Accenture expands Google Cloud partnership
The new offerings span five main areas, including agentic AI, customer experience modernisation, wide area network (WAN) services, Google Distributed Cloud (GDC) solutions, and mainframe modernisation.
As part of the expansion, Accenture is broadening its catalogue of agent solutions tailored to specific industries and functions. These solutions leverage Google Agentspace and Gemini's reasoning models and are available through the joint Accenture Google Gen AI Centre of Excellence.
Accenture's AI Refinery platform also supports Google Cloud's new Agent2Agent interoperability protocol, allowing AI agents to interact more effectively with a range of applications.
In customer experience, Accenture is launching tools that use its GenWizard platform and Google's Customer Engagement Suite.
These tools facilitate the migration of legacy contact systems to Contact-Center-as-a-Service, allow deployment of AI agents, implementation of gen AI-based testing and analytics frameworks, and provide omni-channel analytics capabilities.
Accenture is also introducing packaged solutions based on GDC that are aimed at sectors including public services, manufacturing, and utilities.
In networking, Accenture is incorporating Google Cloud's new Cloud WAN service into its Cloud Network Operator platform. This provides enterprises with secure connectivity to applications while enhancing operations, security, governance, and compliance.
For mainframe modernisation, Accenture is using Gemini-powered tools to enhance its GenWizard platform.
This will accelerate the analysis and assessment of mainframe inventories, code conversion, and reverse engineering processes, benefiting industries like banking, health, and retail.
Accenture is also applying these technologies internally. Its research team, in collaboration with Kensho, S&P Global's AI hub, is using Google's third-party grounding capability to integrate S&P Global financial data into research models.
This approach enhances access to reliable data with traceability.
In March 2025, Accenture expanded its footprint and AI capabilities in the Nordic region with the acquisition of AI company Halfspace.
Halfspace is engaged in developing AI and generative AI solutions that simplify complex business workflows.

Could Google's Veo 3 be the start of playable world models?
Demis Hassabis, CEO of Google's AI research organization DeepMind, appeared to suggest Tuesday evening that Veo 3, Google's latest video-generating model, could potentially be used for video games. In response to a post on X beseeching Google to 'let me play a video game of my veo 3 videos already,' and asking, 'playable world models wen?' Hassabis responded, 'now wouldn't that be something.' On Wednesday morning, Logan Kilpatrick, lead product for Google's AI Studio and Gemini API, chimed in with a reply: '🤐🤐🤐🤐' Both posts from the Google executives are little more than playful suggestions, and a Google spokesperson told TechCrunch the company had nothing to share at the moment. But building playable world models isn't outside the realm of possibilities for the tech giant. now wouldn't that be something… — Demis Hassabis (@demishassabis) July 2, 2025 World models are different from video generation models. The former simulates the dynamics of a real-world environment, which lets agents predict how the world will evolve in response to their actions. Video gen models synthesize realistic video sequences. Google has plans to turn its multimodal foundation model, Gemini 2.5 Pro, into a world model that simulates aspects of the human brain. In December, DeepMind unveiled Genie 2, a model that can generate an 'endless' variety of playable worlds. The following month, we reported that Google was forming a new team to work on AI models that can simulate the real world. Others are working on building world models — most notably, AI pioneer Fei-Fei Li. Li came out of stealth last year with World Labs, a startup that has built its own AI system that generates video game-like, 3D scenes from a single image. Boston, MA | REGISTER NOW Veo 3, which is still in public preview, can create video as well as audio to go along with clips — anything from speech to soundtracks. While Veo 3 creates realistic movements by simulating real-world physics, it isn't quite a world model yet. Instead, it could be used for cinematic storytelling in games, like cutscenes, trailers, and narrative prototyping The model is also still a 'passive output' generative model, and it (or a future Veo generation) would need to shift to a simulator that's more active, interactive, and predictive. But the real challenge with video game production isn't just impressive visuals; it's real-time, consistent, and controllable simulation. That's why it might make sense to see Google take a hybrid approach that leverages Veo and Genie in the future, should it pursue video game or playable world development. Google could find itself competing with Microsoft, Scenario, Runway, Pika and, eventually, OpenAI's video-generating model Sora. Given Google's planned moves in the world models space and its reputation for using its deep pockets and distribution muscle to steamroll rivals, competitors in this space would be wise to keep a close watch.

Google Chrome Warning—Update Or Stop Using Browser By July 23
Google confirms attacks on Chrome are underway. Google has confirmed that Chrome is under attack again, and has issued another emergency update for all users following the mandatory 'configuration change' it pushed out last week. Whatever device you're running, you need to ensure you have downloaded the latest software and then you need to restart your browser. As I suggested would happen, America's cyber defence agency has now mandated federal employees update or stop using Chrome within 3 weeks, on or before July 23. The warning also applies to Microsoft Edge and other Chromium-based browsers. CISA warns that Chrome's V8 Javascript engine 'contains a type confusion vulnerability that could allow a remote attacker to perform arbitrary read/write via a crafted HTML page.' That means just visiting the wrong website could put you at risk. In confirming CVE-2025-6554, Google explained that it would not release any further details at this time, 'until a majority of users are updated with a fix.' But the fact it was discovered by Google's own Threat Analysis Group just five days before the fix was released — with a config change even faster than that — tells you how urgent this is. The assumption is that this will have been found in highly targeted attacks, the kind that use specialized websites to lure specific victims or links and other social media, email or text messages to deploy its attacks. But the fact this is now public domain and being fixed means the risks are high as attackers deployments before it's too late. This is the fourth actively exploited zero-day this year, and it highlights how important it is to keep all browsers updated at all times. While CISA's mandate only applies to federal agency staff, its remit extends to all organizations to help them 'better manage vulnerabilities and keep pace with threat activity.' You will see a flag within Chrome telling you an update has been downloaded and you need to restart. All your tabs should reopen, albeit your Incognito private browsing tabs will not. So make sure there's nothing unsaved in any of those. Following Google's warning that it's 'aware that an exploit for CVE-2025-6554 exists in the wild," we can expect more detail on the vulnerability over the coming weeks.
