Ryan Lochte's new girlfriend aims thinly-veiled dig at his wife after she hinted Olympics legend 'betrayed' her

Daily Mail08-07-2025
Ryan Lochte 's new girlfriend has fired back at the Olympic hero's wife after she hinted a 'betrayal' had been the decisive factor behind their bitter split.
It comes a day after the former swimmer, 40, confirmed he is dating blonde mom-of-three Molly Gillihan, 37, in an exclusive interview with Daily Mail.
His wife - former Playboy model Kayla Rae Reid - revealed last month she had filed for divorce in March, insisting her seven-year marriage to Lochte was 'irretrievably broken.'
The shock split went unreported until she wrote about it in a cryptic Instagram post referencing 'trials we didn't choose or see coming', declining to say more.
Then, last week, Reid posted a cryptic message on Instagram where she talked about how 'betrayal' can lead to 'breakthrough'.
Lochte and Gillihan fell head over heels after meeting on the school run – but the dad-of-three is adamant that he never cheated on Reid.
And now his new partner has jumped to his defense, issuing an apparent rebuttal to Reid's suggestion there was some sort of 'betrayal' in their relationship.
'It's okay to be so happy that your heart could explode out of your chest and you want to shout it from the rooftops,' Gillihan wrote on her private Instagram account, according to TMZ Sports.
'If you've felt it, you know this to be true.
'We would not be here if we had anything to hide or if there had been any betrayal that occurred along the way. This little goofball came into my life patiently, sincerely, and honestly. I am choosing him. @ryanlochte.'
Talking to Daily Mail, a besotted Lochte gushed over his new partner.
He said: 'Molly is true to herself. She has a big heart. She's a kindergarten teacher so she has the patience of a freaking saint.
'It's awesome being with her. We're just living our best lives and having fun.'
The 40-year-old also revealed how his split from Reid is as acrimonious as ever.
'Kayla has blocked me on social media. She's the one that wanted this divorce in the first place and now she's playing this pity party,' Lochte added, icily.
'I want people to understand that Molly didn't take me away from my ex-wife. She didn't take me away from my kids.
'We got a divorce and I left. I moved down the street because I wanted to be in my kids' lives and I will always be in my kids' lives.
'There was no infidelity with Molly, like nothing. Molly didn't do anything wrong. She didn't pursue me, I pursued her.
'It was after I got served with the divorce papers. I was out of the house and living by myself. It was all after the fact.'
Two of Molly's children go to the same school in Gainesville, Florida, as the youngest two of Lochte's three kids, Caiden, eight, and Liv, six.
'I'm extremely happy with Ryan,' Molly told DailyMail.com.
'He pursued me some time after Kayla served him with divorce papers and he was living on his own.'

Phils' Cristopher Sanchez rides hot streak into start vs. Red Sox

July 22 - Cristopher Sanchez has emerged as a model of consistency for the Philadelphia Phillies. After a sizzling finish to the first half of the season, Sanchez takes the mound Tuesday when the Phillies host the Boston Red Sox. Sanchez was not chosen for the National League All-Star team despite allowing two runs or fewer in each of his past nine starts. His steadiness in July has been particularly notable, as he has allowed three runs in 21 1/3 innings this month, good for a 1.27 ERA. "I'm just so proud of (Sanchez) from where he started and where he's at right now," manager Rob Thomson said after the lefty gave up one run in 7 1/3 innings in a 2-1 win over the San Diego Padres in his most recent start on July 13. "Not just stuff, but command, poise and composure." The Phillies showed plenty of poise in the 10th inning on Monday, as they plated the winning run without putting a ball in play. Two walks, a wild pitch and a catcher's-interference call proved to be the decisive formula for Philadelphia against erratic Red Sox reliever Jordan Hicks. Phillies reliever Max Lazar kept his composure in the top of the 10th inning, striking out a pair of Boston hitters (and getting the other to ground out) to keep the game tied, setting up the winning rally. "He's been great. I trust him," Thomson said of Lazar, who emerged with his first major league win. "He's been really good. And he's got ice in his veins, too. He's really cool out there." Philadelphia starter Zack Wheeler allowed two runs and struck out 10 over six innings. Bryce Harper doubled twice and scored a run for the Phillies, who had lost six of their previous nine games. "You've got to win that game. You've got to win the series," Wheeler said. "And hopefully Sanchy can get us that win (Tuesday) to win the series." Jarren Duran homered for the Red Sox to open the game against Wheeler, but the visitors managed only one run the rest of the way. The team left eight runners on base and went 1-for-10 with runners in scoring position. Roman Anthony struck out four times in five at-bats, while Duran, Marcelo Mayer, Carlos Narvaez and Wilyer Abreu all struck out twice. "We had our chances, we didn't cash in," Boston manager Alex Cora said. "But shoot, that guy (Wheeler), he's one of the best -- if not the best -- in the big leagues." On Tuesday, the Red Sox will give the ball to Richard Fitts (1-3, 4.28), who will be making his ninth start of the season. He pitched well in his last appearance, a 9-3 win over the Colorado Rockies on July 7, when he gave up three runs (two earned) in 5 2/3 innings. It was the first major league win for Fitts, who said that he planned to frame the lineup card. "Good velocity, mixing up the off-speed pitches," said Cora, adding that Fitts has "been good for us -- really good. He gives us a chance to win almost every time." Fitts will be opposing the Phillies for the first time. Sanchez is 1-0 with a 6.43 ERA in two career starts appearances (one start) vs. Boston. --Field Level Media

