Her death was announced Thursday by her friend and publicist, Ron Roberts, who did not immediately provide additional details.
Francis was a top performer of the pre-Beatles era, rarely off the charts from 1957-64. Able to appeal to both young people and adults, she had more than a dozen top 20 hits, starting with 'Who's Sorry Now?' and including the No. 1 songs 'Don't Break the Heart That Loves You' and 'The Heart Has a Mind of Its Own.' Like other teen favorites of her time, she also starred in several films, including 'Where the Boys Are' and 'Follow the Boys.'

CC Sabathia and his family have a bumpy ride to Cooperstown
COOPERSTOWN, NY (AP) — For CC Sabathia, getting elected into the Baseball Hall of Fame was much easier than actually getting to the Hall of Fame. Sabathia, whose career spanned 19 seasons with the Cleveland Indians, Milwaukee Brewers and New York Yankees, was voted in on his first year of eligibility. Getting to Cooperstown for Hall of Fame weekend activities to be capped by his induction Sunday proved a tad more difficult. 'It was an adventure,' Sabathia said Saturday. Sabathia, wife Amber and their four children left their Alpine, New Jersey, home at about 4 p.m. Thursday. They traveled in two vehicles as is their family custom and were about 75 miles (120 kilometers) into their 177-mile trip when things got interesting. 'We stopped to get food. Everything's going great,' Sabathia said. 'We tried to get on the on-ramp on (Route) 17 and the car just stopped. I was behind her (Amber). Most of the time when we're driving, I'm gone. I'm never driving behind her, but for some reason I was taking my time riding behind her.' Sabathia had a clear view of what was happening. They called for assistance. The family piled into Sabathia's car and returned home to grab another vehicle as a tow truck towed their broken-down Escalade back to Alpine. The Sabathias arrived in Cooperstown at about midnight. I was taking pictures. My kids were doing TikToks and Amber was in the back like the super serious person she is getting everything done,' Sabathia said. 'People were honking at us and recognizing us on the side of the road. It was fun for us. 'For her it was a nightmare.' Disney showed off several minutes of footage, including a light cycle chase scene in the real world and another in the red-hued Grid. Propelling the onscreen action is a propulsive Nine Inch Nails soundtrack. 'It's fun to see it on the big screen for the first time,' said director Joachim Rønning. Disney turned the Hall H panel into a spectacle, with red lasers filling the room and characters in suits with red lights entering the massive hall. Leto spoke affectionately about the original saying: 'This movie just grabbed a hold of me and took me to a place that I'd never been before. It kind of rattled my imagination and it kind of showed me what was possible in the world.' He praised Bridges and Steven Lisberger, who created 'Tron' and directed the 1982 original. Lisberger attended Friday's panel and laid out his case for why the franchise remains relevant. 'My feeling about 'Tron' is that the most important thing is we kick this technology around artistically before it kicks us around,' Lisberger said. 'I am weary about hearing all the grim news about the future,' he said, and the way he thinks it can be avoided is to 'inspire young people what can be done with this technology.' Friday's panel ended with the premiere of the music video for 'As Alive as You Need Me to Be,' the first Nine Inch Nails song from the soundtrack. 'Tron' has never been in the top tier of sci-fi franchises. The original 1982 film starring Bridges as Kevin Flynn, a man sucked into a computer vortex known as the Grid, was admired for its ground-breaking concept and effects, and was a modest hit with moderately good reviews. Perhaps more importantly, it won a cult following and has been maintained enough in cultural memory to remain a valuable property for Disney. The 2010 film 'Tron: Legacy,' starring Bridges and Garrett Hedlund, made more than $400 million globally. A TV show that followed, 'Tron: Uprising,' lasted just one season. Rønning has helmed other Disney franchise films: 2017's 'Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales' and 2019's 'Maleficent: Mistress of Evil.' The Norweigan director said he was interested because he dreamed about making a sci-fi film and enjoyed the twist of 'Ares' bringing the Grid into the real world. Comic-Con goes interstellar with ‘Project Hail Mary,' ‘Star Trek' updates
SAN DIEGO (AP) — Comic-Con is headed to space for its third day. Saturday's biggest presentations at the pop culture extravaganza will be for 'Project Hail Mary,' which stars Ryan Gosling on an interstellar mission to save humanity, and for the next series in the 'Star Trek' franchise. Fans are also getting a sneak peek at 'Coyote vs. ACME,' a hybrid live-action and animated project that was shelved by Warner Bros. in a cost-cutting move but will get a theatrical release in 2026. The movie features John Cena, who is also a star of the DC series 'Peacemaker,' which will have a presentation Saturday in Comic-Con's massive Hall H. 'Project Hail Mary' is an adaptation of the book by Martin Weir, whose book 'The Martian' was adapted by Ridley Scott in 2015. An estimated 135,000 people — many in costumes — are expected to attend Comic-Con 2025, which runs through Sunday in downtown San Diego. So far, fans have gotten previews of 'Five Nights at Freddy's 2,' the upcoming FX series 'Alien: Earth' and 'Predator: Badlands,' which will be in theaters in November. 'Coyote vs. Acme' coming to theaters in August 2026 Wile E. Coyote is getting his day in court – and theaters. The stars of 'Coyote vs. Acme' delivered a rousing presentation of a movie that at one point wasn't going to be released. The underdog story – both of the movie and Coyote – was a running theme of the panel. But rather than direct ire at Warner Bros., the real-world studio that shelved the project, the panel focused on the fictional Acme Corp. 'This is purely an Acme decision … and I am saying this for legal purposes,' moderator Paul Scheer said at the start of the panel. The movie is a hybrid of animation and live action and is based on a 1990 New Yorker article that satirized a legal complaint filed by Coyote against Acme, the maker of the TNT, detonators, rocket shoes, catapults and other products that consistently backfire during the Coyote's fruitless attempts to catch the Roadrunner. Laughter filled Hall H, the massive 6,000-seat venue as fans watched a montage of Coyote being blown up, flattened and falling into chasms in a scene set to Johnny Cash's cover of 'Hurt.' Coyote is replaying the moments in his lair when an ad for a personal injury lawyer appears on TV. Monday Mornings The latest local business news and a lookahead to the coming week. They also played six minutes of the movie, including a scene of opening statements in the case in which Coyote's lawyer, Will Forte, accidentally unleashes a rocket skate into the courtroom, setting Coyote and the judge's robes on fire. John Cena plays a slick Acme lawyer who wins over the jury, which includes a cartoon character, quickly. Forte said he didn't think the movie would ever get to audiences. 'I'm pretty speechless. You think back to the journey that this movie has taken. I had kind of given up hope at a certain point,' Forte said. At one point, his comments were interrupted by a man playing an Acme lawyer who stormed into Hall H with cease-and-desist letters. Director Dave Green said the movie conforms to famed animator Chuck Jones' rules for the struggle between the Coyote and Roadrunner, which include the bird always staying on the road and the Coyote being ultimately more humiliated than hurt when he falls, is crushed or gets blown up by TNT. The movie, which features cameos from numerous Looney Tunes characters like Foghorn Leghorn, Tweety and Bugs Bunny, will be released on Aug. 28, 2026. Ketchup Entertainment teamed up with Warner Bros. on the film and in the release of 'The Day the Earth Blew Up: A Looney Tunes Movie.'
