BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER Reboot Reveals The New Slayer's Name... Nova — GeekTyrant

Geek Tyranta day ago
Hulu's upcoming Buffy the Vampire Slayer reboot just dropped a key piece of information that's sure to get longtime fans of the franchise curious… the name of the new Slayer. According to Deadline, Ryan Kiera Armstrong will play Nova, a quiet high school student with a world-changing destiny.
This reveal came alongside the announcement that Kingston Vernes has joined the cast. Vernes will portray Carson, a Junior Olympian and popular student at New Sunnydale Academy. He catches Nova's eye early on, and following a pivotal moment, he starts noticing her too. Sounds like a classic Slayer-meets-boy situation, but with a fresh twist.
While the show is still untitled, photos from the table read shared by Sarah Michelle Gellar had the title cleverly hidden, and fans are now speculating that it might go with Nova the Vampire Slayer . For now, Hulu has only ordered a pilot, so the full series isn't officially greenlit yet.
The Nova itself is Latin for 'new.' Given that Buffy activated every potential Slayer at the end of the original series, this reboot appears to pass the torch to a next-generation Slayer, one who may carry the weight of this new world.
That doesn't mean Nova will be the only Slayer around. The pilot recently added five more cast members including Faly Rakotohavana, Ava Jean, Sarah Bock, Daniel Di Tomasso, and Jack Cutmore-Scott. It wouldn't be surprising to see at least one more Slayer among them, echoing dynamics from the original series with characters like Kendra and Faith.
Although this isn't Buffy Summers' show, Sarah Michelle Gellar is back as Buffy in a mentor role. Nova will be front and center, but Buffy's legacy will still play a part. Gellar is also deeply involved behind the scenes, working alongside Eternals director Chloé Zhao, writers Nora and Lilla Zuckerman, and executive producer Gail Berman, who was part of the original series. Joss Whedon, the creator of the original show, is not involved with the reboot.
For now, all eyes are on Nova. If Hulu moves forward with the series, this new chapter could take us somewhere completely different while honoring the past.

She was reading from a teleprompter, but none of her aura or charisma were affected. Bronson Reed hilariously crowned Paul Heyman with Roman Reigns' Air Jordan Spizikes. Bron calls himself the Tribal Thief and calls Reigns' stolen shoes the 'Shoe-la Fala.' Bron Breakker sang the Roman Reigns chant to Reigns while grabbing Jey in a hold, and it was every bit as hilarious as it sounds. Jey Uso is wearing shorts now. He Yeeted and Re-Yeeted as the match began. Reigns' hot tag ended with Reigns wildly diving to the outside and almost landing on top of his head a la Undertaker at WrestleMania 25. He continued on like nothing happened. Breakker hit an awesome diving clothesline on Roman Reigns onto the Spanish announce table. Reigns hit a Superman Punch on the outside followed by a Spear on Breakker through the barricade. Revenge from Raw. After taking a bullet for Jey Uso, in the form of a Bron Breakker Spear, Jey rallied back by laying out Breakker and Reed. Uso pinned Reed with an Uso Splash. Surprisingly, Reigns did not pursue his Jordans from Reed. For more details on the SummerSlam 2025 opener, click here. Charlotte Flair and Alexa Bliss playfully shoved each other as the budding friends strolled to the ring. Michael Cole noted that nobody has won more SummerSlam matches than Charlotte Flair. Charlotte and Alexa could not get on the same page as to who would start this match. As a result, they were both jumped by the Judgment Day. Flair battled back before being cutoff by a Judgment Day double-team, but Bliss came to the rescue and evened the odds. After rallying, Bliss was smothered by Raquel Rodriguez. Though they followed a hot opener, the women's Tag Team Title opener had very little problem getting MetLife Stadium involved. The crowd was on fire during Charlotte Flair's hot tag. Charlotte's babyface reclamation project continues to