tesco 8 Tesco's Diet Lemonade with Lemon Juice is an unsatisfying substitute Credit: Damien McFadden WITH Tesco's traditional-style cloudy lemonade being withdrawn, what I found left on the shelves instead was this lemonade made with 2 per cent lemon juice. So it's easy to see why shoppers who usually buy the 'old-fashioned' style drink are not happy. While there is nothing wrong with this version, the flavour is just not the same. It is described as sherbet- tasting, but it's more like a plain lemonade and the disappointing fruit flavour is very wishy-washy. How to make the perfect alcoholic pink lemonade with just TWO ingredients - and it's ideal to cool you down There also is no yellowy colour, which that is part of the enjoyment of the traditional drink. It's artificial tasting and lacking in zing. Hardly comparable to a delicious chilled glass of the original cloudy fizz. An unsatisfying substitute. Rating: 2/5 Cloudy Lemonade, 750ml £3.50, M&S THIS yummy real lemonade in its fancy glass bottle is rammed with the taste of juicy Italian fruits – and is the posh bottle to buy if you want to treat yourself or you are having people over. Made with 4 per cent Sicilian lemon juice and an additional 4 per cent puree on top, this double whammy really elevates the juiciness. 8 The M&S version would be a good mixer for summer cocktails Credit: Damien McFadden Combined with carbonated water, it's incredibly moreish and hits the perfect spot between sweet and sharp. There is no escaping the fact this is a costlier option, and 750ml won't go that far. I'd suggest this is one best kept for the grown-ups to enjoy as a nice alcohol-free offering, or to have at a summer barbecue or garden party. It is expensive but if you are buying as a booze-free alternative, it isn't bad value. Would be a good mixer for summer cocktails. Rating: 3/5 Vive Lemon Zero Sugar, 85p, 2 litres, Aldi ALDI'S lemon sparkling drink is a good price, but the two-litre bottle was no better value than most of the other own-brand options. It also contains a slightly lower amount of lemon juice from concentrate than many of the other supermarket offerings. 8 Aldi's version is closer to one of the big-brand fizzy lemon drinks, rather than a 'cloudy' lemonade Credit: Damien McFadden They predominantly contain 4 per cent fruit juice, whereas this one is lower at just 3 per cent . That said, the flavour is a little different, perhaps closer to one of the big-brand fizzy lemon drinks, rather than a traditional summertime 'cloudy' lemonade recipe. I found it sweeter, too, which was not to my taste. But that can be a matter of personal preference. It reminded me of a lemon drink you might buy on holiday to slurp as a change from a cola by the swimming pool. Rating: 2/5 Cloudy Lemonade, 6 x 330ml cans, Sainsbury's, £2.05 BUYING fizzy drinks as individual cans is a great way to make sure pop does not end up being wasted and poured down the sink when it goes flat. And while this multi-pack is a little pricier at the till, the price per can is not too painful. 8 The bright and bold citrus flavour certainly refreshes your palate and perks you up Credit: Damien McFadden A super way to quench your thirst on a hot day. There's plenty of the lemon flavour that you want in these sunny sippers, which can be enjoyed nice and chilled. The bright and bold citrus flavour certainly refreshes your palate and perks you up. The downside of drinking it this way is you don't get to enjoy the 'cloudy' colour, unless you pour it into a glass. On the plus side, it's perfect for picnics or for drinking on the go. A very good glug. 4/5 Diet Cloudy Lemonade, 2 litres, 90p, Co-op A VERY stylish big bottle of pop from the Co-op, with a fun label that adults won't be embarrassed to have in the fridge. It has a gorgeous vibrant yellow colour too! A bit more citrus flavour than some of the other supermarket options, thanks to a combination of lemon juices that provide this one with a lovely balance point between tart and sweet. 8 Co-Op's version is packed with traditional and comforting fruity flavour Credit: Damien McFadden A little less gassy than some other options. It seems a bit softer and gentler to sip, which I rather enjoyed. But if you prefer the bubbles-up-your-nose sensation of a fizzy drink, you might want one with a bit more 'pop'. It also means it is likely to go flat faster. Very refreshing and tasty though, and packed with traditional and comforting fruity flavour. Delicious, and a perfect drink on a summery day. Rating: 5/5 Cloudy Lemonade, 2 litres, 80p, Morrisons THIS no-added-sugar fizz from Morrisons has a delicious cloudy hue that had the strongest citrus colour of all the bottles of pop I slurped. Made with 4 per cent concentrated lemon, it gives you all the soft tang of the fruit but it has been made more palatable with the addition of some sweetness. 