capabilities, as a powerful testament to India's advancing self-reliance in Defence sector, Prime
Minister Narendra Modi highlighted the strategic role of Defence self reliance and how States can
contribute to ''Aatmanirbharta'' (self reliance) in Defence sector.
The Prime Minister was chairing the 48th meeting of PRAGATI, the multi-modal platform aimed at fostering pro-active governance and timely implementation, by integrating efforts of central and state governments, here yesterday.
The Prime Minister reviewed the practices fostering Aatmanirbharta in Defence sector, undertaken by various Ministries, departments, and states/UTs and lauded the initiatives for their strategic significance and potential to spur innovation across the Defence ecosystem.
He also reviewed key infrastructure projects in Mines, Railways, and Water Resources and called upon states to fast-track development of Health Infrastructure in remote and aspirational districts. These projects, pivotal to economic growth and public welfare, were reviewed with a focus on timelines, inter-agency coordination and issue resolution.
He underscored that delays in project execution come at the dual cost of escalating financial outlays and denying citizens timely access to essential services and infrastructure and asked officials to adopt a results-driven approach to translate opportunity into improving lives.
During a review of the Prime Minister-Ayushman Bharat Health Infrastructure Mission (PM-ABHIM), he called upon all states to accelerate the development of health infrastructure and said equitable access to quality healthcare must be ensured for poor, marginalised, and underserved populations.

Mohalla clinics may become Arogya Mandir's sub-centres
NEW DELHI: The Delhi government is considering converting Mohalla Clinics operating from porta cabins into sub-centres of Arogya Mandirs, in line with the Centre's Ayushman Bharat Health Infrastructure Mission (AB-HIM), officials privy to the matter said. According to officials, training for staff who will be deployed at these centres is set to begin next month. In April, the Delhi government announced the closure of 250 Aam Aadmi Mohalla Clinics operating from rented premises across the city and the establishment of Arogya Mandirs in nearby locations to replace them. However, for the remaining Mohalla Clinics, converting them into full-fledged Arogya Mandirs appears unfeasible due to space constraints and other operational challenges. 'It was discussed in a meeting held last month, where PWD said shifting Mohalla Clinics in porta cabins would involve significant cost. So, keeping that in mind, there is a proposal to turn them into sub-centres of Arogya Mandirs, where basic primary healthcare services will be provided,' said a government official. Additionally, cancer screening is set to begin in Arogya Mandirs, officials said. 'Medical officers from Arogya Mandirs have been asked to submit a list of staff. Once compiled, they will be trained in cancer screening at a government hospital,' official added.

‘Women-led development' paving way for new India: PM Modi at Mann Ki Baat
NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday said the mantra of 'women-led development' is creating a new future for India. He stressed that the women are not only charting a fresh course for themselves but also for society at large. In his monthly radio broadcast Mann Ki Baat, the PM highlighted numerous examples of women-led initiatives from across the country. He said, 'In India, from health to social security, the country is moving ahead with the feeling of saturation in every field. This is also a great picture of social justice. These successes have instilled a belief that the coming times will make India stronger.' A vast majority of the Indian population is now benefiting from some form of social protection. Referring to a recent report by the International Labour Organization, he said, 'The report mentions that over 64% of the country's population is now definitely availing of some social protection benefit or the other. Social Security is one of the biggest coverage in the world.' He went on to say that approximately 95 crore people in the country are currently availing benefits from various social security schemes. In contrast, back in 2015, less than 25 crore people were covered. Taking a veiled swipe at the previous Congress-led government, without naming it directly, the PM remarked, 'Just a few days ago, the imposition of Emergency on the country completed its 50 years. We countrymen have observed the 'Samvidhan Hatya Diwas'. We should always remember all those people who fought the Emergency with fortitude.' During the broadcast, PM Modi also played excerpts from speeches by former PMs Morarji Desai and Atal Bihari Vajpayee, as well as former Deputy PM Jagjivan Ram, all referencing the Emergency period. Among other examples of empowerment, the he spoke of Bodoland's rise in the realm of sports. The PM also celebrated what he termed a 'remarkable milestone' — the World Health Organization (WHO) declaring India trachoma-free — and praised healthcare workers for their instrumental role. He added, 'The 'Swachh Bharat Abhiyan' helped in eradicating it. The 'Jal Jeevan Mission' also contributed a lot to this success. Today, when clean water is reaching every home through taps, the risk of such ailments has reduced.'

After the program, the Chief Minister said that the Prime Minister has inspired the countrymen with important topics like yoga, social unity, service spirit and women empowerment. The Chief Minister said that under PM Modi's leadership, India has got a distinct identity at the global level. 'The International Yoga Day, organised on June 21, once again demonstrated that yoga has made its special identity not only in India but all over the world. Our mothers, sisters, and daughters are today lending a new direction not only for themselves but for the entire society. You will also feel good when you come to know about the success of the women of Bhadrachalam in Telangana. These women once worked as labourers in the fields. They used to work hard all day for their livelihoods,' PM Modi said during the Mann ki Baat programme. The Prime Minister also spoke about how women from Karnataka's Kalaburagi have created a 'jowar' roti brand. They produce over 3,000 rotis daily through a cooperative, which are now not limited to villages but are sold in Bengaluru and via online food platforms, he said. 'The achievement of the women of Kalaburgi in Karnataka is also excellent. They have made jowar roti a brand. In the cooperative that they have formed, more than 3000 rotis are being made every day. The aroma of these rotis is no longer limited to the village. A special counter has been opened in Bengaluru. Orders are coming in over online food platforms. Kalaburgi roti is now reaching the kitchens of big cities. This has had a great impact on these women; their income is increasing,' PM Modi said. The Prime Minister also mentioned a story of 'self-confidence' and 'self-reliance' from Madhya Pradesh's Balaghat. Suma Uike, who has received training in mushroom farming and animal husbandry, joined the Self Help Group and has increased her income and also expanded her work. 'These stories from different states have different faces. But their glow is the same. This is the glow of self-confidence, of self-reliance. One such face is Suma Uike from Madhya Pradesh. Suma Ji's efforts are very commendable. She took training in mushroom farming and animal husbandry by joining the Self Help Group in Katangi block of Balaghat district. Thus, she found her path to self-reliance. When Suma Uike's income increased, she also expanded her work. This journey that started with a tiny effort has now expanded to 'Didi Canteen' and 'Thermal Therapy Centre'. In every corner of the country, countless such women are changing their fate and that of the country,' PM Modi said. (ANI)
