Chhattisgarh charts ambitious 2047 growth vision to 15x GSDP, become services & IT hub
Aiming to boost its Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP) nearly 14 to 15 times by 2047, the Chhattisgarh government with NITI Aayog, has unveiled an ambitious roadmap with a sharp focus on transforming the services sector and investing in its youthful demographic.
The vision document, titled 'Chhattisgarh Anjor Vision @2047', outlines the state's contribution to India's broader aspiration of becoming a $30 trillion economy by its 100th year of independence. The roadmap rests on three pillars: economic expansion, human development, and sustainable governance.
Describing the vision document as more than just a compilation of words, the Chief Minister stated, 'This is a firm resolution and a clear roadmap toward building a self-reliant, prosperous, and developed Chhattisgarh.
Inspired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi's 'Developed India @2047' mission, this vision will guide the state to become one of India's leading developed states.'
State Finance and Planning Minister O P Choudhary elaborated on the structure and strategy of the Anjor Vision @2047, describing it as a multi-dimensional strategy for inclusive growth, governance reform, and investment promotion.
He noted the vision defines short-term (2030), medium-term (2035), and long-term (2047) goals across 13 socio-economic themes, including education, health, industry, infrastructure, logistics, agriculture, forest produce, investment, skills, IT & AI, tourism, culture, environmental conservation, and sustainability.

'The vision includes over 200 proposed initiatives, backed by measurable indicators and policy frameworks, to ensure effective monitoring and implementation. It aims to double the state economy in the next five years, grow GDP 15-fold by 2047, and increase per capita income tenfold. Plans include the creation of 5,000+ smart villages, 10+ smart cities, and positioning Chhattisgarh as a leading IT hub,' Choudhary said.
Tripling the Services Sector
Currently, Chhattisgarh's economy is driven primarily by the industrial sector, which accounts for 45% of its GDP, followed by services (35%) and agriculture (20%). The new plan seeks to increase the services sector's contribution from 35% to 50% by 2047, identifying it as the engine for future growth.
Key proposals include rapid expansion of digital infrastructure, promotion of IT and AI-driven industries, and leveraging healthcare and education tourism.
Plans are underway to generate over 10,000 jobs in IT services, establish AI data centers, and invest in logistics and tourism development.
An excerpt from the report notes: 'The services sector is expected to expand rapidly, driven by growth in information technology, logistics, and tourism.'
A Youth-Driven Economy
With 41% of Chhattisgarh's population under 18, the report identifies youth as central to the development agenda.
Emphasis has been placed on higher education, vocational training, and youth empowerment. By 2025, premier institutions such as NIFT, NFSU, and NIELIT are expected to begin operations in the state, joining existing centers like IIT, IIM, AIIMS, and NIT.
In the longer term, the state aspires to attract institutes such as IISc, IISER, SPA, and NIPER, further strengthening its academic ecosystem.
Manufacturing Backbone and Infrastructure Push
While services are set to expand, the industrial sector will remain a cornerstone of the economy.
The state is a leading national producer of steel, cement, aluminum, and key minerals like coal and iron ore. Chhattisgarh alone contributes 30% of India's iron and steel, 20% of aluminum, and 12% of cement output.
However, the state continues to face infrastructure bottlenecks. As a landlocked region, lack of port access and low railway density remain challenges. Its road density (71 km per 100 sq. km) lags behind the national average (139 km).
To overcome this, the report advocates for multi-modal logistics corridors, new railway lines, and upgrading Raipur airport into an international hub.
Health, Happiness, and Sustainability
The document dedicates a major section to human development under the banner 'Swasth aur Sukhi Chhattisgarh' (Healthy and Happy Chhattisgarh). Key health targets include reducing infant mortality from 38 to below 5, and increasing life expectancy from 65 to 84 years by 2047.
The roadmap also emphasizes revitalizing tribal economies through sustainable use of the state's 44% forest cover. Proposed measures include promoting herbal farming, bamboo and honey clusters, and experiential tribal tourism—particularly around non-timber forest products (NTFPs).
The Road Ahead
To achieve the projected GSDP of Rs 76–78 lakh crore by 2047 (from the current ₹5.67 lakh crore), Chhattisgarh must double its economy four times in 23 years, maintaining an average annual growth of 12–13%.

BJP accuses Rahul Gandhi of making ‘immature' comments against Armed Forces
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Monday stated that Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi's credibility is at stake, citing the Supreme Court's remarks during the hearing of a criminal defamation case related to his December 2022 comments on Indo-China border tensions. At a press conference, BJP spokesperson Gaurav Bhatia said: 'Such immature, anti-Army, and demoralising statements made without any evidence or facts, especially when our Army was engaged in the Galwan incident, raise serious questions. Why does Rahul Gandhi make such statements? This is a big question. And it is a question about his credibility.' 'The question arises: Does India deserve a more responsible and better Leader of Opposition? As a Leader of the Opposition, who has taken an oath under the Constitution to safeguard the sovereignty of our country, is he destroying that very sovereignty? ...is he helping the nations which are inimical to our country? Is he demoralising the brave Indian armed forces?' the BJP leader asked. Quoting the Supreme Court's remarks, Mr. Bhatia alleged that this was not the first time Mr. Gandhi had displayed 'such an anti-India' mindset. He referred to another defamation case involving comments by the Congress leader about V.D. Savarkar. 'We all know that the commission-hungry Congress failed to procure Rafale jets for 10 years. Prime Minister Narendra Modi made sure that the Air Force received these aircraft. Displaying similar immaturity, Rahul Gandhi used inappropriate language for the Prime Minister. Subsequently, the Supreme Court's decision affirmed that the addition of Rafale jets strengthened the Air Force and was in India's national interest,' Mr. Bhatia added.