Why Man Utd are angry with Brentford over Bryan Mbeumo transfer after finally landing £71million star

BRYAN MBEUMO claimed he chose Manchester United because he believes he WILL win silverware with his 'dream' club. Cameroon ace Mbeumo completed his £71million move from Brentford in time to join Ruben Amorim's squad on today's flight to Chicago for the Prem's Summer Series games in the USA. 1 But while United are thrilled at pulling off what they regard as a major transfer 'coup', there is anger at Brentford's attempt to sell the African star to Spurs or Newcastle instead of Old Trafford. Mbeumo, 25, joined for £65m up front plus £6m in potential add-ons, nearly six weeks after United's opening £55m bid was rejected by the Bees, and said he was joining his boyhood side. He said: 'As soon as I knew there was a chance to join Manchester United, I had to take the opportunity to sign for the club of my dreams. 'This is the team whose shirt I wore growing up. My mentality is to always be better than I was yesterday. 'I know that I have the spirit and character to reach another level here, learning from Ruben Amorim and playing alongside world-class players.' Mbeumo added he had been sold the club's vision both on and off the pitch. He explained: 'Everybody told me about the environment that is being created here and how exciting the plans are for the future. 'This is a massive club, with an incredible stadium and amazing fans, we are all really determined to challenge for the biggest trophies.' The deal followed United's £62.5m capture of Wolves' Brazilian Matheus Cunha, with the duo set to be in harness when Amorim's side face West Ham in New Jersey on Saturday in the opening leg of the three-match tournament. United are delighted with the signing, believing they beat off competition from Arsenal as well as Spurs and Newcastle, while there was also a late move by Chelsea. Club chiefs feel the deal proves the club is still showing a desire to spend big but also making football rather than commercial decisions. Amorim's need for attacking reinforcements has been significantly met, while Mbeumo's decision is seen as evidence that United remain a club that top players want to join. There is, though, a degree of frustration and disappointment at Brentford's handling of the deal, with the asking price understood to have reached a total of £77m at one point. United believe Brentford did not want to sell to them and tried hard to complete a deal with either Newcastle or Tottenham rather than allowing him an easy passage to Old Trafford, including suggesting his wage requirements were lowered to allow them to demand a higher fee. Brentford, though, argue that Mbeumo was told that was a way to break the impasse over the fee, when United were unwilling to reach the Bees' asking price. They insist United attempted to blow their rivals out of the water by making Mbeumo a mega-money wages offer but then used that in an attempt to crowbar them into accepting a lower fee, which brought a strong-arm response. And with former Bees boss Thomas Frank now in charge at Spurs, he would have told Tottenham Brentford's bottom price, meaning the North Londoners started with a higher offer than United. Nevertheless, the deal is a positive move for United and comes as Marcus Rashford closes in on his loan move to Barcelona, with the England star having travelled to Catalonia for his medical. United could also up their interest in Aston Villa's Argentine World Cup-winning keeper Emi Martinez, with Andre Onana a major doubt for the start of the season after his hamstring injury. And with Rashford on his way, the rest of the Old Trafford 'bomb squad' will be left behind at Carrington when Amorim and his squad fly at lunchtime. Jadon Sancho, Antony, Tyrell Malacia and Alejandro Garnacho have all been told they have no future at United.
