Elsa Pataky reveals secret to her 15-year marriage with Chris Hemsworth - as she admits there have been 'rough patches'

Daily Mail29-04-2025
Elsa Pataky has revealed the secret behind her marriage to Chris Hemsworth - admitting how the couple have worked through 'rough patches'.
It was love at first sight for the Spanish actress, 48, and her superstar husband, 41, when they were introduced in early 2010.
By the end of that same year, they had tied the knot and the couple are still going strong 15 years later, living a 'constant holiday' at their sprawling mansion in Byron Bay, Australia.
And now, the glamorous Elsa has revealed the secret behind her happy marriage to the Thor actor.
Speaking in HELLO! Magazine, the 48-year-old said: 'Marriage needs constant work, and you learn a lot from the rough patches.
'You have to try and keep growing together, making sure that your paths carry on crossing.
'It's about finding the fun, enjoying the little moments and remaining curious about each other. You have to be ready to adapt, and because there are situations that separate you, you need to know how to find each other again.'
Elsa and Chris moved back to the male A-lister's home country of Australia around 2015 after living in Los Angeles, which they said was 'too suffocating'.
The couple bought their east coast mansion down under a year earlier for $7million, eventually completing a $50million construction on the site in 2021.
The property features six bedrooms, a spa, games and media rooms as well as sprawling outdoor living areas.
'When you're in Los Angeles, work suffocates you,' Elsa previously told News Corp.
'There, all the conversations, even the billboards you see on the street, have to do with the world of cinema and its industry.
'It can make you lose perspective'.
It was a sentiment that Chris shared in an interview with Modern Luxury back in 2020.
'I love what I do as an actor, but when you are surrounded by it constantly, it becomes a bit suffocating' he said.
'It's nice to have conversations with people and be a part of a community that doesn't live and breathe that world.'
The 'down-to-earth' couple have three children together - twins Tristan and Sasha, both 11, and 13-year-old India.
They spend much of their time playing sports, with Chris taking his two sons surfing and Elsa teaching India how to ride horses.
Prior to their move to down under, Elsa actually told Chris that she would only agree to relocate if they lived on a farm where she could ride horses.
'That was my deal,' she said - and Elsa got her wish.
On Tuesday, in fact, the actress stunned fans by sharing footage of her almost falling from a horse while riding through the New South Wales bushland with her daughter.
The social media post showed the pair losing control of their horses, leaving Elsa on the brink of falling into shallow waters.
The mum and daughter saw the funny side of the mishap, nevertheless, and were heard laughing at the end of the video.
Despite such fun, however, Elsa admitted that bringing up her children can be 'exhausting'.
'You can feel exhausted physically, but when they get older, it's more psychological,' she said.
Elsa added that she has tried meditating in order to improve her patience since having children.

Chris Hughes takes his relationship with JoJo Siwa to the next level as he shares MAJOR sign he is part of the family during trip to her home in LA after couple reunited

Earlier this week, Chris, 32, flew across the Atlantic to reunite with JoJo, 22, and he couldn't hide his love for her during the tip. The couple were previously spotted holding hands as they left The NOW Massage parlour together, with Chris treating her to a massage. And on Saturday night, he further showed his obsession for JoJo as he posted a snap on social media and made it clear the family have fully taken him in already. The former Love Island star shared a snap of framed picture set up in the family home which showed the lovebirds hugging, alongside snaps of the Dance Moms star's family. It was placed next to other photos of her loved ones, suggesting that her parents approve of their romance - and that they are fond of Chris. Earlier on in the night, Chris made himself at home as he enjoyed a takeaway with her nearest and dearest. On his Story, he tagged JoJo's mum Jessalynn alongside some delicious food they had eaten. A few slides after, and he was posing with JoJo's family pooch, sharing a black-and-white snap with his followers. Insinuating that he doesn't want to leave, he wrote: 'Had the best few days. It's so beautiful here.' On Monday, the loved-up pair couldn't keep their hands off each othe r, with Chris gushing that he's 'in love' with JoJo, before calling her his 'princess.' He said: 'I am really in love with this one.' Grilled on his recent admission that he's already thought about marrying JoJo, Chris added: 'One day, I am a proper family man so one day! Yeah 100% that's the fairytale right? She is my princess, she is a good one.' It certainly wasn't a showbiz relationship anyone saw coming, and when the former Love Island star and the former Dance Moms star met, JoJo was in a relationship with her ex partner Kath Ebbs. Confirming on CBB that she identifies as queer, she has openly discussed how Chris is her first relationship with a man. Speaking to The Sun's Fabulous Magazine, Chris hit back at accusations their relationship is fake, as he admitted: 'I've had more people call me 'gay' in the last two months of my life than ever before. But it doesn't bother me – as long as people aren't nasty, opinions are fine.' He revealed even he was surprised by the turn of events, and after a string of public relationships, he began to wonder whether there was anyone out there for him. He explained: 'Then meeting Joelle gave me this magical feeling. She is the most precious person... I'm obsessed with her. I'd do anything for her.' The star confessed the 10-year age gap doesn't phase him as you can't help who you fall in love with. And while it has only been a matter of months Chris can already see the relationship going the full way and believes it is forever. Discussing the prospect of marriage after confessing they both say 'I love you' every day, he hinted: 'I do see a forever here... I'd love to marry her. I'd be lying if I didn't tell you I run through scenarios of our wedding day.' He also revealed they both want children and he has received the seal of approval from her family after joining them on their Orlando holiday in May.

Newport pub The Tickled Trout is city's best kept secret

It looks rather unassuming, but upon stepping through the doors I am greeted with warmth from managers Poppy Morgan, 29, and Lesley Davies, 36. The pair took over the pub not too long ago, turning it from a tired Spanish tapas bar to somewhere that you can take part in a leisurely lunch, a drink over a boardgame, or even a 'Taylor Swift cake decorating class' – I'm promised that these themed classes are extremely popular and not as strange as they sound at first. Poppy and Lesley have turned the Tickled Trout into a place for everyone (Image: Supplied) It has a cozy atmosphere and the welcome from the staff on duty is incomparable – it feels like they truly care about this venue and want customers to care too. Strictly speaking, The Tickled Trout is not a really a pub - it's in the no-man's land between restaurant and bar, but this doesn't bother them one bit. The people are Newport are beginning to love the Tickled Trout, as are customers from further afield. Poppy and Lesley detail how just last week they had a customer travel to visit all the way from Oxford, and they couldn't speak highly enough of the relaxed and cosy atmosphere of the pub. With five separate food menus to choose from, there is something on offer for everyone. The Tickled Trout has aimed to redefine traditional Spanish tapas to include flavours from across the globe, changing customers' perceptions on what they already know of the small dish options. It creates an inclusive dining experience and ensures that everyone is catered for with no risk. Lesley said: 'We get a lot of praise for our vegan menu. 'We get the ingredients in fresh every day, and our chefs create the dishes from scratch. Rather than buy pre-made sauce mixes, all our aioli's and anything else we use and serve is made from scratch.' Poppy laughs: 'We get everyone in for bottomless brunch, from the 18-year-olds who drink actual cocktails to the older ladies who usually prefer a glass of prosecco.' Lesley said: 'People usually go to a bottomless brunch and expect either good food, or good cocktails. We're proud that with us you get both.'
