'This Guy Wants More Action': Once-Subfertile Preakness Winner Early Voting Offered For Free Foal-Share Matings In June
Dr. Padraig (Paddy) O'Casaigh, stallion expert and manager of the Early Voting Consortium, announced today that June was "free foal share month" for Preakness Stakes winner Early Voting, a son of leading sire Gun Runner.
O'Casaigh said that in his 40 years of international stallion reproduction work, he has never seen a more fertile horse.
"Man, I have seen a few of these guys over the years, but nothing as Fertile as Early Voting," he said. Early Voting had already got 90 percent of his mares in foal by the end of May, why waste June?"
O'Casaigh said the connections of Early Voting have agreed to breed mares for free on a foal share basis, as long as they are pedigree qualified. Early Voting stands at Taylor Made Stallions in Nicholasville, Ky.

"Mate, this guy wants more action, as we say at home," O'Casaigh said.
O'Casaigh leaves for his native home, New Zealand, on June 10 to secure a Southern Hemisphere career for his classic-winning stallion. Recognized as one of the most respected equine veterinarians internationally, O'Casaigh is confident that the current fertile performance of Early Voting will be attractive to Southern Hemisphere breeders, particularly as he will be the first stallion in that part of the world representing the Gun Runner/Tiznow/ Silken Cat/Speightstown bloodlines .
"With changing surfaces, recognition of his champion mare line on turf, and the top prices his progeny are getting is rapidly growing," O'Casaigh said. "This lovely stallion will be all the rage Down Under. With his pedigree, performance and prolific fertility, the consortium is nearly as excited as he is at 7 a.m. every morning."

Jerry Jones not confident Cowboys star Micah Parsons will play in Week 1 after trade request despite being listed as a starter
The Dallas Cowboys have released their first unofficial depth chart of the 2025 season, and defensive end Micah Parsons is listed as a starter despite his recent trade request and lagging contract negotiations. But despite that, owner Jerry Jones isn't sure that Parsons will actually be out on the field with the Cowboys for their season-opener against the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 1. "No, absolutely not," Jones said Tuesday afternoon when asked if he was confident about Parsons' status for that game, via The Athletic's Jon Machota. "A big part of that is his decision. How would I know that? I'm just saying. But I'm urgent.' He released a lengthy statement on social media this past Friday, requesting a trade from the Cowboys, who drafted him No. 12 overall in the 2021 draft. Jones said that neither he nor his people have actually spoken to Parsons or his agent since the request was made on Friday. That said, Parsons continued to show up at Cowboys practice Saturday and Monday — the team was off on Sunday — notably wearing his No. 11 jersey Monday while watching his teammates and conversing with defensive coordinator Matt Eberflus as well as vice president of player personnel Will McClay. While Parsons wrote, "I no longer want to be here," in a trade-request statement he captioned, "Thank you Dallas," on social media, the Cowboys aren't looking to trade their premier edge rusher. Though Jones was far from convincing, first-year head coach Brian Schottenheimer is planning to have the four-time Pro Bowler and three-time All-Pro available come Sept. 4. 'We're still planning on moving Micah around and putting him in all the spots that we see him and using our fronts the way we want to see it,' Schottenheimer said. 'We go about our business every day. We live in the moment. We focus in the moment. And again, like I said, I talked to you guys the other day, not going to get a lot into it. 'But I expect Micah to be here.' Parsons is in the fifth-year option of his rookie deal with the Cowboys. He won NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year in 2021, the first of his four seasons with 12-plus sacks since entering the league. The Penn State product has piled up 52.5 sacks, 256 total tackles, 112 quarterback hits and nine forced fumbles in 63 regular-season games.

Desmond Reid named to Doak Walker Award watch list
University of Pittsburgh senior running back Desmond Reid has been named to the preseason watch list for the 2025 Doak Walker Award, presented annually to the nation's most outstanding college running back by the PwC SMU Athletic Forum. Reid is among the elite backs recognized nationally after a dynamic 2024 season in which the Miami Gardens, Fla., native compiled 966 rushing yards, 579 receiving yards, 159 punt return yards, and scored touchdowns three different ways. The Doak Walker Award is named in honor of SMU legend and three-time All-American Doak Walker. Ten semifinalists will be named in November, followed by three finalists later that month. The winner will be announced live on The Home Depot College Football Awards on Dec. 12. This year's watch list features standout performers from across the country, including 2024 Doak Walker semifinalist Makhi Hughes (Oregon), Notre Dame's Jeremiyah Love, and Louisville's Isaac Brown. Reid's inclusion is another major preseason recognition for the senior running back, who has already been named to the All-ACC Team and several national award watch lists. The Walking Dead's Kelley Mack Dead at 33
Kelley Mack, whose TV credits included a recurring stint as Addy on The Walking Dead, has died at age 33 after a battle with cancer. Mack passed away Saturday in her native Cincinnati after suffering from glioma of the central nervous system (a type of tumor that starts in the brain or spinal cord), her sister Kathryn announced via Mack's Instagram: 'It is with indelible sadness that we are announcing the passing of our dear Kelley. Such a bright, fervent light has transitioned to the beyond, where we all eventually must go.'