8 Morrisons' version had the strongest citrus colour of all the drinks tested Credit: Damien McFadden Very bubbly and fizzy, so a chilled glass of this on a warm day really hits the spot for refreshing you and quenching your thirst. I did find it had a slightly artificial aftertaste, but that's not uncommon with any carbonated drinks that have sucralose added to them. A lovely warm-weather sip that will be a great fridge standby at this time of year. Very good value, too. Rating: 4/5 Diet Cloudy Lemonade, 2 litres, 82p, Asda LOADS of lemon bubbles for your bucks in Asda's own citrus fizz, which is tangy and tasty. While not as sharp or tingly on the tongue as some others, it is still packed with the flavours of the fruit. 8 This would make a super mixer with spirits such as vodka or gin Credit: Damien McFadden A very pale yellow-green cloudy colour which, when chilled, looks delicious. You'll be pleased to pour out a glass of this to quench your thirst on a hot day, and it's even better over ice. It is made with 4 per cent concentrated juice and is another supermarket slurper to come as a diet option. If you fancy a change from a plain lemonade, the fruit flavour really does elevate this to a more enjoyable drink. It would make a super mixer with spirits such as vodka or gin. The mother-of-one was in Europe marking Rhode's summer club in Mallorca as they marked the release of the collection's 'lemontini peptide lip tint' and their range of summer kit. Hailey appeared to be enjoying the sun in a stunning lemon two piece as she posed with a cool drink and showed off her tattoo. Fans were quick to comment and one wrote: "So happy I got the bundle." Showbiz News MONEY HONEY Kim Kardashian fans convinced she spent $10million on designer bag Another added: "I never checked out so fast I got the kit and extra lemontini and a case!" While a third said: "Can we please have a Rhode book with all of these photoshoots! I'm in love with these photos!" Hailey recently sold her skincare brand Rhode to e.l.f. Beauty for a reported $1 billion. According to two sources close to Hailey, the 28-year-old was bawling her eyes out when the deal was struck, with friends and family flooding her phone with over 900 congratulatory messages. One insider claims the stress of closing the astonishing takeover had taken its toll. The state of Hailey's seven-year marriage has been a hot topic this year, and Justin Bieber's erratic behaviour has been making headlines for months. Solemn Hailey Bieber seen WITHOUT her wedding ring on separate outings in NYC amid Justin divorce rumors Hailey was allegedly making a point of ditching her wedding ring after becoming fed-up with Justin's behavior, a top body language expert has said. The US Sun shared how Hailey, 28, has been spotted without her wedding ring on numerous outings in New York City, as divorce rumors ramp up. And how Justin hadn't been to his long-time church for at least three months amid drama with his pastor and accusations of a cult-like atmosphere at the institution, insiders have claimed. The pop star, 31, had previously been pictured attending Churchome, a nondenominational church in Beverly Hills, with his wife, Hailey, but he'd been missing in action since March. Justin and Hailey's Relationship Timeline Photo credit: Patrick T. Fallon/AFP Justin and Hailey go way back as she met him when she was just 12 years old during a 2009 Today show appearance. In 2011, the two were pictured together along with Hailey's father at Justin's Never Say Never documentary premiere where she called him "cute." November 2014 Dating rumors began after they were spotted together at a Hillsong Church service. During an interview with E! News, Hailey denied they were together. They also rung in 2015 together. December 2015 Dating rumors surfaced again after Hailey was spotted on vacation with Justin and his family in Tulum, Mexico. Later that month, they rang in the New Year again, but this time, they were spotted kissing at Leonardo DiCaprio's New Year's Eve party in St. Barts, according to People. February 2016 Justin and Hailey acknowledged that they were in a relationship, but made it clear they were not exclusive. During another interview with E! News, Hailey said that the pair were "not an exclusive couple," adding, "relationships at this age are already complicated, but I don't really like to talk about it because it's between me and him." As for Justin, he spoke with GQ saying that Hailey was "someone I really love" but starting a serious relationship was not a good idea because there was already "a lot that [he had] to commit to," including a tour. Later that year, the pair split in a "very dramatic excommunication," according to People. June 2018 After Hailey and Justin called it quits, he got back together with Selena Gomez, but in May 2018, the pair called it quits for good. A few weeks later, Justin got back together with Hailey. "The common denominator, I promise you, is always church," Hailey told Vogue, via People. "By then we were past the drama. I just gave him a hug. By the end of the conference, he was like, 'We're not going to be friends.' I was like, 'We're not?' " The pair went on to have a number of PDA-filled public appearances, confirming their relationship was back on. July 2018 Justin and Hailey announced their engagement. He popped the question during a romantic dinner in the Bahamas while they were on vacation, according to People. "Hailey I am soooo in love with everything about you! So committed to spending