Dhruvi Acharya's landmark solo exhibition at Hampi Art Labs
The Journey is Home, a significant solo exhibition by acclaimed contemporary artist Dhruvi Acharya, which began on June 1, at Hampi Art Labs in Toranagallu, Ballari district, will be on display till September 30th, 2025.
The JSW Foundation, the social development arm of the $24 billion JSW Group and host of the exhibition, stated that The Journey is Home, curated by noted art critic Girish Shahane, features an expansive collection of Dhruvi Acharya's works, ranging from her early creations to more recent pieces. It delves into a deeply personal exploration of identity, motherhood, environmental awareness, grief, and the complexities of urban life. Dhruvi Acharya's art, rooted in autobiography, often connects with larger, universal subjects.
The exhibition's title is inspired by a poem by the Japanese author and Zen practitioner Matsuo Basho, reflecting Dhruvi Acharya's early interest in Buddhist philosophy. Her work is known to explore the psychological and emotional musings of a woman.
The exhibition also features key works from the JSW collection.
Sangita Jindal, chairperson of the JSW Foundation, expressed her enthusiasm for the show. 'I see hope and resilience in Dhruvi Acharya's layered works, which often reflect the psychological and emotional musings of a woman. I am delighted that Hampi Art Labs is hosting a solo show by Dhruvi, an artist I have long admired.'
Describing the exhibition as a mid-career survey, Dhruvi Acharya said, 'The show includes work from various stages of my journey, including those commissioned or acquired by Sangita Jindal over the last 25 years. These pieces reflect my investigations into memory, love, loss, motherhood, the status of women in society, and the deteriorating environment. I am grateful to Hampi Art Labs and JSW Foundation for providing a space where these stories can breathe and resonate.'
Located near the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Hampi, Hampi Art Labs spans nine acres and serves as a cultural retreat offering studio spaces, galleries, artist residencies, and educational programmes. Rooted in the region's rich artistic and architectural heritage, the centre is a vital cultural initiative of the JSW Foundation.
The Journey is Home is open to the public from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., from Monday to Friday, offering visitors a unique opportunity to engage with one of India's most thoughtful and introspective contemporary artists in an inspiring setting.

As China watches, the Dalai Lama suggests institution of Tibetan spiritual leader will continue
The Dalai Lama, who will turn 90 on July 6, hinted Monday that the institution of the Tibetan spiritual leader will continue, and there will be 'some kind of a framework'. The week-long birthday celebrations to mark the Dalai Lama's 90th birthday kicked off Monday. A Buddhist religious conference will take place from July 2 to July 4 in McLeodganj in Himachal Pradesh's Dharamshala. The religious conference is being held for the first time since 2019. Over 100 Tibetan Buddhist spiritual leaders will attend the conference, and the Dalai Lama will also release a video statement. Hollywood actor Richard Gere, an ardent follower of Tibetan Buddhism, is also likely to attend this conference. It is widely speculated that the Dalai Lama might announce his successor in the coming days, and whether the institution of the Dalai Lama should continue following the old procedures of reincarnation. The Dalai Lama has said his successor will be born outside of China in a 'free world'. In his first public address, on the day his birthday celebrations began, the Dalai Lama said, 'There will be some kind of framework within which we can talk about the continuation of the institution of the Dalai Lamas'. 'On this 90th birthday, though I am 90 years old, I am physically very healthy. Throughout all these years, for the good of the Tibetans, Dharma, and other people and I have had a great relationship with people around the world… It has been really fruitful for me so far in my life,' said the spiritual leader. 'I have been to other countries, East, West, North, South, where I have found so many people who admire me. So, this human life that I have now has been of quite a benefit to the people of the world. So, the rest of my life I would dedicate to the benefit of others as much as possible, as extensively as possible,' he added. Dalai Lama will also address the people on his birthday. Thupten Ngodup, Tibet's chief state oracle, said, 'Typically, such discussions on the reincarnation do not take place when a monk is still alive, but things are different now, mainly because the Chinese government is interfering'. In March this year, Beijing said the Dalai Lama was a political exile who had 'no right to represent the Tibetan people at all'. Speaking at Monday's event, Dolma Tsering Teykhang, the deputy speaker of the Tibetan parliament-in-exile in Dharamshala, said, 'It was important for the world to hear directly from the Dalai Lama on the issue because while China tries to vilify him at every chance. It [China] is trying to frame rules and regulations on how to have the reincarnation of the Dalai Lama in their hand'. 'China is trying to grab this institution for its political purpose. We want the incarnation of the Dalai Lama to be born not only for the survival of Tibet as a distinct culture, religion and nation, but also for the well-being of the whole humanity,' Dolma said. On July 6, the day Dalai Lama turns 90, Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju, Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu, Sikkim's Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang; Tashi Gyalson, Chief Executive Councillor (CEC), Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council, and Karnataka's Home Minister Gangadharaiah Parameshwara will also attend the celebration event in McLeodganj. They will also address the gathering.

Last Updated: Princess Kako of Japan is seen entering the flight alongside other officials who accompanied her for a visit to Brazil. Humility never goes unnoticed, and a viral clip of Princess Kako of Japan is a perfect example. The video shows the royal travelling on an economy flight, despite her imperial status and close ties to Emperor Naruhito, her uncle. According to reports, Princess Kako had visited four different locations prior to boarding and, visibly exhausted, was seen sleeping during the flight. The footage quickly drew praise online, with many applauding her down-to-earth nature. According to a report in the South China Morning Post, the princess was in Brazil to attend the public events on the occasion of the 130th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries. Initially, in the clip, she is seen entering the flight alongside other officials who accompanied her for a visit to the South American nation. After the lights were turned off, she fell asleep against the window of the domestic flight – a moment that has captured the Internet's heart. 🇯🇵🇧🇷It has been on viral for #Japan 's Princess Kako of Akishino who made her official visit to #Brazil. The Princess was seen travelling in a commercial flight from São Paulo to Campo Grande. She was among her followers and other passengers in the flight.… — Royal World Thailand 🇹🇭 (@rwthofficial) June 18, 2025 Soon after the video gained momentum, social media users shared their reaction in the comments section, with one of them writing, 'She looked like a porcelain doll. It is completely understandable to feel tired with such a packed schedule." Another added, 'People love seeing her. The video shows how humble she is." While social media users had only praises for the princess who fell asleep soon after taking her seat, the Imperial Household Agency (IHA) expressed disappointment at the invasion of privacy. FYI, IHA is responsible for looking after royal affairs. Princess Kako stepped into the spotlight after her elder sister Princess Mako gave her royal title and left the imperial family in 2021 to marry her college sweetheart. After the latter relocated to New York, Kako took on a more public role, often travelling nationally and internationally to represent her royal household. Outside of her official role, she is admired for her grace and dedication. Japanese media often describe her as 'the hope of Japan." During one of her public addresses, she also candidly admitted to having a short temper, which she says is her biggest flaw.
