RedMagic Astra Gaming Tablet unboxing

GSM Arenaa day ago
The RedMagic Astra Gaming Tablet made its global debut yesterday and will open for an Early Bird pre-order from July 10 to July 15, starting at $469/€469/£409. So our unboxing is just in time!
The tablet ships with just a USB-C cable, but if you pre-order during the promo period, RedMagic will throw in an 80W charger for free!
We'll get to the specs, but the compact size of the Astra Gaming Tablet is what truly defines this machine. RedMagic, naturally, bills it as a gaming tablet, but it could be an excellent travel companion for multimedia consumption and staying connected!
It's easy to hold this tablet in one hand, thanks to the flat metal frame. And at only 374 grams, it's light enough to allow prolonged use. Still, we wouldn't mind a folio-style case for added protection.
It's this small
The RedMagic Astra Gaming Tablet is well-specced indeed. It's running a Snapdragon 8 Elite that has an advanced cooling system to rely on. There's a Liquid Metal layer on top of the SoC to move heat away from it and onto a complex vapor chamber.
Then there's an active cooling fan that spins quietly to move heat out of the tablet. RedMagic says all of this cooling brings down the Snapdragon 8 Elite's temperature by 8°C, which is very significant under load.
Despite its diminutive size, the tablet packs an 8,200mAh battery too!
Solid specs and a built-in fan
The display is excellent. We appreciate that it's an OLED panel and not an LCD (as good as those are these days). You can really feel the bump up from 120Hz to 165Hz; animations are sharper and zippier.
There are just two speakers on either side of the Astra Gaming Tablet, but they're boomy. They have very solid volume, too. Led Zeppelin comes alive in a way that's not possible on your flagship phone. You could use this tablet as an ad hoc speaker for your tunes.
Compact tablet doubters will say that you should just buy a foldable phone instead of a portable tablet. But there's definitely a place and suitable use cases for a high-end small tablet. It's superb for on-the-go multimedia enjoyment - videos simply are nicer on this than on your phone!
And of course, the RedMagic Astra Gaming Tablet will excel at gaming in a way a phone wouldn't, thanks to its bigger canvas, its potent (and properly cooled) hardware, and its bigger battery!

Leaked renders of the official Galaxy Z Flip 7 cases give us an early look at Samsung's accessories

A leaked render of the Galaxy Z Flip 7 . | Image by AndroidHeadlines This year's summer Galaxy Unpacked is coming July 9, and Samsung is expected to officially announce the Galaxy Z Fold 7, Galaxy Z Flip 7, and Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE. We've already seen multiple leaks of the phones themselves, but a new leak has revealed all the accessories Samsung might offer for the Galaxy Z Flip 7 . If the leak is accurate, Samsung's flip foldable will launch with four cases and an anti-reflective screen protector. The cases are a Kindsuit case, a Silicon Ring case, and two types of Clear case. All of them look the same as the ones Samsung offered last year with the Galaxy Z Flip 6, except the new clear magnet case. The clear case doesn't defy any expectations, and it has two simple parts that cover the upper and lower parts of the device. One of the versions features a ring-shaped grip on the lower half and resembles last year's silicone case. Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7 | Images credit—Android Headlines Samsung's clear case also has a version that replaces the grip with a ring of magnets. Their goal is to provide Qi2 support, and the renders might as well confirm that the Galaxy Z Flip 7 won't have built-in MagSafe. Although there's no information about the pricing, this version will likely be more expensive than the base clear case. Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7 | Image credit—Android Headlines Like its name suggests, the Silicon Ring case has a ring grip on the back. It looks more or less identical to the non-magnet clear case, and last year's version was $39.99. Samsung may offer the Silicon Ring case in mint, coral, blue, and black colors, which match the rumored colors of the Flip 7 . Samsung's faux leather offering is the Kindsuit case, which may return for the Galaxy Flip 7 . That one will be offered in three colors – camel, taupe, and black. Last year, this was the most expensive case, retailing at $99. The anti-reflective screen protector for the Flip 7 cover screen has a pill-shaped cutout for the camera and will ship with extra accessories for easier and better application. Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7 | Images credit—Android Headlines I think the accessories for the Galaxy Z Flip 7 look great. However, it strikes me as odd to get Qi2 support only with a clear case. I'd expect Samsung to equip the priciest cases with every available feature, but the leak doesn't mention anything about magnets on the Kindsuit cases. Otherwise, the accessories won't surprise anyone, but that's not the idea. The idea is to protect our phones and make them look more personalized. Secure your connection now at a bargain price! EU label reveals Samsung Galaxy Z Fold7's battery endurance and IP rating

The EU now requires smartphone makers to include easy to read labels that indicate battery life and longevity, an IP rating, plus drop resistance and repairability scores for each new model. Those are great for consumers and, as it turns out, great for leaks – here is the label for the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold7. The Z Fold7 will have a 4,400mAh battery, the same as its predecessor. The exact capacity is not on the label, but the expected battery life on a single charge is – 40 hours and 28 minutes. Additionally, the battery is rated for 2,000 charge cycles (while retaining at least 80% of its original capacity). EPREL label for the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold7 The phone is rated IP48 for water resistance. That is no longer the top rating for foldables as newer models already offer IP59. The Galaxy foldable did score a perfect A for drop resistance, though. As for its repairability rating, it got an average C. How to read an EPREL label Note the QR code in the top right corner. That leads to a more detailed page, though in this particular case there is nothing – here is the link. The page explains that there may be a 'delay up to 72 hours between the date the model is placed on the market and its information being accessible in this site.' For an example of what the page should look like, here is the Galaxy S25 Edge information page. It lists the battery (3,786mAh rated capacity) and battery life per charge – 40 hours and 5 minutes, or just a bit less than the Z Fold7. There are additional details like repairability information, submersion depth for the water resistance rating and even a Mohs hardness scale for the glass. Source
