Karachi to host National Women's T20 tournament from 7th

LAHORE: A prize pot of over Rs three million will be up for grabs in the five-team National Women's T20 Tournament 2024-25, which will get underway from May 7 at two venues in Karachi - National Bank Stadium and HPC Oval Ground.
This year's edition will feature five teams Challengers, Conquerors, Invincibles, Stars, and Strikers. Competing in a double-league format, each team will play eight matches with a total of 22 matches slated to take place across 18 days.
The teams finishing second and third on the points table will face off in a Qualifier on 22nd May, with the winner advancing to meet the top-ranked team in the final on 24th May. The final will be played at the National Bank Stadium.
A total of 80 cricketers will participate in the tournament, which carries a prize pool of over Rs three million. The champions will receive Rs 1.5 million, while the runners-up will take home Rs one million.
Among the players featuring, five national players who were part of Pakistan's victorious squad at the recently-concluded ICC Women's Cricket World Cup Qualifier 2025 will lead their respective sides– Fatima Sana (Conquerors), Gull Feroza (Strikers), Muneeba Ali (Invincibles), Rameen Shamim (Challengers) and Sidra Amin (Stars).
As part of the PCB's continued efforts to promote and expand the reach of women's cricket, both the Qualifier (22nd May) and the Final (24th May) will be live-streamed on PCB's official YouTube channel. All matches in the tournament will begin at 3pm PKT.

Following the camp, the 15-member squad will undergo a pre-series camp in Karachi before departing for Ireland to take part in the bilateral series. Dhande Fighters achieved their first victory after failing in their first three matches by defeating the strong opponent team Wada Hunters by 56 runs in an exciting match in the ongoing Khatri Premier league Floodlight T-20 cricket tournament here on Sunday at historic Asghar Ali Shah Stadium Karachi. Thanks to the brilliant and aggressive century of Mirza Saad Baig, captain of the Pakistan Under-19 team and talented wicketkeeper-batsman representing Karachi Kings in HBL PSL X. At the end of the match, chief guest Usman Rajkot and Muhammad Suleman (Guddu Pakwan) presented the Man of the Match trophy along with a cash award of Rs 2000 to Mirza Saad Baig for his match-winning all-round performance of 106 runs and taking 3-10. Dhande Fighters captain Muzamil Sonija won the toss and batted first and the winning team scored 186 runs for the loss of eight wickets in the stipulated 20 overs. Pakistan U-19 team captain Mirza Saad Baig batted aggressively and played attractive strokes towards the edges of the ground and scored a brilliant century of 106 off 54 balls with the help of seven powerful fours and nine towering sixes. In reply, the entire Wada Hunters team returned to the pavilion after scoring 130 runs in 17.3 overs ahead of the devastating bowling of Mirza Saad Baig and Zubair Ali Kachi. Moeen Ali Kachi batted well and scored a 40 runs off 23 balls with the help of three fours and three sixes, Shahryar Ghani scored 37 runs off 26 balls with two fours and two sixes, while Shoaib Sonija scored 19 runs. Sonija Soldier will take on Bachhra Warriors at 10 pm today.
