LPA outside PAR has ‘low' chance of becoming storm — PAGASA

The low pressure area (LPA) outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility has a 'low' potential of developing into a tropical depression within the next 24 hours, PAGASA said Sunday afternoon. At 2 p.m., PAGASA said the LPA was located 1,240 kilometers east of southeastern Luzon. For now, the Southwest Monsoon (Habagat) is expected to bring cloudy skies and rain over several areas in the country, according to the state weather bureau's 4 p.m. daily weather forecast. The affected areas are Metro Manila, Ilocos Region, Central Luzon, CALABARZON, MIMAROPA, Bicol Region, Visayas, and Mindanao. These moderate to at times heavy rains may cause flash floods and landslides. Meanwhile, the rest of Luzon will see partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms due to localized thunderstorms. These severe thunderstorms may trigger floods and landslides. State meteorologists also said winds will be light to moderate, while coastal waters will be slight to moderate throughout the country.
