Former Real Madrid assistant manager and son of Carlo Ancelotti, Davide Ancelotti, has taken his first step into management, after four years back at the Santiago Bernabeu. After a number of flirtations with clubs, Ancelotti junior will manage in Brazil for the first time.
Ancelotti will become the new manager of Botafogo, as per Marca, after agreeing to a deal with the Brazilian champions. The Italian has a tough act to follow, replacing Renato Paiva, less than a year on from securing the Brazilian title and their first ever Copa Libertadores trophy. Davide Ancelotti has given the green light for a deal.

Options across Europe for Davide Ancelotti
Recent years have seen Davide Ancelotti linked with a number of positions. After becoming a fitness coach for Paris Saint-Germain alongside his father in 2012, he would spend the next 13 years by his side, becoming a coach and then assistant manager. Some of the clubs on his trajectory include Bayern Munich, Napoli and Everton before returing to Los Blancos for a second time in 2021.
Everton were one of the sides that reached out to Ancelotti to offer him work as the senior man in charge, followed by conversations with Reims last summer, and this year Parma, Como and Rangers. Ancelotti was down to the final pairing for the job at Ibrox, but they decided to appoint Russell Martin instead.
Close to father Carlo Ancelotti
With Davide landing in Rio de Janeiro in the coming days, he will again be close to his father, who has signed with the Brazil national team until the end of the 2026 World Cup in the United States, Mexico and Canada. It is the first time that Davide has worked without his father, although it would be no surprise if he leaned on him for advice.

Highly regarded at Real Madrid
Davide Ancelotti was well-regarded at Valdebebas, with the young Italian earning praise for his attention to detail, set-piece work and closeness with the players. Naturally, this will be a different job for him now, but in Real Madrid's 2024 Champions League triumph, Davide Ancelotti was afforded plenty of credit.

Thousands paid $50 to secure a season ticket for a Halifax CFL team. Some wonder where the money went

When the proposed Atlantic Schooners CFL franchise announced a season-ticket drive in late 2018, Rob MacCormick spent $100 on a deposit for two seats. The Windsor Junction, N.S., sports fan wanted to support the team. He also hoped that if the franchise came to fruition, more concerts would come to the city because of the stadium the team needed to construct as part of the venture. MacCormick wasn't alone in placing a deposit. The Canadian Press reported in December 2018 that 6,000 people had done the same. At $50 a ticket, that's at least $300,000. CBC News spoke to 10 people who said they paid the deposit. Eight — including MacCormick — said they did not receive refunds. "When you go a pair at a time, it certainly does add up, and maybe somebody should be accountable to this," said MacCormick. As the COVID-19 pandemic arrived, the CFL venture disappeared from the public conversation. Two affiliated companies behind the idea — Schooner Sports and Entertainment and Maritime Football Limited — have had their registrations revoked in the Registry of Joint Stock Companies. Schooner Sports and Entertainment sought municipal and provincial funding to build a 24,000-seat, $110-million stadium in Shannon Park. The space would have been used for community sports and major concerts as well. In December 2019, Halifax council voted to give the proponents $20 million, but only if a list of conditions were met. "We're thrilled. We thank council for their due diligence and very spirited debate. We're very excited to move forward," said Schooner Sports and Entertainment partner Anthony LeBlanc. By April 2020, LeBlanc had taken an executive role with the NHL's Ottawa Senators. However, he remained a director with Maritime Football Limited, the Registry of Joint Stock Companies information shows. MacCormick said he used to get the odd email from Schooner Sports and Entertainment about things like town hall events. He even received a holiday email encouraging him to buy tickets for loved ones. But the emails eventually dried up. "Over time, I felt that the deposit was gone and it was $100, not the end of the world, but you know, it just felt like things weren't going to happen," said MacCormick. The CFL maintains an Atlantic Schooners website. While updates on the state of the franchise are several years old, the site still pulls in fresh stories from the league's website. Jason Mullis, a diehard CFL fan who lives in Gatineau, Que., also put down a deposit for season tickets. He bought tickets because he wanted to see an East Coast franchise that would create a coast-to-coast league and establish a much-sought 10th team. Mullis, who has driven across the country to attend games at all CFL stadiums, has a Facebook page called the Cflhobo that he uses to share his passion for the league. He planned to purchase season tickets for a Halifax franchise, but would have donated most of them given geographic constraints. Mullis said he's not concerned about the refund money, but said he saw some online chatter from unhappy fans. "People were upset. 'Oh, I haven't heard nothing. Where's our money?'" he said."But, I don't worry about it. If you really want it back, you can complain enough, you'll get your money back." CBC contacted officials with Schooner Sports and Entertainment. LeBlanc agreed to an interview, but later sent along a statement instead. In it, he said the proponents are setting up a portal to honour new refund requests. He said information on the portal will be released shortly. LeBlanc said that when Schooner Sports and Entertainment shut down in 2023, the company had no assets or liabilities, and had been offering refunds to season ticket holders for five years. "These deposits were and continued to be refundable, with a significant number of deposit holders seeking refunds," he said in the email. "All of the requests that were submitted through proper channels have been honoured." LeBlanc said the effort to bring a CFL franchise to Halifax involved "significant and material financial obligations, all of which were honoured." He said Schooner Sports and Entertainment partnered with organizations that included architectural, public relations, government relations and marketing firms. Schooner Sports and Entertainment also partnered with the CFL on a 2019 game that was held in Moncton, N.B., that led to "significant and material financial losses," said LeBlanc. The organization decided to spike the CFL franchise, in part, because of a lack of appetite to help fund the project. "With the onset of the pandemic, all public sector entities made the very prudent decision to pause, and eventually withdrew agreements and suspended ongoing discussions regarding the project," said LeBlanc. 🚨 Boca agree deal with Atlético Nacional for Jorman Campuzano sale

