All Whites striker stays at Auckland FC in world cup year

The Hamilton-born striker had a memorable 2024/25 season which included scoring the club's first A-League hat-trick when he netted three times against the Wellington Phoenix . He scored in the club's first-ever game against the Brisbane Roar, as well as in both draws against Adelaide United. In all, Rogerson scored nine goals in Auckland's debut season, playing 28 games and registering two assists. Ahead of a pivotal Football World Cup year, 27-year-old Rogerson has decided that Auckland FC remains the best place to further develop his career and push for an All Whites spot. "I'm loving being back in New Zealand, loving this team, the fans, and what we have created. I'm settled here, happy here and can't wait to go again," Rogerson said. "Things have really worked out. Steve, Terry, and the coaches have a real vision for what we can achieve as a club and although we didn't go all the way last season, that defeat will ensure we push even harder this season." Rogerson, who has spent time in Europe playing in Finland Germany and Armenia, started his career as a youth player with Hamilton Wanderers. He has also represented New Zealand at age-group and senior international level and has one eye on making the All Whites squad that will play in next year's world cup . "Playing in a World Cup is obviously a big ambition of mine, playing regularly with Auckland FC gives me the best chance of fulfilling that ambition." Auckland FC director of football, Terry McFlynn signed Rogerson to the club almost exactly a year ago. "Steve Corica and I were big admirers of Logan. He fit the profile of the sort of player we were after, but also had just the right attitude and temperament. He's got no ego, just wants to play football and wants to win," McFlynn said. "He was a big part of our success last season, a big favourite with the fans, and we're delighted to have him locked in for another two years." Black Caps' Zimbabwe tour to be streamed by ThreeNow

Photo: Kerry Marshall/ The Black Caps' tour of Zimbabwe will be broadcast live and free for New Zealand cricket fans after ThreeNow secured the rights for the T20I tri-series as well as two test matches. ThreeNow first temporarily held streaming rights for Black Caps games in 2023 for two tests against Bangladesh. The upcoming T20I tri-series between New Zealand , South Africa and Zimbabwe starts on 14 July, with each team playing four matches over a two-week period. The top two teams will then compete in the final on 26 July. Games will be late for New Zealand viewers, with start times at 11pm. The test series, which marks the first test between the Black Caps and Zimbabwe since 2016, starts at 8pm each night. New Zealand cricket television and streaming rights have shifted between providers in the last five years. Last year Sky locked in a five-year deal to be the New Zealand broadcaster for all ICC men's and women's events through to the end of 2028, including World Cups and the Test Championship. Spark Sport secured the rights to cricket in New Zealand in April 2020, but this closed in 2023. TVNZ took over the coverage from Spark, and that deal runs out at the end of the 2025/26 season. From next season (2026/27) Sky will begin a six-year deal with the Black Caps and White Ferns home internationals returning to the pay-TV provider for the first time since 2020. Free-to-access arrangements for the domestic Super Smash competition are yet to be announced. Eight All Blacks from outside current squad included in AUNZ Invitational 15

Photo: Andrew Cornaga/ Eight All Blacks from outside Scott Robertson's current squad have been included in the AUNZ Invitational 15 to take on the British and Irish Lions in Adelaide on Saturday. The All Blacks are Aidan Ross, David Havili, Folau Fakatava, Hoskins Sotutu, Jeffery Toomaga-Allen, Ngani Laumape, Shannon Frizell and Shaun Stevenson. Also in the 30-player squad are Chiefs prop George Dyer and Blues players AJ Lam, Kurt Eklund and Josh Fusitu'a. Invitational head coach Les Kiss will lead the first combined Australia-New Zealand team since 1989 in what will be the Lions' final match before the test series against the Wallabies. Former All Blacks coach Ian Foster is one of Kiss's assistants. The Wallabies squeaked through their last match before the first test against the Lions in Brisbane on July 19, [ with a 21-18 victory over Fiji in Newcastle on Sunday. Wallabies coach Joe Schmidt was disappointed after the win, saying there were too many errors from his players. The Lions, meanwhile, ground out [ a 21-10 win over the Waratahs in Sydney on Saturday, their third successive victory on their Australian tour. "There has been a lot of work behind the scenes to build this squad and it's exciting to see it come together," Kiss said. "We have quality coaches and a highly motivated group of players that represent the depth of talent across Australia and New Zealand. "Each of them has a lot to play for and there's a real sense of anticipation about the unique opportunity in front of us. "As the first AUNZ side to be assembled in 36 years, we have the chance to do something pretty special here in Adelaide."