succeed. Bliss accidentally struck Charlotte Flair. Roxanne Perez and Raquel Rod Rodriguez sold being surprised before taking control. Roxanne hit the Pop Rocks on Flair and Bliss broke it up with an awesome snapmare. After a boot to Raquel, Bliss scored the winning pinfall to win the WWE Women's Tag Team Titles. As expected, Karrion Kross got another rousing reaction from the Pavlovian 'smart' fans in attendance. Fans did not boo Sami Zayn, however. Sami Zayn got off to a hot start, with a moonsault off the barricade. As Kross took advantage of the match, there were battling chants of 'let's go Sami/let's go Kross.' Sami had an ugly landing on the business end of a Saito. After the nearfall, Scarlett gave Kross a steel pipe. Kross' attempt with the pipe backfired as Scarlett distracted the ref. Zayn lost his mind and attacked Karrion Kross to the point where the referee had to physically restrain him. Scarlett gave Sami the steel pipe as New Jersey gasped. Zayn considered using the pipe on Kross in front of the referee before emphatically tossing it aside. Kross Rolled up Sami for a nearfall. Zayn won the match with a Helluva Kick. There were faint 'we want Kross' chants after the match as Michael Cole performed a live tribute to Hulk Hogan at SummerSlam. Jade Cargill, donned in Jamaican-inspired ring gear, received a nice pop, but Tiffany Stratton's pop was massive. Fans sang 'Tiffy Time' as Cargill posed. Stratton hit a basement dropkick on Jade followed by a dive to the outside. Stratton hit a Swanton Bomb, smearing Cargill's makeup on her back. This was a back-and-forth battle of big athletic moves and it surpassed the Kross-Zayn match by the time it got out of first gear. Cargill hit a Jaded on Stratton, but Stratton's foot was on the rope as Jade pinned her. Stratton countered a super Jaded and followed up with a PME for the win. Jelly Roll led New Jersey in singing the chorus of Randy Orton's theme song. Jelly Roll was introduced as 'a son of a sinner.' Jelly Roll started the match, standing his ground against Logan Paul with a series of shoulder tackles. Paul tagged in Drew McIntyre to intimidate McIntyre. McIntyre decided against tagging in Randy, but came up short in his brawl with McIntyre. Logan Paul hit an awesome Frog Splash through a table on Jelly Roll. He was carried out of the match by WWE officials as fans sang 'Jelly Roll!' Jelly assured his wife he was okay before dramatically reentering the match to a huge reaction. Jelly's late comeback ended with a chokeslam on Paul followed by a Black Roll Slam on McIntyre. Fans went crazy. Jelly caught a diving Logan Paul in midair and hit a Jelly-to-Belly slam. Orton hit an RKO on McIntyre. Paul discarded Orton and hit a Paul from Grace (Frog Splash) for the win. Great match. CM Punk wore Fantastic Four inspired gear just in time for the eight-day anniversary of First Steps. Punk and Gunther chain-wrestled early as fans chanted for CM Punk. Punk was the clear babyface in this match. After Punk was a step ahead of Gunther early, Gunther struggled to land his first chop. It was a massive strike that sent Punk crashing to the mat. Punk regained control with chain wrestling. Punk blocked another chop and maintained his offense with chops of his own. Once Gunther got his claws on Punk, he chopped every part of his body as the tides turned. Gunther trapped Punk in an abdominal stretch as fans rallied behind Punk. Gunther laid it on thick with the trash talk as he had Punk locked in a rear-naked choke. It was similar to Conor McGregor vs. Khabib Nurmagomedov at UFC 229. After Punk battled back, Gunther countered a high-knee in the corner with a power bomb and it looked absolutely brutal. Gunther poured it on, but CM Punk once again took advantage of an overconfident Gunther. As Gunther was celebrating on the announce table, Punk pulled his legs from up under him, causing Gunther to bleed. Punk pounced on Gunther, hitting two GTS' for the win. Seth Rollins cashed in on CM Punk after shedding his crutches and beating up a worn-down CM Punk. Rollins pinned CM Punk for the win. His electrifying win was the perfect ending to SummerSlam. WWE SummerSlam 2025 Results As CM Punk Beats Gunther, Seth Rollins Cashes In