This weekend, the appearance of Jorman Campuzano in Boca Juniors training sessions at the Ezeiza premises caused some surprise. The Colombian midfielder, who has a contract with Xeneize until June 2026, officially ended his loan at Atlético Nacional, where he played on loan since mid-2024, and presented himself to train with the Boca squad led by Miguel Ángel Russo. Advertisement For Verdolaga, it is a very important loss, since Campuzano was a key player in the team that achieved the League, Cup, and Supercup titles at the domestic level in the past season. Luckily for Atlético Nacional, Boca Juniors would have given in to their aspirations for Jorman Campuzano to stay in Medellín in the next season. Verbal agreement between Boca and Atlético Nacional According to information from Germán García Grova, the clubs reached an agreement for the transfer of Campuzano to Atlético Nacional. The green team would pay an amount of around $1.7 million for 100% of the 30-year-old defensive midfielder's rights. Advertisement If this news and figure are officially confirmed, Boca would have lowered their initial demands to reach an agreement. After his return to training this weekend, in Boca it was considered that he had no place in the team, and the club was willing to negotiate his departure. But according to Planeta Boca Juniors, Xeneize had rejected Nacional's initial offer, as it was lower than the purchase option stipulated in the loan, set at $2.5 million. After being brought down by Gianluigi Donnarumma in the PSG vs Bayern match, many wondered if the injury was severe. Advertisement By the looks of both PSG and Bayern players around Musiala, many believed the player would be missing the entirety of next season. Bayern Munich confirmed that Musiala suffered a fractured fibula as a result of an ankle dislocation. BILD reported that the injury could leave him out for around four to five months, which is less than what many fans expected. The German club has announced an update on the German star who is set to start his recovery. Bayern Munich on Jamal Musiala's injury Bayern Munich published a brief statement in regards to Jamal Musiala's injury. After announcing that the player suffered a fractured fibula, the club also informed that the player would require surgery. The club announced that Musiala has undergone a successful surgery. Bayern Munich: "Jamal Musiala has undergone successful surgery after returning from the Club World Cup in the USA. In the quarter-final between FC Bayern and Paris St. Germain, the 22-year-old attacking player suffered a fractured fibula as a result of a broken and dislocated ankle and was substituted at half-time. Advertisement BILD reported that Musiala flew back to Munich separately from the rest of the team. Bayern reportedly ordered a private air ambulance for a quick return. Musiala is expected to return fully fit around December or January 2026. Donnarumma faced backlash over Musiala's injury After the PSG vs Bayern game this past weekend, many criticized Donnarumma for his challenge on Musiala, which caused the injury. Manuel Neuer revealed his frustration with the Italian goalkeeper and explained what he said to him after the game. Manuel Neuer: "It was a situation where you don't have to go in like that. That's risk-taking. He [Donnarumma] was prepared to accept the risk of injuring his opponent. I went to him and said, 'Don't you want to go and see our player?' It's a matter of respect, of going there and wishing the guy all the best. He then did it. Fairplay is always a part of it. I would have reacted differently." Former Bayern Munich player Rafinha revealed on Sport TV the reactions of most Bayern Munich players towards Donnarumma for injuring Musiala. The Brazilian explained how Bayern players demanded an apology from Donnarumma. Rafinha: "They were angry because they wanted Donnarumma to at least apologize, since they saw that the injury was serious. After the game, there were heated conversations in the dressing room. The players went to him [Donnarumma] in the PSG dressing room to ask him to apologize; they exchanged some strong words. They demanded that, like a 'code of ethics', at least to apologize, even though he didn't do it on purpose."
