INDYCAR Announces INDY NXT by Firestone Penalties at WWTR
INDYCAR has announced penalties for the No. 29 Andretti Global entry and driver James Roe ahead of this weekend's event at World Wide Technology Raceway.
Per standard late-race procedures, as a lapped car in the INDY NXT by Firestone Grand Prix of Detroit, the No. 29 was ordered and twice failed to take the final lap restart at the rear of the field alongside other lapped cars. Additionally, during the final lap of the race, the No. 29 was penalized for blocking the No. 40 – a lead-lap car.
The following penalties from the INDY NXT by Firestone rulebook were left 'pending' and scheduled to be applied and served at the next event: Rule 3.1.7. Failing to follow the direction of INDYCAR.
Rule 3.2. Blocking – Any Driver who moves in reaction, altering their line based on the actions of pursuing Competitors, may be penalized.
Roe has been placed on probation for his next three INDY NXT races. At the event at World Wide Technology Raceway, the No. 29 will not be permitted to qualify and will start Sunday's race at the rear of the field using tires scuffed from Saturday's practice.
Members may contest the imposition of the penalties detailed in the review and appeal procedures of the INDY NXT by Firestone rulebook.

'That's what it's all about.' Scott Dixon relishes first win with son in attendance
LEXINGTON, Ohio — After a transatlantic flight that touched down in Indianapolis around midnight, Emma Davies-Dixon had planned to take Sunday slow around the Dixon abode with her daughter Tilly and son Kit as their famous racing husband and father raced that afternoon. For all the sacrifices the Emma and Scott Dixon make for their family of flight — the flights back and forth from Indianapolis to London and the weeks spent apart, all in the name of their kids' education — there were many, many more races coming up shortly across a rigorous July IndyCar calendar. And then early this morning, her phone rang. 'I was like, 'Are you coming, or what?'' Dixon told IndyStar on Sunday afternoon of the call to his wife, who immediately sprung into action last-minute four-hour drive be damned. And then it happened. The unthinkable: An Alex Palou bobble on Lap 85 of 90 in a race he'd led 75 laps from pole and one where he held a 4-second lead on Dixon — a man they endearingly call Mr. Mid-Ohio. And before she knew it, Emma was watching her husband whip right around his teammate while still needing to manage a massive fuel save all the way to the checkered flag and keep his Chip Ganassi Racing teammate, a winner of six of the first nine races of 2025, in his rearview mirror. It's as if it was kismet. 'He's had such a tough season — stuff he's not spoken about publicly, just because he's not that guy, but he's had a lot of adversity, mechanicals, a lot of problems, engine (failures). Everything's been thrown at him this year, and he still stays positive and still believes,' Emma told IndyStar, almost floating through the paddock, stopped every 15 seconds or so by a dear paddock friend or a fan sporting a blue or orange No. 9 jersey. 'He's one of the best out there, and he can always get the job done, but there was just so much against him, weekend after weekend. Just to see it happen today at his favorite track, it was the best. I literally cannot explain how happy I am. Just to see him out there, driving the best line he could, and if Alex was going to take it, then it just wasn't going to happen. But to see him just carefully weave the nicest line, it was beautiful.' As she's doting on her husband, Emma's phone rings — a close friend who asks her to hustle back to Victory Lane. If she hustles, she and her kids will have a chance to snap some photos on stage with Scott before he's whisked away for his laundry list of media duties that await him as Sunday's race winner. So Emma rounded up their children, and the trio made their way to the stage to snap some memories celebrating win No. 59 — eight away from A.J. Foyt's all-time IndyCar record. How it happened: Scott Dixon wins after Alex Palou's mistake at Mid-Ohio No matter how many more victories Dixon celebrates in his legendary career, one that includes a record 21 straight seasons with a win and 23 overall, Sunday's will be one for the books. Because, for the first time since his very first race at Road America in 2020, Kit, the couple's high-energy 5-year-old with his own racing ambitions, was on hand to watch his father win in person. Just after Ganassi's test at Iowa Speedway on June 25, Dixon made a single-day, round-trip flight to London and back to pick up Kit, all for a couple days together that included a go-kart outing together at New Castle Motorsports Park last week before Dixon had to drive over to Mid-Ohio, leaving his son with a neighbor for most of the weekend and not expecting to get to see him until he arrived back in Indy late Sunday night. Dixon's mother, too, was at the track, the first leg of a three-weekend trip to the States that will culminate with the Toronto race weekend. As he rode the elevator up to his race-winner's news conference, Dixon chuckled at a photo of Kit licking his arm with a rather cheeky grin on his face, perhaps tasting errant drops of champagne for the first time. Where things stand: IndyCar drivers championship, Rookie of the Year, Leaders Circle standings after Mid-Ohio 'That's what it's all about, these memories,' said Dixon, whose oldest daughter, Poppy, was away in Greece celebrating her 16th birthday with friends. '(Poppy will be arriving tomorrow back in Indy, so looking forward to seeing her. Hopefully that's a pretty good present for her, even though I'm not sure she's too worried about that.' Dixon smirked. 'You see photos, obviously, with Alex (Palou) and his family when he's been able to celebrate this year, and for us, this is definitely very special,' he continued. 'This was pretty sweet. I'm thankful they made the journey.'