WWE SummerSlam 2025 marked a dream match for the ages as CM Punk battled Gunther for Raw's most prestigious title, the World Heavyweight Championship. Punk earned the right to face 'The Ring General' at WWE's summer spectacle by winning a 5-man gauntlet match on Raw a few weeks ago, outlasting some of the red brand's top stars, including Bron Breakker and Jey Uso. With Gunther finally moving on from his long-running feud with Uso, he and Punk clashed in a highlightly anticipated match in MetLife Stadium. Despite reports that Seth Rollins would return from his injury hiatus to cash in his Money in the Bank briefcase, there was no sign of 'The Visionary' in New Jersey. Instead, Gunther and Punk battled it out in an instant classic for the coveteed World Heavyweight title. But in the end, only one man stood tall. Well, two actually. WWE SummerSlam 2025 Results For Gunther vs. CM Punk At WWE SummerSlam 2025, CM Punk accomplished something that he hadn't done in more than a decade: he became world champion. The beloved babyface battled it out with Gunther in a match that was, as you might expect, absolutely fantastic. Some of the key moments in the match were: On more than one occasion, it looked like Gunther would hand Punk yet another marquee loss as 'The Voice of the Voiceless' attempted once again to win that elusive world championship in WWE. But, with the crowd firmly in his corner, Punk was able to blast Gunther with a second GTS for the win and recement himself as the top dog on the red brand. The win was Punk's first world title victory in WWE since he won the WWE Championship back in 2011 and held onto it until January 2013. But just minutes after winning an epic match, Seth Rollins' music hit, and he came out to spoil the party. Sporting a knee brace, Rollins made his entrance, removed the knee brace, sprinted to the ring, attacked Punk with the Money in the Bank briefcase and officially cashed in his guaranteed world title shots. One Stomp later, and Rollins is the new World Heavyweight Champion. WWE SummerSlam 2025 Results: What's Next for Gunther and CM Punk? Rollins has been a thorn in the side of CM Punk essentially since Punk's improbable return at Survivor Series in November 2023. And after Rollins' WWE SummerSlam cash-in, that clearly isn't changing anytime soon. Heading into SummerSlam, there were plenty of questions about whether Rollins' injury was legitimate and when his return might take place. At SummerSlam Saturday, fans got their answer when Rollins became World Heavyweight Champion, and perhaps more importantly, preventing Punk from leaving MetLife Stadium as champ. Rollins had, time and time again, vowed that he would not let Punk become world champion for the long haul, and he lived up to that promise in New Jersey. Well, at least after Punk's five-minute 'reign.' Punk's big win at SummerSlam 2025 received a raucous reaction from the MetLife crowd, thanks in part to a spectacular match against Gunther. But as Rollins and Punk have remained at odds for the past two years, the stage is again set for Punk and Rollins to resume their epic rivalry, only this time with Raw's biggest prize on the line. So, where does that leave Gunther? Well, for essentially the first time ever during his main roster stint, Gunther should step away from the world title picture for an extended period. In fact, it appears that Gunther could be stepping away from WWE altogether. 'The Ring General' reportedly has a nose injury that is expected to result in the now former world champion taking a hiatus from WWE. That's well deserved for Gunther, who has now put over both Punk and Jey Uso over the past several months. His match with Punk at SummerSlam was an instant classic, and his potential hiatus is much deserved. That clears the way for a heated World Heavyweight Championship feud between Rollins and Punk on Raw. And rest assured that after Rollins successfully cashed in at WWE SummerSlam, Punk vs. Rollins should be even more heated this time around.

