Mohd Khalid stated that Hussein's appointment as the new JSJN director demonstrates the leadership's trust in his capabilities.

The IGP also witnessed the transfer of duties from outgoing acting JSJN director Datuk Mat Zani @ Mohd Salahuddin Che Ali to Hussein.
Deputy IGP Tan Sri Ayob Khan Mydin Pitchay was present at the event.
Mohd Khalid urged all police personnel to maintain professionalism and integrity.

A syndicate used the house to store the drugs before selling them locally and overseas. A 30-year-old Malaysian man, who works as the syndicate's coordinator and transporter, was detained in the raid on July 29. Bukit Aman Narcotics Crime Investigation Department (NCID) director Comm Datuk Hussein Omar Khan said 234kg of syabu hidden in 225 tea packages and 205.7kg of ketamine in 200 tea packages were seized. 'The drugs are worth RM17.78mil. They could have been supplied to 1.8 million drug users,' he told reporters at the police headquarters yesterday. The detained suspect was paid RM7,000 for each trip of drugs transported, he added. 'We believe he already made 10 trips before being caught. The house was rented by the syndicate for RM6,000 per month for a year,' he said. Initial investigations revealed that the syndicate has been active since June. 'We believe the drugs had just arrived from a neighbouring country on the northern part of the Malaysian border. 'The drugs were transported by land.' Comm Hussein said the NCID planned the operation within a month after receiving credible intelligence. 'Given the size of the drugs, the syndicate is huge with good network overseas,' he said. 'The NCID will continue to track down other members of the syndicate and the mastermind. 'We also seized two cars, three luxury watches and a mobile phone.' In another case, 42.3kg of ganja buds worth RM1.48mil were seized at an apartment in Taman Kuchai Entrepreneurs on July 29. 'We detained a local man along with a man and two women from Vietnam. 'The local man was the syndicate's transporter and coordinator while the foreign suspects had arrived in Malaysia on July 8. 'The Vietnamese women also worked as guest relation officers,' he said. The drugs seized were meant to be distributed in the Klang Valley, he said. Comm Hussein said the NCID will continue to combat the drug menace but needs the cooperation of the public. Of the total, 7,196 individuals had been charged in court for various offences under the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952, he said. DCP Mohd Alwi said 4,498 investigation papers related to drug trafficking and possession were also opened during this period. He added that another 7,938 investigations were conducted for drug abuse offences under Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952, while actions were taken against 251 individuals under Section 39C(1) of the same Act. 'The arrests were the result of continuous operations and intelligence-led enforcement efforts, targeting traffickers, distributors and users across the state,' he said during a press conference at the North Seberang Perai police headquarters' centralised evidence storage facility in Jalan Kedah yesterday. Earlier, DCP Mohd Alwi witnessed the disposal of 120.9kg of seized drugs worth about RM2mil. The drugs included 19.75kg of heroin and monoacetylmorphine, 53.57kg of cannabis, 2.9kg of ketamine, 42.61kg of methamphetamine and 2.1kg of various psychotropic pills. He said the substances were seized during 5,265 investigation cases handled by the state Narcotics Crime Investigation Department (NCID) between 2010 and 2024, covering five districts in Penang.

Man arrested, RM17.8 million drugs seized in Kuala Lumpur raid
KUALA LUMPUR: Police have arrested a man and seized 439.7 kilogrammes of syabu and ketamine worth over RM17 million in a raid on a house in Sri Hartamas. The operation, conducted at 2.10 pm last Thursday, followed a month-long intelligence effort by Bukit Aman Narcotics Crime Investigation Department. Director Datuk Hussein Omar Khan confirmed the seizure as one of the largest this year. A search of the terrace house uncovered 224 packets of syabu weighing 234kg and 200 plastic packets of ketamine weighing 205.7kg. The total drug value was estimated at RM17.78 million. 'The 30-year-old suspect acted as a coordinator and transporter for the syndicate, earning RM6,500 to RM7,000 monthly,' Hussein said during a press conference at Kuala Lumpur police headquarters. Preliminary investigations revealed the rented house served as a storage facility before local distribution. 'All drugs were smuggled via land routes from a neighbouring country. The suspect received instructions to deliver them on demand,' he added. The man, with a prior weapons-related offence, tested negative for drug use. He has been remanded for six days under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952. Police also seized two cars, three wristwatches, and jewellery worth RM93,350, bringing total confiscations to RM17.9 million. In a separate case, four individuals, including three Vietnamese nationals, were arrested in Taman Kuchai Entrepreneurs for distributing cannabis. Authorities found 42.3kg of cannabis flower in 91 plastic packets during the raid. 'The syndicate used the apartment as a storage site before local and international distribution,' Hussein said. The suspects, aged 26 to 30, were remanded for seven days under the same act. - Bernama
