Egyptian President issues urgent call to Trump over Gaza
In a televised speech, El-Sisi addressed Trump, saying: 'I make a direct call to you, please do everything you can to stop this war and allow aid in. El-Sisi emphasized Egypt's long-standing support for the Palestinian people, stating, 'Egypt cannot be neutral on Palestinian issues. We remain committed to offering support sincerely and honestly.' He also reaffirmed Egypt's efforts to find practical solutions to end the war.
The Egyptian president also clarified the role of the Rafah border crossing, saying it is designated for pedestrian traffic and that its operation also depends on the Palestinian side. He explained that Gaza typically requires between 600 and 700 aid trucks per day, and that Egypt is fully prepared to deliver aid, with a large number of trucks already ready and waiting.
He stressed that there are no obstacles on the Egyptian side preventing the entry of aid, but emphasized the importance of the crossing being operational on the Palestinian side to maintain the steady flow of supplies.
El-Sisi reiterated Egypt's firm position rejecting the forced displacement of Palestinians, warning that such efforts would undermine the viability of a two-state solution.
He also noted Egypt's coordination with Qatar and the United States to find a resolution to the conflict, ensure the delivery of aid, and secure the release of captives. El-Sisi urged the international community to act swiftly to address the catastrophic humanitarian situation in Gaza.