my life getting to know every single part of you loving you patiently and kindly," Justin said in an Instagram post. September 2018 On September 13, 2018, Hailey and Justin tied the knot during a courthouse wedding in New York City. November 2018 Hailey changed her last name on social media from Hailey Rhode Baldwin to Hailey Rhode Baldwin Bieber. September 2019 Hailey and Justin had a wedding ceremony in front of their friends and family at the Montage Palmetto Bluff in Bluffton, South Carolina. But the Canadian pop superstar has now furiously hit back with a surprise 21-track album, which insiders say 'is his most personal and emotional record to date'. Swag, which Justin released yesterday is his first studio album since Justice in 2021 and covers everything from his struggle with fame to how he got his marriage to American model Hailey, 28, back on track. And she made her feelings crystal clear, snapping back at their critics when she shared a photograph of Justin's album cover on Instagram with the caption: 'Is it finally clocking to you f***ing losers?' The pair have made no secret about their struggles and in 2019 revealed they were having couple's counselling in a bid to help them communicate better. Justin, 31, shocked fans with his honesty less than a year into their union as he confessed: 'Marriage is very hard. 'Personal and raw." 5 The pair have made no secret about their marriage struggles Credit: Splash

The five cheap ways to HIDE cluttered toilet paper in your bathroom – and you won't need any extra storage

LOO KNEW The five cheap ways to HIDE cluttered toilet paper in your bathroom – and you won't need any extra storage Click to share on X/Twitter (Opens in new window) Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window) NOTHING ruins a chic bathroom like an old roll of toilet paper. But it turns out there are numerous ways to make the room feel luxurious and like a spa, while still keeping supplies stocked up. Sign up for Scottish Sun newsletter Sign up 3 Piling toilet rolls on top of the loo can look unsightly - but there are some clever storage tricks Credit: Getty Professional organisers have shared their best ideas for storing loo roll so it still looks fancy. Here are the top five…. 1. Lidded baskets Why not tuck away your toilet rolls in a stylish basket, which is a bathroom feature in itself? There are numerous options which could do the job, such as wicker ones with a lid. More on cleaning tips ALL GROWN UP Ten things Brits hate about adulting the most from cleaning to overspending Petya Holevich, house cleaning expert and supervisor at Fantastic Services, suggested to Home and Gardens: 'Place a lidded basket or decorative storage box near the toilet, either on the floor or on a shelf. Choose a container that complements the bathroom's decor to keep it discreet. 'Opt for a box with a hinged lid for easy one-handed access.' 2. Add floating shelves Instead of putting your rolls in full view, why not add shelving to the walls which can help keep them hidden. Petya advised: 'Installing a floating shelf with a slide-out or lift-up compartment. A custom floating shelf above or beside the toilet can include a hidden compartment that opens with a push or lift mechanism. 'These are excellent for storing a few extra rolls while keeping them completely out of view. Make sure the mechanism is easy to operate even with one hand.' 3. Rolling carts Another option is to use a rolling cart, or a slide-out unit, which discreetly stores extra toilet roll supplies. I transformed my bathroom using B&M and Amazon buys 3 You can pick up a narrow option on Wayfair, which could be narrow enough to be housed between your toilet and sink. Choose a rolling cart with a solid back, like this one, so you could also turn it against the wall to hide the shelves from sight. 4. Base or upper cabinets 3 Under sink storage could be the perfect place to store loo roll - if you keep it protected from damp Credit: Getty One of the main ways to hide toilet rolls is in a bathroom cabinet, which could be placed under or above a sink or by a toilet. Tammy Cailliau, bathroom supplier and owner of Tampa Bay Granite, added that if you are doing this, you should add something to protect the rolls from water. She said: 'We often recommend people use a plastic Rubbermaid storage tote or just an extra cover, to help elevate the bottom rolls off the base when storing in a base cabinet because a water leak from a P-trap under the sink can damage the rolls.' 5. Keep them out of the bathroom If you really don't have the space, you could remove spare toilet rolls from the bathroom altogether. In fact, some home organisers prefer to do this for their longevity as well as for aesthetic reasons. Some of the popular locations outside the bathroom include airing cupboards or a hallway cupboard. Sarah Day, storage expert at Pay Less for Storage, explained why this is beneficial. She said: 'Toilet rolls are by their very nature hugely absorbent. This means they soak up ambient moisture in the air, especially in condensation-filled bathrooms after a hot shower or a bath.' She said over time, damp and soggy toilet rolls can even harbour mould spores.