Seth Rollins Cashes In On CM Punk And Wins World Title At WWE SummerSlam 2025

Seht Rollins Cashed in on CM Punk at WWE SummerSlam 2025. After Punk's first world title win in 14 years over Gunther, Rollins shed his crutches and destroyed punk for the win. CM Punk valiantly defeated Gunther at WWE SummerSlam 2025. Gunther dominated Punk throughout the match, but he constantly became overconfident, opening the door for multiple CM Punk flurries. Toward the end of the match, Punk bloodied Gunther as he was celebrating on top of an announce table. Punk battled back and hit two GTS' for the win. It was a fantastic match that was part-Hulk Hogan match, part UFC simulation. CM Punk was challenging for his second world title in just over a month after coming up short against John Cena at WWE Night of Champions 2025. Punk's match against Gunther was overshadowed by the looming possibility of Seth Rollins cashing in his Money in the Bank briefcase. The Internet Wrestling Community is filled with conspiracy theorists who hate being worked. After being worked when Seth Rollins' injury shortened his match against LA Knight at Saturday Night's Main Event, conflicting reports began trickling in that Rollins' knee injury may have been over exaggerated for dramatic effect. Seth Rollins Cashes In On CM Punk Fans chanted 'CM Punk' before his theme music played and popped huge when he walked out. Punk wore a timely Fantastic Four-colored gear, likely in homage to The Thing. Michael Cole noted it's been nearly 14 years since CM Punk captured a WWE World Championship. Gunther was the clear heel in this match as he was booed on his way to the ring and during Alicia Taylor's ring introduction. Michael Cole noted Gunther has four losses in the past five years. Punk blocked a Gunther chop early as the two felt each other out. There was a slow pace to begin this match. Gunther missed a stomp on Punk as the announcers covered for him by saying Punk has him all out of sorts. Gunther finally landed his first chop as Punk took a bump. Gunther finally took control of the match with a chop to the hamstring, back and the rest of Punk's body as CM Punk hung upside down. Gunther basked in loud boos as he worked over CM Punk with more brutal chops. You could see the sweat flying off of Punk's chest. Gunther hooked CM Punk in an abdominal stretch, but Punk reversed it into a GTS attempt. Gunther slipped out and answered with a kick to Punk's face. The announcers marveled at Gunther breaking down Punk limb from limb. Gunther continued to chop the hell out of Punk. Punk, trapped between the ropes, almost fell to the outside. But Gunther kept him in the ring and chopped him some more. Michael Cole talked up Gunther's cerebral nature as Wade Barrett chimed in about the evolution of the modern-day wrestler. Gunther trash-talked Punk as he locked him into a choke. 'You're never gonna be the best in the world!' Punk countered Gunther and caught him in a Sharpshooter before Gunther made it to the ropes. After a flurry by CM Punk, Gunther shut it down yet again as he received more heat. Gunther arrogantly kicked Punk around, but this only fired up Phil Brooks. Chop. Chop. Punk battled back with a forearm as the two went back and forth. Punk, who bled from his chest, ran into another chop before answering with a heel kick and a swinging neckbreaker. Gunther's arrogance once again backfired, but he caught Punk's high knee and slammed the hell out of him with a power bomb. Punk trapped Gunther in a Triangle Choke. The two rose to their feet, and Punk hit a side Russian Leg Sweep. Punk barely kicked out of a Gunther Frog Splash for a nearfall. Gunther went back to trash talking. The Ring General followed up with a lariat. With a glimmer of hope, Punk was able to hoist Gunther in the air for a GTS attempt, but Gunther escaped again and hit a power bomb. Gunther hit a running drop kick and a third power bomb for a nearfall. Gunther chopped CM Punk while he was on the top rope. Then the Ring General mercilessly stretched Punk. Gunther poured it on by throwing Punk into the ring post. After another premature celebration, Punk pulled Gunthers legs out from under him as Gunther bumped on the announce table. Gunther was busted open after hitting the announce table face first. CM Punk literally smelled blood and furiously battled back against Gunther. After a third GTS attempt, Gunther countered into a sleeper hold. 'Gunther can't see a thing right now, he has to end it here,' said Wade Barrett. Punk finally connected with a GTS as Gunther was out on his feet. Punk hit a second GTS and Gunther finally fell. Punk pinned Gunther for the win. Seth Rollins' music hit as MetLife Stadium exploded. Rollins walked out on crutches and vowed to cash in one day. That day came today as Punk shed his crutches to an even louder pop.
