Chasing 167, MI New York's innings got off to a shaky start. Quinton de Kock and Michael Bracewell departed early, both failing to reach double figures within the first seven overs. Despite his fireworks, TSK managed to hold their ground until the 16th over, with the required rate still at a steep 12.5.
Then came the defining moment as Zia-ul-Haq was handed the ball, and Pollard, from the second delivery of the over, went on a rampage, 6, 4, 4, 2, 6. The over yielded 23 runs and decisively swung the game in MI New York's favour.
The rest of the chase was a formality. Pooran sealed the win with his third six, finishing unbeaten on 52 off 36, while Pollard walked off with 47 off 22, his late blitz proving the difference. MI New York, who had only managed three wins from ten league matches and had to battle through the Eliminator and Qualifier 2, had now secured their place in the final, where they will face Washington Freedom.
The loss was particularly bitter for Texas Super Kings, especially after a promising finish with the bat. Their innings had been built around Faf du Plessis, who scored a measured 59 off 42 balls while wickets tumbled around him. Smit Patel, Saiteja Mukkamalla, Shubham Ranjane, and Marcus Stoinis all fell cheaply, leaving TSK teetering at 85/5 in the 13th over.
Du Plessis' dismissal sparked an unexpected resurgence, though. Akeal Hosein and Donovan Ferreira stitched together a 81-run stand in just 45 balls. Hosein's aggressive 55 off 32 and Ferreira's 32 off 20 lifted TSK to a competitive 166/5, giving them a fighting chance.
In the end, it wasn't enough. Pollard, ably supported by Pooran, ensured MI New York completed a dramatic turnaround and marched into the final with momentum and belief firmly on their side. (ANI)

England ended the session at 98/4, with skipper Ben Stokes (2*) and Joe Root (17*) and the team leading by 98 runs. Pope was the second casualty of the day for England, falling leg-before-wicket to Mohammed Siraj for just four runs. This dismissal continued Pope's awful run in second innings of his side in Tests. In 45 innings, Pope has scored just 825 runs at an average of 19.64, with a century and two fifties, with best score of 196. Kaif reflects on India's 2002 Natwest series win, hails Gill for replicating Ganguly's
New Delhi [India], July 13 (ANI): Former Indian cricketer Mohammed Kaif on Sunday reminisced over India's Natwest tri-nation series win in England 23 years back, also recalling how the current Indian Test skipper is replicating the 'aggression and ambition' of former captain Sourav Ganguly, who captured the tri-nation series title for Men in Blue. 23 years back, phenomenal knocks from Kaif and Yuvraj Singh announced to the world the arrival of a young, attacking and a fearless Team India as they chased down 326 runs set by England during the final of the Natwest series at Lord's, which till this day remains one of India's most iconic wins ever across any format of the game. Sourav's act of going shirtless and waving it from the stadium's balcony is considered as one of the greatest moments of Indian cricket history, becoming a symbol of aggression it would adapt in years to come, even in the territories of their fiercest rivals. He had avenged a similar act done by Flintoff at Wankhede's Stadium in 2002, India's most iconic venue and in a way, the centre of Indian cricket. Reminiscing on the win, Kaif took to X and wrote, 'This July 13 is special. Dada led us to Natwest title with aggression and ambition. Now 23 years later, Shubman Gill's doing the same with his young team. And we didn't chase down 325 by playing Bazball. #natwesttrophy #Lords.' After electing to bat first, England put on 325/5 in their 50 overs. Skipper Naseer scored 115 in 128 balls, with 10 fours. He had a 185-run stand with Marcus Trescothick for the second wicket. With India at 146/5 in 24 overs, without much experience and recognised batters left in the line-up, youngsters Yuvraj and Mohammed Kaif played with responsibility and helped India cross 250 runs. Irani, Giles and Flintoff took two wickets each but India pulled off a heist, highlighting their fighting spirit and attacking game. Notably, in this England tour so far, Gill has shown flashes of his tactical brilliance, aggression and an immense hunger for runs. His marathon 269 and 161 at Birmingham helped India register their first-ever win at the venue, that too by 336 runs.
