Liam Payne's girlfriend Kate Cassidy breaks down in tears in emotional ITV Lorraine scenes

Yahoo05-03-2025
Liam Payne's girlfriend Kate Cassidy broke down in tears this morning and admitted she is "still working on accepting" his death during a conversation with Lorraine.
Liam, 31, died last October after he fell three floors from his hotel balcony in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
Kate has now shared her feelings five months on, along with the final moments she spent with the Wolverhampton-born singer-songwriter.

In the highly-emotional interview, Kate said she's "still working on accepting the fact that he's not here anymore," explaining: "It's hard for me to refer to him in the past tense, and when I do refer to him in the past tense it almost stings that little bit more because… it just … it's more official."
Kate explained the significance of the necklace she was wearing, saying: "It actually is angel wings, I saw it in a little gift shop a couple of weeks ago and I feel like it spoke to me and matches my angel wing tattoos. I wear it quite often and it once again makes me feel closer to Liam."
Liam had travelled to the Argentinian capital with Kate to attend a performance from his former bandmate Niall Horan, with the 25-year-old influencer flying back to the US just days before Payne's death.
"I've never lost anybody close to me before," Kate said, "so this is my first time dealing with anything like this and going through this grief and healing journey.
"He has impacted so many people in this world and I know I'm not alone in this, so many other people are grieving. It shows how much of an impact he had on people's lives.
"He would light up any room he walked into and he had this sense of humour where he could make anything better and his presence was just comforting and warming and that is something I will never forget about him, ever."
Kate is now part of the March4March campaign, designed to motivate people to take a stroll and boost their mental health.
It was actually the number four that drew Kate to the organisation to begin with, saying: "For people that aren't familiar with the number four, it's mine and Liam's angel number which symbolises support and guidance from your angels, and I genuinely believe that Liam guided me to this campaign and wanted me to be involved in this to help other people. It's something that he wanted me to do."

Catch this Bay Area Grammy nominee's post-Giants game concert

Oracle Park is about to get icy — and not just because of San Francisco's summertime fog. The Bay Area's 'Icy Girl' Saweetie plans to bring her hip-hop hits to the ballpark for a post-game performance after the San Francisco Giants face off against the Tampa Bay Rays on Aug. 16. The Santa Clara-born star is set to perform on the field approximately 30 minutes after the final out of the game, which starts at 6:05 p.m. Her set is part of the Giants' City Connect Concert series, which previously booked country music star Nate Smith for a performance on June 21. A game ticket is required for admission, and fans can purchase an additional field pass for closer access to the performance. Tickets are on sale now. The upcoming occasion marks Saweetie's first local gig since NBA All-Star Weekend, when she joined fellow Bay Area musicians Too Short, Raphael Saadiq and En Vogue on the court for a performance during the NBA All-Star Game at Chase Center. The two-time Grammy nominee was also featured on the Golden State Warriors' nine-track 'For the Soil' album, which celebrated Northern California's rap scene and was curated by Pinole rapper P-Lo. The record was released just before NBA All-Star Weekend in collaboration with its entertainment division, Golden State Entertainment. Ahead of her concert next month, Saweetie plans to release her new EP, 'Hella Pressure,' on Aug. 1. The project builds on the success of hits like 'My Type,' 'Tap In' and 'Best Friend,' and comes as fans eagerly await her debut album, which has no release date yet. Saweetie released the confident summer anthem 'Boffum,' the EP's lead single named for the slang term meaning 'both of them,' on Friday, July 18, to ring in the new era.

'I can't believe it': Grandson surprises grandmother with AI video of her late husband

An Argentinian grandmother was moved to tears this month when her grandson surprised her with an AI-generated video of her husband who died over 30 years ago. The woman, Sati, grinned as a once-still image of her husband, Jose, moved about, smiling back at her. Her grandson, Martin Garchtrom, made the video and shared it with his followers on TikTok in early July. 'Is that Pepe?' Sati, 100, asked in the video, referring to him using a Spanish nickname, Storyful shared. At one point, Sati cradled her face in her hands, overjoyed at what her grandson had created, before leaning back in for another look at her husband. Watch the heartwarming moment Grandmother is still 'in love like the first day' despite husband passing away over three decades ago Sati's husband Jose passed away more than 30 years ago, according to Storyful. She talks to her grandson often, and one common topic of discussion is the man she married all those years ago, Garchtrom said. 'My grandmother Sati always talks about my grandfather Jose,' Garchtrom said. 'She is in love like the first day.' Her grandson is a UX designer and musician, and he loves showing his grandmother new technology, like artificial intelligence (AI), he told Storyful. Pairing technology with her love for her late husband was a given. He remembered a photo of Jose that sits on a small table in her living room. He then explained to her how they could take the image and make something new. 'First, I told her, 'I'm going to take a picture of him with my cell phone,'' he explained to his grandmother. 'Then I said, 'I'm going to transfer this photo to the computer and we're going to make it come to life.'' As he played the video for her on July 7, he asked her if she understood what was happening. 'Oh my God,' she said in the video. 'I love you, Jose. We loved each other. I can't believe it.' Bringing deceased loved ones back to life using AI TikTok users aren't the only ones using AI to revisit coveted moments with loved ones. Alexis Ohanian, entrepreneur and co-founder of Reddit, shared a video of himself as a child with his late mother on X in June. In the AI-generated video, he and his mother hug and she looks at him before embracing again and rocking side-to-side. 'I wasn't ready for how this would feel,' he wrote. 'We didn't have a camcorder, so there's no video of me with my mom. I dropped one of my favorite photos of us in midjourney as 'starting frame for an AI video' and wow... This is how she hugged me. I've rewatched it 50 times.' Ohanian's post spurred discussion, with some X users warning him against using AI to recreate moments like this, arguing that AI gives users false memories. Ohanian replied to X users adding that his mom died almost 20 years ago, so he has 'grieved sufficiently.' He added that his family couldn't afford a camcorder back then. In his eyes, using AI to make an animated video is similar to using AI to stabilize or fill in the gaps of old or poorly-recorded videos. 'It's not a replacement for a loved one nor should it be,' he wrote. Saleen Martin is a reporter on USA TODAY's NOW team. She is from Norfolk, Virginia – the 757. Email her at sdmartin@