Despite Trump's 25% Tariff, How India Still Beats Pakistan, Bangladesh On Trade Balance
New Delhi: Even as U.S. tariffs on Indian goods climb to 25 percent, the numbers tell a more layered story. Despite the blow, India still holds a stronger position in trade dynamics than some of its closest neighbours. In 2024, Indian products entering the American market faced an average effective tariff of 17.4 percent. That is lower than the 19.9 percent slapped on Bangladeshi goods, the 18.1 percent faced by Pakistan and Sri Lanka's 19.2 percent. These figures come from a recent analysis by Moneycontrol that measured the effective duties levied by the United States on major South Asian exporters. U.S. President Donald Trump, who reimposed tough trade penalties last month, had pointed fingers at India in a strongly worded post on July 30. 'Remember, while India is our friend, we have, over the years, done relatively little business with them because their tariffs are far too high, among the highest in the world. They have the most strenuous and obnoxious non-monetary trade barriers of any country… INDIA WILL THEREFORE BE PAYING A TARIFF OF 25%, PLUS A PENALTY FOR THE ABOVE, STARTING ON AUGUST FIRST,' he wrote on Truth Social. However, data on what economists call the tariff differential, the gap between what a country pays in U.S. tariffs versus what it charges on American imports, suggests India's trade relationship with Washington remains more balanced than many others in the region. India's tariff differential currently stands at 11.3 percentage points. That is significantly narrower than Bangladesh's 17.2-point gap or Pakistan's 13.6 points. Another regional exporter, Vietnam faces a 13-point spread. Bangladesh's position appears the most lopsided: its exports are hit by the highest U.S. tariffs, but it barely charges American goods in return. Meanwhile, India maintains an average 6.1 percent tariff on U.S. imports, more than Bangladesh but less than others, offering a cushion against the recent spike from Washington. Neighbouring Asian countries such as Thailand and the Philippines fare slightly better in terms of tariff balance, with gaps at 6.4 and 9.8 points respectively. But their trade mix is different, heavily skewed towards electronics and intermediate goods. India's exports to the United States, on the other hand, lean heavily on pharmaceuticals, garments, jewellery and consumer products. These sectors are more vulnerable to tariff hikes. While India's trade ties with Washington remain under strain, the data reflects that it may still be navigating the turbulence more stably than its regional peers.

Donald Trump calls Taylor Swift 'no longer hot' while praising Sydney Sweeney's American Eagle ad
Taylor Swift Dragged into Sydney Sweeney Ad Drama as Trump Says She's Not 'Hot' Anymore. (Image-X) You'd think a jeans commercial wouldn't be political warfare, but here we are. What started as a cheeky American Eagle campaign featuring Euphoria star Sydney Sweeney has spiraled into an unexpected culture war with Taylor Swift caught in the crossfire. The moment the words 'great jeans' turned into a thinly veiled pun about genetics, the internet exploded. And then came Donald Trump , calling Sweeney 'hot,' dragging Taylor as 'no longer hot,' and turning what should've been a harmless denim moment into a full-on GOP-vs-Swift spectacle. Trump calls Sydney Sweeney 'hot' and Taylor Swift 'no longer hot' for the American Eagle ad drama American Eagle's new campaign featuring Sydney Sweeney was all about wordplay: 'Sydney Sweeney has great jeans,' with the word genes crossed out in classic handwritten rebel font. But what was meant to be flirty and fun got dragged on social media for echoing eugenic undertones. Critics online pointed out how the ad seemed to elevate a very specific standard of beauty, white, blonde, blue-eyed and combined with genetics talk, things got uncomfortable real fast. Then Donald Trump got involved, and chaos officially began. After finding out Sydney is a registered Republican, Trump went straight to Truth Social and posted: 'Sydney Sweeney, a registered Republican, has the HOTTEST ad out there. It's for American Eagle, and the jeans are flying off the shelves. Go get 'em Sydney!' He followed it up with, 'Being WOKE is for losers. Being Republican is what you want to be.' He even took the opportunity to bash Jaguar or any company that doesn't align with his vibe. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Bo Derek's Probably The Most Gorgeous 68-Year-Old. Paperela Undo But the most unexpected moment? Trump deciding to take a swipe at Taylor Swift out of nowhere. Trump randomly veered into pop star territory, taking a direct shot at Swift's popularity. He said: 'She was booed out of the Super Bowl and became NO LONGER HOT .' Cue the record scratch. The attack felt wildly out of place, especially since Taylor had nothing to do with the jeans ad but that didn't stop Trump from making it political. With Swift being vocal about progressive causes and her support for Biden, it's clear she's the go-to 'woke celeb' target for conservative outrage. So when Sweeney got the Republican stamp of approval, Swift naturally got the backhanded burn. This isn't the first time Trump's taken jabs at Taylor, but calling her 'no longer hot' while praising Sweeney as the new conservative darling? That's petty on a whole new level. American Eagle's stock soared nearly 24%, because of course controversy sells. Right-wing pundits like Megyn Kelly and Ted Cruz jumped in to praise Sweeney's 'anti-woke energy,' while left-leaning critics continued dragging the brand for 'objectifying' women and playing with dangerous cultural symbolism.
