Jannik Sinner's Wimbledon win wasn't just about powerful serves and picture-perfect forehands, it was a true masterclass in mental toughness. Facing Carlos Alcaraz in the final was already a huge task, but doing it just weeks after that heartbreaking loss to the same guy at the French Open? That takes something special.

And, Andy Roddick couldn't agree more. He's calling Sinner's run exactly what it is: a redemption story worth celebrating. Because bouncing back like that when every doubt and what-if is hanging over you is the kind of thing that makes champions stand out.
Speaking about the Wimbledon final on his YouTube channel, Roddick praised Sinner for his resilience. He said, 'You can talk about how you've moved on from Roland Garros. That scar tissue doesn't go away just because you want it to, right? overcoming that mental scar tissue especially in that fourth set was just an amazing amazing display of grit belief and will ultimately you know be the redemption story.'
Over the past two years, Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz have built a rivalry that's quickly becoming must-see tennis and the Wimbledon final was the latest proof. With the old Big Three era fading, these two are filling that gap with top tier tennis and contrasting styles: Alcaraz's flashy shot-making against Sinner's ice-cold consistency.

Alcaraz looked ready for another comeback after snatching the first set with a crazy backhand winner, but Sinner stayed rock solid.

In the fourth set, when he was staring down 15-40 in the eighth game of the 4th set, he dug deep, turned it around, and held. That mental strength sealed the win. A massive statement from Sinner that he can compete and more importantly win against Alcaraz on the biggest stage.

Argyle 'working hard' to bring in new striker

Plymouth Argyle head coach Tom Cleverley says the club is "working hard" to bring in an experienced centre forward. With Ryan Hardie and Mustapha Bundu having left the club over the summer, the Pilgrims' attacking options are limited. Argyle have signed youngsters Bim Pepple and Owen Aseni, while wide players Jamie Paterson and Xavier Amaechi have also joined the club in the current transfer window. "We all want those deals to be done as quick as possible," Cleverley told BBC Radio Devon. "Now it's important that you don't bring the wrong one in, just because he's there to do. "There's a premium price on League One strikers and people who can score goals at this level. "We're working really hard and I'm confident we'll see one come in in the next 10 days."

Mikel Arteta says ‘100 percent' when asked if Arsenal followed correct process over Thomas Partey

Mikel Arteta says he is '100 percent' that Arsenal followed the correct processes regarding Thomas Partey, who since leaving the club has been charged with serious sexual offences. Four days after leaving Arsenal upon the expiration of his contract, 32-year-old Partey was charged with five counts of rape and one count of sexual assault. Partey, who denies all the charges against him, will now appear at Westminster Magistrates Court on Tuesday, August 5. Advertisement When previously contacted by The Athletic about the charges, Arsenal issued the following statement: 'The player's contract ended on 30 June. Due to ongoing legal proceedings the club is unable to comment on the case.' Asked by The Athletic about the charges Partey faces, and whether they were a consideration in the decision not to extend his contract, Arteta said: 'The club was very clear in its statement. There are a lot of legal matters that are very complicated so I cannot comment on any of that.' Arteta was then asked whether he was comfortable and confident that the club had followed the correct processes regarding the matter, and responded: '100 percent, yes.' Partey made 167 appearances for Arsenal after joining from Atletico Madrid in a €50million (now £42.7m; $57.3m) transfer in October 2020. A Ghana international, he has 51 caps for his country, including featuring at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

What is next for Oleksandr Usyk and Daniel Dubois?

Oleksandr Usyk is once again undisputed world heavyweight champion after Saturday's devastating fifth-round stoppage of Daniel Dubois at Wembley. Usyk sent Dubois to the canvas with a vicious left-handed punch titled Ivan to win back his IBF belt and add it to his WBA, WBC and WBO titles. Here, the PA news agency takes a look at what next for Usyk and what this result means for the blue-riband division. Where does this leave Dubois? Briton's Dubois is back in familiar territory and required to rebuild his career. The 27-year-old has managed it twice before after his shock loss to Joe Joyce in 2020 and his first defeat to Usyk two years ago. Frank Warren confirmed his fighter will not return for at least six months and a domestic affair with the likes of Derek Chisora or Dillian Whyte seems most likely at this point. So, who is next for Usyk? Usyk proceeded to namecheck Chisora, Tyson Fury, Anthony Joshua and Joseph Parker in the ring immediately as potential opponents after Saturday's 24th victory of his undefeated professional career. The WBO has already implied that Usyk must next defend that belt against Parker. If Usyk, who has suggested his next fight would be his last, was to prefer a trilogy with Fury, he would have to vacate his WBO title and lose undisputed status again. Is Fury ready for another shot at Usyk? Fury wasted no time calling out Usyk after his victory as the 'Gypsy King' posted an Instagram video in the early hours of Sunday morning on a run. Fury retired after he lost to Usyk for a second time last December, but maintains he won those bouts and has already revealed he will return to the ring in 2026. Queensberry promoter Warren says Fury would love to fight Usyk at Wembley so it is all eyes on what the Ukrainian decides. No Fury vs AJ then? If Usyk does decide to fight Parker next, it would open the door for a long overdue Battle of Britain between Fury and Joshua. Whilst the duo no longer boast the status as world heavyweight champion, it is a contest that would draw huge interest and comfortably sell-out at Wembley. Joshua has been linked with a fight against YouTuber-turned-boxer Jake Paul, but the best way to add to his legacy would be to take on compatriot Fury – even if it should have happened years earlier. Best of the rest One of the next eye-catching fights in the division will see highly-rated Moses Itauma do battle with journeyman Whyte on August 16. Itauma, a 20-year-old southpaw, has 10 knock-outs from 12 wins and is widely regarded as the future of heavyweight boxing. Saudi boxing chief Turki Alalshikh called for Itauma to fight Usyk on Saturday night. It feels too early for Itauma, but he is an option for Usyk along with Germany's Agit Kabayel, who is WBC mandatory, and WBA Regular champion Kubrat Pulev.
