Tom Brady's $375 million Fox Sports deal hits major holiday roadblock as Netflix bans shake up NFL broadcasting
Tom Brady may have found his stride as a broadcaster, but his second season in the Fox Sports booth is already facing serious turbulence. The seven-time Super Bowl champ, who signed a massive $375 million, 10-year deal to join Fox's top NFL commentary team, is reportedly being sidelined from one of the biggest TV moments of the year — the NFL's Christmas Day games.
Networks block top talent from
Netflix
's holiday NFL takeover
According to sources cited by Michael McCarthy and Ryan Glasspiegel, Fox Sports plans to withhold its biggest stars — including Tom Brady, Kevin Burkhardt, Michael Strahan, and Terry Bradshaw — from participating in Netflix's Christmas coverage of two high-profile games. That's a serious blow to the streaming platform, which is investing heavily in building its sports footprint by airing marquee NFL matchups like Cowboys vs.
Commanders and Lions vs. Vikings.
The move reflects escalating turf wars between traditional TV powerhouses and streaming giants as the NFL expands into digital broadcasting. 'Some rival networks are bristling at the idea of lending their on-air talents to the streaming behemoth,' the report states, revealing that ESPN is also barring its talent from appearing on Netflix's coverage.
Last year, CBS and NBC made exceptions by letting their announcers cross over.

But this season, both Fox and ESPN appear to be drawing a hard line. It leaves Netflix scrambling to fill high-caliber commentary slots while fans are left wondering what voices will guide them through some of the year's most-watched games.
Tom Brady's off-field life remains under the spotlight
While Brady may be benched from Netflix's NFL broadcasts, he's still grabbing headlines. The former Patriots and Buccaneers star made waves at Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sánchez's opulent Venice wedding, where he was reportedly spotted 'chatting up' actress Sydney Sweeney, fresh off her own breakup.
TMZ reported that the pair closed down the bar and danced the night away.
Romantic rumors aside, Brady seems to be focusing on his broadcasting journey — but the tension between Fox's broadcasting priorities and the NFL's shifting media landscape could put him in a complicated position.

With LeBron James 's future still in question, the Lakers hope a new strategy could not only please their star but also bring them closer to another championship. Deandre Ayton signing shows Los Angeles Lakers' clear push for finals success On July 8, the Los Angeles Lakers officially signed Deandre Ayton, the former No. 1 pick from the 2018 NBA Draft, to strengthen their center position. He helped the Phoenix Suns reach the 2021 NBA Finals and now joins LeBron James under a contract supported by Pelinka. — mcten (@mcten) Pelinka said, 'Acquiring a starting-caliber center was the top priority for us this offseason, and we believe Deandre is an amazing solution to that objective and is an ideal player to add to our current core.' His words show how much the team wants to build a title-ready roster around James and their new face, Luka Doncic. Rob Pelinka adds depth, experience, and flexibility to support LeBron James Deandre Ayton fills a gap by protecting the rim and scoring in the paint. He excels in pick-and-roll plays, a role he perfected alongside Chris Paul in Phoenix. The Lakers believe Ayton's strength around the basket balances LeBron's playmaking. The front office also added Jaxson Hayes, known for a high shooting percentage and energy off the bench. Hayes's 72% shooting last season gives useful depth to the center rotation. NHL trade rumors: Maple Leafs linked to shocking Morgan Rielly–Nazem Kadri swap to fix top-six gap
Toronto Maple Leafs are considering trading Morgan Rielly (Imagn Images) As the Toronto Maple Leafs regroup following Mitch Marner's high-profile departure in a sign-and-trade to the Vegas Golden Knights, NHL insiders are speculating about how the team plans to fill the void. One bold suggestion has now sparked a wave of debate: trading Morgan Rielly for Calgary Flames center Nazem Kadri. Could the Toronto Maple Leafs trade Morgan Rielly for Nazem Kadri? The trade proposal, first floated by NHL analyst Adam Proteau in The Hockey News, lays out a scenario in which Toronto would swap their long-time defenseman for a veteran forward who once wore the Maple Leafs jersey. Kadri, now with Calgary and signed to a seven-year, $49 million deal, could be the answer to Toronto's gaping hole in the top six. General Manager Brad Treliving has been transparent about the team's post-Marner priorities. 'Mitch was a top-six forward, and we haven't replaced that hole,' Treliving said in early July. 'That's really where our focus is.' With the free-agent market offering limited options, Proteau argues that trades remain the most realistic path forward—and Kadri may be the best fit. Kadri is already familiar with Toronto's system and market pressure. Bringing him back could allow the Leafs to slot him in as the second-line center, shift John Tavares to the wing or a more sheltered third-line role, and bolster the team's depth down the middle. Cap hit and contract details align—but there's a catch Financially, the deal makes surprising sense. Rielly's cap hit is $7.5 million through 2030, while Kadri comes at $7 million annually through 2029. Proteau calls it an almost perfect cap match. 'Certainly, the money involved in a Kadri/Rielly trade is almost a perfect match,' he wrote. However, he notes the Flames might want an additional sweetener—like a second-round pick—to offset Rielly's extra year. Both players have no-trade clauses, but Proteau believes the fit is attractive enough that both sides could agree. 'A reunion with Kadri surely would be welcomed by the former Leaf,' he added. While still speculative, the trade idea highlights Toronto's urgency and potential willingness to part with a foundational piece to solve their offensive depth crisis.
